The fat free short cut is basically just the eye out of the ribeye cut of bacon, with all the fat trimmed away. It's a very popular cut here, although it's a bit more expensive than fatty bacon. It is delicious though - all the yum of bacon with none of the guilt! The difference is about 130 cal for 125g of fat free, vs 375 cal for the same amount of a regular fatty middle rasher, and 1g of fat compared to 17g for the fatty bacon!! Shortcut Middle rashers PS: The short cut isn't turkey bacon or "reconstituted bacon-like substances", it is real bacon - just the flesh part with none of the fat.

OMG, I posted yesterday... YESTERDAY!! And already there are over a 100 new posts! You guys talk too much! :w00t: hehehe Anyhoo, pjtp: I made up this soup recipe last night, as an amalgamation of several others, and it turned out DELICIOUS!!! Easy peasy to make and really low cal/low fat too! Cauliflower, Zucchini and Bacon Soup 1/2 large head of cauliflower, chopped roughly 1 large zucchini, chopped roughly 125g pkt shortcut fat free bacon, diced finely 1 teaspoon butter 500ml Continental or Campbells Liquid Vegetable Stock Freshly ground pepper Melt the butter in the bottom of the soup pot. Add bacon and soften for a minute or two (don't brown), then add veges and pepper and soften for 5 mins more. Add stock to pot, bring to boil, cover and simmer for 20 mins until veges are really soft. Put everything in a blender (just fits my 2 litre) and whizz for 1 min. Return to pot and stir over low heat, season with salt/pepper to taste. It might need a tad extra water (say, just enough to rinse out the blender as you pour it back into the pot) but it is meant to be very thick, so don't put too much in. Serve!! It makes at least 6 bowls and the WHOLE pot only adds up to 380 calories/5g fat, so it's roughly 60 cal a bowl - and just YUM!! (If you use fatty/streaky bacon, the counts go up very quickly!) Enjoy  PS: @ Plain, I enjoy liver, kidneys, brains and many other organs in my mouth

PJTP: Now THAT's how it's done!! I've been struggling to lose this year and last had a fill in March. At the time, my surgeon said things like "oh well, you've reached the goal I had in mind for you, so I don't think you need to come back". I have plastic surgery in December and I was hoping to have lost 15kg this year but I have only lost 5kg, but I've been reluctant to go for another fill because of my doc's comments. I finally decided, bugger it! I need another fill!! I mean, I ate a complete roast lamb dinner on Saturday night AND followed it up with a big dessert!! I NEED a fill! So this time, I made the appointment with one of the surgeon's "assistant" doctors, and she's listened to me, and not just agreed on giving another fill but wants me back every four weeks for adjustments until the surgery date! YAY!! Maybe I'll FINALLY see some decent movement in the scale, instead of this piss-farting around with 0.5kg up and down each month...

*hugs* Kat (with a K!) I would be feeling sick at the stomach too Our grandchildren are so precious and it is so hard to not step in and take over in situations like that (at least, it is for me!). I know my daughter is a great mum and her hubby is a great dad, but if that were not so, I could see myself being the interfering grandmother big time...

It was my 2nd granddaughter's 4th birthday last week and we had the party yesterday (Sunday). The theme was "Pirates and Fairies" and I talked Chris into dressing up for it!! My honey and I: My adorable #2 granddaughter (Charlotte Ashleigh): My adorable #1 granddaughter (Kayla Rose):

Thank you, heartfire!! I've never been into shopping before but I am really getting into it now. Bought some lovely new tops on special last night (and yes, several patterns, one of them really LOUD but it works!) and the sexiest pair of shoes! My honey says he's taking me out for dinner and dancing tonight, so I get to wear my new red dress and my sexy shoes  YAY!

I think I'm becoming a shopaholic . After all these years of shopping being a nightmare experience that always ended with me standing in the middle of a shopping centre, clutching a bunch of notes and tears running down my face, I am finally enjoying the experience! I can't express how different it feels to walk into a store and see lots of cute stuff, try it on and have it FIT and even actually LOOK GOOD!! I can't help myself when that happens - I have to buy it! I have SOOOOO blown my clothes shopping budget for the rest of the year!

