I hate it when people post just to post.....

Hi all, just checking in to let people know I'm ok. I live on the other side of the country from the fires, so safe enough over here but devastated watching the news unfold. The toll is up to 181 last I heard and predicted to rise much higher as they discover the bodies. It is very surreal watching - I can't even begin to imagine being caught in one of the many towns that were just engulfed - it would be all my worst nightmares come at once *shudders*. Anyway, sorry for not being in touch more - flat out busy selling my house and getting ready to move into the new one...
  2. Hi Christasha, Thank you for thinking of me. I am safe - I live on the other side of the country - but it is a tragic time for all Aussies. It is so hard to watch the news and think of all those poor people trapped and dying in flames... my worst nightmares come true.

Hehe - I'm the exact opposite. I won't go to the gym with anyone I know! I hate the idea of anyone that I know seeing me all red-faced and sweating. I go walking/jogging most mornings and my boyfriend has been joining me on some days. It's really sweet that he wants to share that and I won't begrudge him the exercise but I can't tell him that I really hate it when he comes with me :tongue2:. He runs faster than I do and I always end up feeling unfit, fat and frumpy when he comes.

I'm glad I fly in/out to my work on the mine site and don't live local, as the folks that live in Kununurra (180km away) and bus it back and forth from site are stuck here for the duration. The wet season has done it's usual trick and taken out the road and bridge and it looks like a week before it will open again. Poor bastards are stuck in camp for the weekend and all of next week. Looks like the camp food is going to be slim pickings too, coz the supply truck didn't make it through  Slideshow of more pics

How long is the liquid diet?

My surgeon gave me one of the most lenient post-op regimes that I have read about in this forum and even his rules do not allow for fish after only 2 weeks. From the "consider my surgeon dead" comment, I can only assume that you've become disillusioned with your surgeon for whatever reason. I suspect it might be simply that you're hungry and spitting the dummy a little, as we Aussies say, but if you've seriously given up on your relationship with your surgeon already, let me urge you to find another and to FOLLOW HIS/HER ADVICE. In the mean time, this was my regime which, as I said, it about as quick progress through the stages as any doctor will recommend: First 4-7 days: Clear liquids only - teas, juices, consomme Soups, stock, jellies. Next 7-14 days: Thick liquids only - all above plus creamed soups (not chunky), yogurt, very watery porridge. At 3-4 weeks: Mushies - all of above plus soft scrambled eggs, chunky soups, porridge, mashed vegetables, very soft cooked fish At 4-5 weeks: Soft foods - all of above plus mashed tuna, casseroles, minced meat dishes (e.g. bolognaise), cooked veges. At 5-6 weeks: Normal foods. First fill for me was at 4 weeks and that's also very early compared to most others. Don't let frustration due to hunger cause you to damage your body and your band. There is a reason why the doctors don't want you on solid foods too early - it is to give the scar tissue around your band to form properly (without your stomach churning from digesting solid foods), seating the band properly in place. This prevents slippage later. Even though you might not feel the repercussions from eating too early now, it is a leading cause of slippage and you could well have problems in about a year's time if you stray from the path now.

Hey folks - I've been AWOL for a while again but haven't forgotten you all! I've just been on the go non-stop all year and barely had time to scratch myself. Anyhoo, the news with me (if anyone is interested) is that a) the "new man" moved in with me this weekend! Whoohoo!! Pretty fast moving after only 3 & bit months! Even bigger news is that I bought a new house this weekend!! Yes, I am taking a big risk in this age of unemployment but my current contract got extended at the last minute for a few extra months, I had some great interviews last week for the next job after I finish up here and I am pretty hopeful that one of them is going to come through for me. The new house isn't any more in mortgage payments than my current house, so it doesn't really make life any harder or riskier, but it would be a lot harder to get the loans done if I wait till I start at a new job. Soooo... I am super excited!! This new house is all "mine" as far as the title deed is concerned but my man and I are going to move in (in about 4 months), renovate it over the next 3-5 years and sell it for a HUGE profit - and believe me, I know that the numbers will work out that way, I've done a lot of homework on this! When we sell it, we'll put both our names on the title deed of the next mortgage, as he will have "earned" his share with all the work he will be putting in plus paying half the mortgage while we are there... Wish me luck, folks!!

luluc, do you have a link to the details of how that pouch test thingy works? Since I had that kink in my tubing fixed in October, I've been feeling like I am back in Bandster Hell in the pre-fill days, although my surgeon swears he put all the fluid back (6cm at the time). I've had another fill since then but it was only 0.25ml, as the fill previous to the operation of 0.5ml turned out to be too much and I had to have 0.25ml removed. I'm still really struggling with hunger though and have lost all of my bandster habits of small bites and chewing thoroughly as I haven't had a problem with PBing or anything since the op. I'm eating fairly "normal" sized meals and just barely maintaining (been gaining and losing the same 3kg since October). I'm scheduled for another fill in February but in the mean time, I'm desperate for anything that might help to curb my appetite.

Speaking of your wife's photography skills, I seem to recall a certain someone promising that his wife would take proper pics of the full glory! So where are my pics, dammit!!! *stomps foot*
  19. Wow, look at you, Christasha!! You need a smaller shirt!
  20. Steph, you look FABULOUS!! Congrats!!
  21. It's been just over 12 months since I had the lapband operation. I finally have some current pics that I don't mind showing, so here's the comparison shots. Keep in mind that I still have 20kg I want to lose. The before pics :tongue2: The current Me:
  22. I missed the poll but that's okay coz my weight has just gone up and down the same 3kg since September. Here are my before and after shots: Before: After:
  23. Let's have our very own Non-scale Victories thread! My first one: I can do up the seat belts on the bus into work in the morning!! I work on a mine site and we get bussed from camp to site, and HAVE to wear seat belts (safety regs). The driver comes by to check before taking off and up till now, I've had to hide the fact that I couldn't quite click the buckle in. It's always been so embarrassing having anyone see me struggle and then have to hide my failure from the bus driver. This week, it was tight, but it did up every time!! YAY!
