    I'm totally addicted to....

I love quest bars (like Jaime, the choc chip cookie dough & cookies and cream) also perky turkey jerky(love saying that) ...both are delish. Never leave home without them.

    Sleeping positions

I was told to sleep on my back for the first week & on my side as tolerated after that. Trust me, it's pretty uncomfortable sleeping on your side. I'm a side sleeper as well, took some getting used to.

    C section vs. Pain

I 100% agree with LumpySpacePrincess. My sleeve pain was pretty intense the first three days but by day5 it was much better. My c-section pain lasted longer w/certain movements. But this is not everyone's story. I'm admittedly a wuss Best of luck

@@Peekboo my goal (set by my exercise physiologist) was to weigh between 182-186 . On my scale I weighed 186.2 & on weigh in day. On there's I was 187.2 he also wanted my percentage of excess weight loss to be between 50-55% I was 49% @@SimplySue, thanks for the words of encouragement. You are absolutely right. I think of that often. I tried so many diets before the surgery and I never lost more then12-15 lbs, only to gain it all back-plus a few extra.so even though I was down, it was just for a day. Thankfully I'm a glass half-full kinda girl. I'm keeping it in perspective.

@@Peekboo, good luck w/your appointment. Wish I had suggestions but I fell below my goal by 1 lb. at least I know what I did wrong, I stopped exercising. my Bariatric team was very supportive but it didn't help. I was very disappointed in myself. Never thought I'd say this but I miss the restriction I had the first few months.

    Hi everyone

@Dizzylynne, welcome to Bariatric Pal (BP) ! Many people had problems getting in the required amount of water, but the key is to try. Sip, sip, sip. I have always enjoyed water. In the beginning I fell short but within weeks I was able to meet goal. The first 3-4 days were rough. After that, I had NO issues. I am almost six months out & can tolerate almost everything. So grateful for this a tool. My suggestion is to start working out as soon as you're allowed. I made the mistake of not working out much. My weight loss has slowed tremendously. Lesson learned. starting back up asap.

@@AgentShepard, thanks for the words of encouragement. I am definitely going to start working out again, I know I need to. Especially since my weight-loss has virtually stopped. Your last comment about BMI is right on point. My exercise physiologist made the same comment. He said he's not interested in my BMI or the numbers on the scale. He is more interested and my percentage of weight loss. I go this Friday for my six-month follow-up, so I'm interested to see if he'll be pleased.

@@AgentShepard, I love your post. It was very thorough and gave me a clear picture of your progress. You have done incredibly well! We've been having this discussion in our Facebook group about some of us reverting back to our old ways. I've started eating more carbs than I should & because I'm nervous about my hair shedding, i've stopped working out so that I won't put a lot of stress on my hair. Not a good excuse, I know. Keep up the great work.

    Newbie looking for Oct sleevers!

@@Meonthelist, people also post on "October sleever's check-in". Not sure if you follow that thread. I eat normal for the most part, the only thing I haven't tried is pasta. I do eat a little rice, potatoes(sweet & white) & quinoa. However, I am seriously considering eliminating the carbs altogether since my weight loss has been so slow, at least until I get closer to goal. I find that old habits are starting to creep up. I know I am supposed to eat protein first, then carbs/ veggies. But sometimes I find that I start with the veggies or carbs first, depending on what I'm eating. Nothing makes me sick which is both good and bad.

[quote name="jmsgal" Body image is a common issue on this site. Just remember you were probably plus size for some time, so it will take a while to accept the new you. I posted on another thread that I have the opposite issue. Sometimes I think I am smaller then I really am, lol. I will pick up a size 12 and assume it will fit, only to find out.....ummm, not yet.???????? You have done very well, congrats.

[quote name="WL WARRIOR I am viewing this on my Android mobile app - not as user friendly, so I hope I quoted your name right. Your weight loss is ahh mazing!!! I am stunned w/how little you eat. I truly wish I had your restriction. I eat a whopping 1200 cal a day (per nutrionist instructions) and can eat more If I allowed myself. I too have hypothyroid & have been using that as my excuse for not losing more (I average 5 lbs a month, the last two months). Now seeing your results, I can't really use that as a crutch. If I'm honest I know I'm not eating as well as I should. I've gotten a little laxed w/the carbs and exercise. I have my 6 mo f/u in April. The exercise Physiologist set a goal for me to be between 182-186lb. This morning I was at 186 but I KNOW I can so much better. I just have to buckle down! !!! Sorry for the ramble, just had a lot to say, lol.
  17. @@MaryC94, pre-op does not necessarily define how you will lose post-op. I lost 15lbs in my two week pre-op diet with no exercise . My surgeon was impressed. I am over 5 months out & have lost 41lbs. my quick weight loss pre-op did not continue post-op. I refuse to stress, I know I'm not working out nearly enough & I'm making the necessary changes.

    Anyone benefit from meditation?

@@My Bariatric Life, funny you should mention that. Just last night my husband reminded me that I haven't meditated in a while (he has been meditating for over a year). I started about seven months ago, shortly before my surgery. After my surgery I began to do it very sporadically and lately, I have to admit, I haven't done it at all and I can feel the difference. Meditating helped me to feel calm and to de-stress. I also felt more connected to God. It was meant for me to read your post today. I will start again this evening.

October 2014 sleevers check in please!

@@SleeveNik, I can relate to a certain point. I haven't worked out for over a week-shame on me. I started noticing some shedding & got very nervous about working out regularly because I thought that would be a lot of stress on my hair which would cause it to fall out more. Not a good reason probably more of an excuse than anything, if I'm honest. Since you said you're getting bored with the diet, have you thought of checking the recipe boards for suggestions to change things up? I noticed you mentioned the word "diet", maybe try to change your mind frame and look at it as a new way of life not necessarily a diet. The diet word seems to have such negative connotations. Another suggestion, check out the success forum. At least for me, it helps to read how people have reached their goals and especially when they post pictures it's really inspiring. Good luck! @@Peekboo, I agree chicken Keeps me more full than any other protein. I guess we all have our vices, yours is coffee & mine is bubblegum & pistachios. We have to learn to eat these things in moderation. Peek how is your hair holding up? Are you still having some shedding or has that stopped. I thought I was going to be one of the lucky ones, but in the past week I've noticed that I've had some shedding, not a lot but enough to notice.

@@LisaGB, I won't pretend it's easy but what helped me is staying busy to keep my mind off food. If you slip up, do not go overboard. Drink plenty of water & I was allowed various broths to help w/hunger pains. remember, if your liver does not shrink sufficiently , the surgeon may not be able to do the surgery. You don't want to come this far only to have to start the pre-op diet over again. Stay strong & focused on the prize. It is sooooo worth it!!!!