I can relate to this really well at the moment. I'm in a new job where no-one has ever seen me before I lost the weight, and I'm finding it so weird that no-one knows me as "the fat girl" or even "the fat girl who lost a lot of weight". I've been so used to that for so long, it is just odd to see how people relate to me without that stigma being in the way at first. There is also a woman here, who is very large and seems pretty unhappy about it. A part of me wants to go up to her and have a quiet talk, but another part of me remembers how much that would have humiliated me if someone had said something like that when I was that size.

Congrats on the NSV, Susan!! I think that moment when you finally fit into "normal" clothes off the rack in "normal" stores, is the very best one of all. It is a feeling like no other...so many different emotions.

Thanks everyone for the kind words about the red dress. I didn't wear it though (saving it for my birthday next month). We had a fantabulous time - danced our asses off, played on the roulette tables, let strangers try to chat us up and then did the runner, hehehe. I wore the outfit I had bought at the same boutique a couple of months back and, even if I do say so myself, I think it looked smokin'! Zelli took lots of photos on her camera, so when I get copies of those, I'll post one of my AngelBaby and I, but in the mean time, this is the one she snapped of me on my phone camera: PS: My drink of choice is almost always scotch and water in a big glass. I can't do bubbles, so coke and/or soda are out, fruit juices have way too many calories to go drinking a bunch of them and neat liquor (like martinis, etc) gets me sloshed way too quick. I can nurse a scotch in a pint glass of water with lots of ice for an hour or two and get in 2 or 3 over the course of an evening, without blowing the diet or getting messy quickly. It also helps that it continually rehydrates me as I'm drinking, so is great for minimising hangovers.

I'll be joining you lushes tonight. My daughter and her girlfriends have booked a room at the 5 star casino/hotel in town and we're all going to leave the husbands/boyfriends at home, party our asses off, get seriously trashed, fall into a heap in the hotel at some ungodly hour, then crawl home to our other halves at some stage tomorrow, probably feeling very seedy and sorry for ourselves  I love this plan!

It's my AngelBaby's birthday today (she's 28!!) and last night I had a "surprise shopping party" for her. It was at a local fancy boutique, where you can book the shop for the night, invite about 8-12 people, they put on champagne and strawberries, give everyone a 10% discount, plus the host gets 10% of the total sales as an additional discount and everyone gets a free gift if they purchase something. The stuff in this boutique is absolutely gorgeous - clothing in all sizes and styles, fabulous jewellery, handbags, purses and hats... I could buy everything on their floor! The gifts were amazing too - mostly earrings that were retailing at around $30 a pair, and each one chosen specially by the staff to match what the person bought... I bought my daughter some exquisite shoes (she's going to take a photo with her phone and send it to me soon - I'll post it when she does); and bought myself a hot new dress! This is the first dress I've worn (except for my daughter's wedding 7 years ago) in over 20 years!! Excuse the messy hair and unflattering face pic but I love the dress...

    Perth Bandsters Get Together?

Okay folks, how about 2pm Saturday 29th August at my house? We could have tea/coffee and band-friendly munchies and say hi to each other... Or we could pick neutral ground out somewhere. I live in South Lake, just off the Kwinana Freeway, so very easy to get to. What do you all think?

    Perth Bandsters Get Together?

Hi Tegan. Are you north or south of the river? I'm south, but willing to travel. To all our other Perth bandsters, let's get our act together and make this happen!

Oooh! That's coming up soon!! (It's also my 2nd granddaughter's birthday). Good luck for the day! Don't worry, in no time at all, you'll be looking back on the day and saying "That's the best thing I ever did for myself!" I know I do!

How did you come up with your user name?

Hehe - trying to disguise your nature with that handle, eh? Mine was a character name in an online adventure game that I used to play (Ultima Online). I was sitting in front of the computer, trying desperately to come up with a new name (I'm really bad at thinking of names!) and remarked to a friend "Damn, I can think of sweet FA!", (meaning "f**k all"). He instantly recommended that I name my character Fanny Adams, which is polite slang here in Aus for "f**k all". The name rang a bell and I looked up the meaning - apparently the original Fanny Adams was a little girl who was murdered in the woods in the late 1800's. This fit in beautifully with the story line of the game, so Fanny Adams was born. I've had that user name in every online forum for the last 7 years now, and I answer to "Fanny" in real life, as easily as I do to my actual name (Sue).
