  1. I eat carb balance tortilla by mission. I have no problems w/it. I use it mainly to make turkey roll ups for lunch.

    Finding a bra to fit

Not sure how you feel about online shopping but I used to buy my daughter bras from barenecessities.com. They always seem to have hard-to-find sizes and reasonably priced. Google a coupon code , if you decide to purchase from their site.

    Freezing!

I am four months out & I definately get cold more often. Since I'm in menopause, I welcome the cold, LOL. Incidentally, I just watched a YouTube video of a guy who is two years out and he says he still gets cold. So it looks like it does not go away.

    New to fifties group

@@LisaGB, sharing a meal is one option, quite a few people do that. However, initially I ordered from the appetizer menu. It's been four months since I've been sleeved & unfortunately, I can tolerate more food. So I now order my own dinner when we go out but the good thing is, it will last for 3 meals. I'm a leftover kinda girl, so it works for me & saves money. Win-win.

@@LainieG, so sorry to hear about the loss of your brother & I'm glad you felt comfortable sharing that with us. thank you. To answer your question about the pre-op diet, I was allowed protein drinks for breakfast & lunch & dinner was meat & veggie only. I think 3 ounces of meat. Jello or broth in between, if I needed it. I live w/my husband & you are correct, it can be more difficult when you live w/someone. I had to stay busy to keep my mind off food. I won't lie, preop was really hard for me but I managed to lose 15lbs in the two week diet.
  6. @@donnascell, I had my surgery through lifeweigh bariatrics, 2801 Finley. They offer a once a month support group meeting, not sure if it's open to everyone but you can call them at 630-261-9393 to find out.

    Cookbook recommendations?

A lot of people recommended the weight loss surgery cookbook for dummies, available on Amazon. I bought it but I wasn't overly impressed. I have been finding recipes for FREE online. I visit the world according to egg face blog, GREAT recipes. I also check out recipes on this website, there is a forum specifically dedicated to recipes. Good luck with your surgery!
  9. Donna I agree, but it looks like this is the best forum to post in. Guess I may have to attend my support group in downers grove cause I can't seem to find anything in the south suburbs
  10. Best wishes for a quick recovery & congrats! !

    Newbie looking for Oct sleevers!

@@downsizingdebs, no. My husband has been gently encouraging me to lose weight for years, so I'm having the opposite experience. So sorry you're going through this. I'm sure i'm going to state the obvious but have you thought about going to couples therapy? There's no shame in that and sometimes after talking it out, it can make the relationship stronger. Or maybe before going that route, sit down and have a heart-to-heart with him and reassure him of your commitment. Wishing you the best. Another thought, I believe there is a support group on this site for spouses, do you think he would be interested in that?

    3 Months out....however

Yes, I had pain on my left side that started as I approached the three month mark. When I went for my three month follow-up, I mentioned it to the nurse practitioner who said it was common and that it would subside soon. She was right, I haven't had the pain in about two weeks. I never experienced any shoulder pain. I still think to play it safe, call your doctor. Best wishes.
  16. I know this thread is a month old but wanted to chime in,because I searched the Internet for this exact same answer before surgery. I am almost 4 months out and have lost 50lbs (15 in my two week preop). So I am not losing fast by any means but I am losing.2 dress sizes down and some clothes 3 sizes down. It is possible to lose with hypothyroid, no regrets.
  17. @@jayhawkgirl, so sorry for your loss. You truly have been through some difficult times. I had a breast cancer scare last January, so I can totally relate. Glad everything checked out fine. You are taking a great step in making your health a priority.14 pounds is not insurmountable. Good luck and we're here to support you.

@@LisaGB, congrats on getting approved! So sorry you have to wait, I can only imagine how frustrating that must be. Well, let's put a good spin on the later news...having surgery during the summer gives you longer to heal. Spring break may not have been enough time, does that help?

    Free Quest Bars

@@joatsaint, very nice of you to share this information. Just ordered mine to. Love my quest bars, sometimes I order them from Amazon vs. GNC because at times, they can be cheaper.

How long do stomach noises last?

Mine slowed down tremendously, it happens rarely. Mostly when drinking coffee. The gurgles have been replaced w/burps,

    Hair Loss

@@dogloverlosingit, I read where someone recommended rapid lash (on Amazon). I haven't lost any hair or lashes yet, going into my fourth month but I recently bought it just in case. I might use it anyway since I've never had thick lashes, might be worth a try.

    African American vsgers!

@@fitme76, welcome! It depends on your surgeon. I was told to walk only for the first month. After that, I was released to start working out more strenuously but no abdominal workouts until 2 months. Good luck with the process. I love my sleeve (despite the fact that I'm losing slowly) it truly is one of the best decisions I've made. I've had no complications.

I want to start off by thanking someone...@@SimplySue thank you for telling me contact my doctor after I posted about a month ago that my cycle had returned,( after I was technically in menopause). I called my doctor shortly after and she agreed, that it should not happen. In the last three or four weeks I've undergone a biopsy and an ultrasound and I'm here to report everything is fine, yay! But it was a very scary few weeks. Not sure I would've contacted my doc had it not been for Sue...love this group. I also want to thank @@Vsglady, she private messaged me through this whole ordeal and helped to keep me sane. Coincidentally, we BOTH were experiencing the same thing. So this serves as a public service announcement, of sorts. If you're menopausal & this happens to you after surgery, don't freak out. Go through the testing just to make sure everything is ok. It is not common knowledge but apparently this surgery can send your hormones into a frenzy causing breakthrough bleeding. My surgeons office had never heard of this but they agreed it should definitely be researched. By the way, welcome to all the newbies so glad you joined our group.

October 2014 sleevers check in please!

Ok this last page of post has scared me straight. Don't get me wrong, I've been pretty good but I do give myself a little treat here and there. Knowing that after six months it could possibly get more difficult, I really need to be more focused. I need to up my workout & watch my carbs more closely. @@Peekboo I will check that YouTube video out, thanks.
