  1. @@Giselle426, If I read your post correctly, it looks like you were saying you work out 2x per day. Is that correct? My exercise physiologist told me working out too much can also stall your weight loss( go figure). Maybe dial it back a bit. 5-6 days a week, 1x per day may help. Just a thought. Also, does your bariatric team have a support group? Talking to others in person may also help-at least with the depression. Hang in there & give it your best shot!

    How long was ur process?

I had my consult in early June of 2014 & they wanted to schedule surgery in September 2014 but I waited until October. I have an HMO, the approval process with them was very quick. However, my surgeon required a 3 month pre-op program.

How do you break a stall?

I am 11 months out & my stalls started around 5 months. In the past five months, I've lost about 2lbs-3lbs a month. This month I am on target to lose a little over 2lbs AGAIN! Hoping for three but only have 2 days to go before weigh-in. I did give up the protein bar & lost 2lb in 1week . Another month, I increased my calories and lost 2lb but I stopped losing again. This is beyond frustrating but I'll just keep working the program. This week I'm going to try to vary my workout & see if it helps.

Did you reach goal in a year?

I'm almost at 11 months & since I have only lost 2lbs this last month, It is pretty clear I won't reach goal at 1 year. My exercise physiologist wants me to be between 160-165 @ 1 year. My appt is on 10/17 & I weigh 173. Oh well, I'm just going to keep trying, because the alternative is not an option. By the way, my personal goal is 135-140 so I have a ways to go but I refuse to be discouraged. I have pity parties but they end early. I remember where I was last year at this time & it helps me to keep it all in perspective. Stay focused my friend and know you are not in this battle alone.

    Restaurants post surgery

Just came home from girls night w/my friends. I ordered a 6 oz. filet & scallops with a side of grilled veggies. As an appetizer I shared crab cakes ( I ate 1). I ate maybe 2 ounces of filet, half a scallop & one bite of veggies. I brought the rest home, will eat it tomorrow w/enough left over to give my husband a little taste. The answer your question, is yes-it definitely gets easier. By the way, I am almost 11th month post-op.

  18. I am 10 months post-op and I just finished eating half of a grilled chicken salad. As the previous poster mentioned, it will be hard to get in a lot of veggies given the size of our belly, hence the vitamins. To answer your first question, I do not pay attention to the amount of fat in my diet. However, I periodically enter what I eat on my fitnesspal.com. I noticed that I do have quite a bit of fat, in my diet-but good fat. I eat chicken, steak or fish. Also avocado, nuts & cheese. Blending your veggies is acceptable but you may find it hard to juice and get in the recommended amount of protein in a day, I guess you can add some unflavored protein powder to your juice?

COLLAR BONES, SIZE LARGE, QUEST BARS

@@downsizingdiva, I responded to this post on the 20th. I was eating them every day, haven't had one since the 19th. I lost. 2lbs (in 4 days) after losing only ONE # A MONTH FOR THE LAST TWO MONTHS! At least for me, I will say the quest bars were definitely part of, if not the reason for my ridiculously long stall. I will still have one, maybe two, a week instead of everyday. Those bars can be addictive!
  20. Kathy812

Question can you please help me ?

You should be fine. people have eaten worse and still had the surgery. I'm not condoning it, but truthfully, I had salad everyday for lunch. I was suppose to have liquids all day & one meal at night (Protein & veggie only). The liquid diet was very difficult. Fortunately I was still able to have the surgery. However, I should mention, my surgeon said my liver didn't shrink as much as he wanted ( I lost 15 # in two week) but he was still able to complete the surgery without incident-thank God.

@@LainieG, thanks for checking. 60#! Wow, fantastic! Glad to hear things are moving along for you. I am doing really well. I've had a great summer, now that I've lost weight, I have become more social and have so much energy! Wish I had done this 10 years ago! On the weight loss front, I've been at a horrible stall. Lost 1 lb a month for the last two months! I recently read on Bp where someone wrote their doctor told them to not eat any protein bars if they wanted to lose weight. (I have been eating one protein bar a day). So, I thought I'd try to give it up and I finally lost a pound this week, I also worked out four days this week-instead of three. So hopefully, I'll start losing again.

  23. @@Sharon1964, they were horrible! Most people stopped the shots when they got released from the hospital, for whatever reason my doctor felt it was necessary to continue them for two weeks. That was the worst part of my entire experience. The shots were extremely painful. Ugh, having flashbacks.
