  1. I took 3 1/2 weeks. After the first week the pain subsided quite a bit but I was very week, it took awhile to regain my strength. II needed a nap every day. I have a desk job but a 40 minute car ride, so I didn't want to chance going back to soon. Besides, I had more then enough days. Quite a few people I've talked to were able to return after a week. Ultimately, it depends on how quickly your body recovers.

@@Liza001, congratulations!!! So sorry I never got back to you about my iron levels. I Never found it but looks like it doesn't matter now Wishing you a quick recovery!!!

    Hospital visitors?

Lol on the statemeny about your husband. The first day was really rough. I barely knew my husband was there. One person was enough @ the hospital - for me. I did need him to motivate me to walk, cause I was in a lot of pain.
  4. There aren't a lot of vets on here that are years out, so it's really nice to hear updates (both the good and bad). Glad your experience has been great. Good luck in reaching your goal. You did it once, you'll do it again. I'm 9 months out today and I've had no issues. I'm beyond ecstatic with the loss, albeit slower then I thought, but I'm not complaining.

    Hospital visitors?

Most hospitals allow visitors. I was moved to a private room, so visitors were not an issue, but honestly I only wanted my husband there. I believe ICU is the one area that has the most restrictions. Check with your surgeon to be sure. Wishing you a quick recovery!

    New to fifties group

Hey guys haven't been on here for a while. I am currently 9 months out today (ironically, I'm at my 9 month f/u appt now while writing this). Hw:243 Sw:228 Cw:176 My weight loss is relatively slow but I'm still losing. I wear a size 12 but they are starting to get a bit big & I can fit a few 10's now! Yeah! My goal size is an 8. Post op, I had no issues, sometimes I wondered if I had the surgery at all because it was so easy, lol. Now, my hunger is returning with a vengeance - it definitely takes decipline. As for those of you who are feeling hungry so early out, it may be heartburn. Try chewing tums. I've heard hearburn can mimick hunger. Good luck to the newbies &welcome to all who are new to this thread.

    Newbie looking for Oct sleevers!

@@lauriedunn1, I usually have a quest protein bar a day (21g) and delish! I also have 80 cal lite n fit Dannon Greek yogurt (12g) protein, a babybel cheese snack & turkey jerky (16g) and lunch is usually chicken, turkey or steak which meats can be high in protein. Talapia is very high in protein. Etc. I usually have no problems getting in 80-100grams a day and my calories are about 1200 a day. I didn't mind the vanilla protein shakes from premier but I didn't love them either. I much prefer to eat my calories then drink it. But in your case, since it sounds like it would be hard to eat them, get the protein how you can. That's the most important thing.

@@lauriedunn1, haven't had a protein shake since 2 months post-op. My doctor wanted me to get the calories from food. Just came back from New Jersey last night. Everyone was so nice there. @@WL WARRIOR, you are a Rock star! Congrats on reaching goal! I know carbs are my issue. Came back from a three day weekend where I ate very few carbs and dropped two pounds! I'll take it!!
  9. @@Running2theSleeve, from your last post it looks like you have a few people who support you. So lean on them and this group. We all get it! Let me add, often times when people don't support you, it's because they don't understand it. Maybe call a family meeting and share with them how you feel and answer any questions they may have, hopefully u could can enlighten them. At the end of the day, you are doing this for YOU! I hope they come around. Wishing you the best.

@@dannilynn1 that is fantastic! I can't wait to see pics too. Keeps me focused and encouraged.
  12. @@globetrotter thanks for being so raw and candid. It helps me to keep everything in perspective. It's so easy to be blissfully ignorant during the honeymoon phase as the pounds are coming off rather effortlessly. I'm sincerely sorry to hear that you're sad, I can feel your frustration in your writing. Wishing you success. When you're having a bad day, we're here for you, rant away.... @@frumpy69 thanks for sharing, always good to hear from the vets. From your post it seems that when you're focused the weight comes off. So I'm sure a few months from now we'll read that you've lost the weight.

Looking for stats on 5'0" females..

I'm 5'1 started at 243, lost 15# in my two week pre-op. 228 surgery date and 179 today. Slow loser but I'm losing. I have no regrets and have had minimal issues. LOVING MY SLEEVE! wishing you success

The Proof is in the Pictures

Congrats on reaching your dream goal! You have inspired me to hang in there and not get discouraged. My progress is so slow and I'm always concerned I won't reach goal. Thanks for sharing.
  15. I love this thread! I wondered the same thing. I have been stalled for two months & decided to up my workout to four days instead of three. The scale finally started moving. I should add that I am 51 with a thyroid condition so I feel, both(age & thyroid) , can affect weight loss. I have to admit I feel so much better after a Zumba workout. So I workout to help with weight loss & heart health.

    More hungry at 8 months?

I'm almost 8 months out & hunger has returned for me too. It definitely takes discipline & planning to make sure I stay within my calorie allowance. I am very impressed that you have stayed away from the bad carbs, you are an inspiration. Continued success to you.

@@10 28 2014 . 1lb a week at this stage is good. Very happy for you & thanks for checking in @Meonthelist. Like peek, I have lots of energy too. Please get that ck'd out. Could be Iron level, thyroid, etc. I have also dropped a dress size, even though I have barely lost any weight. However, this week I finally lost 2lbs. I've Been stalled for almost two months! @@Peekboo, what you described was dumping. I experience that too when I eat high carbs or too much sugar, or both-lol. It goes away fairly quickly though.
  20. I'm 7 1/2 months out, my huge No-no is that I eat more carbs then I should, which I'm sure has contributed to my two month stall. Nor do I track my intake. I AM allowed coffee, so I have 16 ounces a day. I do wait 30 min. after I eat to drink (this is the amount of time I was told to wait) I don't eat& drink. Not as big of an issue as I thought it would be. Have not had a soda since Sept 30. I surprisingly don't really miss it. I do work out 3 days a week but should definitely increase it (prob another reason for my stall).
