People holding you accountable?
With His help replied to GraceofGod's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Grace - Conrats on the changes you've made! Regarding your question about how others are handling their "peeps", I find that when I am with family or friends who know I'm banded that I feel the need to explain what I'm eating. I know they can see that I'm eating less and losing weight but I also feel like they are really concious of what I'm eating. I've decided to talk them through every step...letting them know my thought process regarding my meal choices. Ultimately as they see that I am sucessful they will relax and trust that I'm doing what's best for me. Good luck and thanks for sharing. -
I'm so sorry...I know all too well how suprisingly painful a broken toe can be! Remember that we are on a journey and that this is a minor setback. You'll be good as new before you know it and back at the gym:thumbup:

I made a goat cheese souffle tonight and it was AWESOME!! I ended up having the equivalent of about 1 1/2 cups, but I was never stuffed and am still full 3 hrs later.:hurray:

Was just thinking that I'm supposed to go back to work on Monday and I bet I haven't even had 200 calories today. I'm guessing that once I'm trying to really think and work that this may be pretty tough. How long did you/are you planning to be consuming so few calories?
-
Good luck! You'll be a week post-op before you know it. Let us hear from you when you get home.

gross question
With His help replied to restrict2008's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor was pushing me to drink prune juice after 2 days and no BM. It took until day 5, but I've been regular every since. -
How few calories are you taking in post-op?
With His help replied to With His help's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks guys. Sounds like I am not the only one survivng on very few calories. I did add some Cream of Rice yesterday and that seemed to really stick with me a little longer. Strange thing is that after abot 3/4 cup of that I was less uncomfortable than I am from just plain liquid. Such a learning curve !! -
Good luck to you both! It will be over before you know it and you'll be on to the next level of torture...JUST KIDDING:biggrin:...think how fast a week goes by in your life and just know that you will so far down the road by then. It's hard for me to believe a week has passed for me and I'm headed back to work tomorrow...no regrets here! Will be thinking of you both!

Dr. Will not let me drive!!!
With His help replied to healthyagain's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It is so interesting to read the differences between doctors. Mine never mentioned any driving restriction. Now I'm wondering if I'll be ok for Monday. I feel like I could drive now if I had to, but wouldn't particularly enjoy it. -
Hey guys...y'all are a day ahead of me and I'm hoping today was a better day for you. I still haven't had a BM so the doc is really pushing liquids. My pain is better but still feeling alot of tightness in the upper abdomen. Let us here how you are!

Angie - I totally agree! I've been on the site even more since my surgery and it has been so therapuetic. We must keep the faith! My new moto these days is from Finding Nemo - "just keep swimming, just keep swiming, just keep swimming"
-
Wow Stacey - i'm impressed you were in and out so fast and are doing so well. I'm one day ahead of you and last night was when the gas really started for me. I'm doing lots of walking and lots of fluids per the doctor this morning. Overall, today has been much better!

Kitty - Looks like you've taken a positive step just by being here. Read, read, read... and know that there is hope!

One week post op and terrible Gas pains
With His help replied to hsbeach's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 24 hrs post op and also having gas pains. I'm really confused though, I thought we were going to be passing gas - flatulence. I have yet to pass any. How does the gas dissipate? -
Chuckles - Seems like it's been a long 24 hrs! I reported to the hopsital at 8:00 and did a little paperwork. Then they took us right up to my room. At that point I changed into a gown and gave them a urine sample. About 9:00 they took me into the holding room where I answered more questions, met with my Dr. and the anethesiologist. He started me on an IV and the next thing I knew I was waking up in recovery. I was having a hard time catching my breath and couldn't speak at first, but it wasn't traumatic or anything. I was in the holding room for abot 45 mins and then I asked to be moved to my room (crying baby was hard to take). So , by 11:30 ish I'm back in my room with family. I napped a little off and on and started the breathing exercies. By 2:00 I was up and walking (slowly) and they released me around 4:00. Last night was not fun, I won't lie. But it's a new day and I'm hoping the healing will begin quickly. I do have a few questions that I'm going to check out here and I already understand what they mean about a steep learning curve. the first time I took my liquid Loritab it came right back up! Thanks so much for your prayers !

I'm scheduled for 1/16. Have been on pre-op for two days and still alive:clap2:. Good luck all!
-
Momto3...How did it go? Sending you good thoughts!
-
Jim - I really relate to this one. It is like a loss...I've been feeling that way more and more as my date approaches. I'm trying really hard to remember that this "friend" has not been good for me and that despite the loss, I will be happier in the end. My biggest fear has to do with socializing. So much of my life is spent with friends and family in food/alcohol related activities. I'm going to have to learn to enjoy these events while ignoring the part I'm missing.
