Hi again, everyone. Sorry I was MIA over the weekend. I had the grandkids with me and we were busy! Unfortunately, that included being busy making chocolate crackles and caramel/nut/popcorn, so I didn't hit my goal this morning and have a major weigh-in with my trainer tonight Oh well... it was FUN making them!!

Way to go, Beth!! I'm desperate to get below 80kg - been hovering between 83 and 81 for months and closest I have come is in my ticker. Was back to 80.8 this morning but got my ToM today so I'll be bloated for the next 5 days. I always show a good 1-2kg drop on the day that I finish, though, so I'm REALLY looking forward to seeing the scale next Monday!

Oh boy... I just found a FaceBook page for the Applecross Senior High School's 30th Anniversary Reunion of the Class of '79. OMG... Thirty... count them... 30 years since I graduated high school! I thought the 20 year mark was bad enough, but 30?? :w00t: Mind you, I am SO going to this one!! I did go to the 20th Reunion and I remember being so embarrassed as I was one of the only ones, it seemed, that had blown up like a balloon since high school. I would have weighed in at around 100-105kg (220-230lb) at the time and that was the biggest I'd ever been, so facing everyone was so hard. Of course, I eventually ate my way up to 125kg (275lb) years later, so it could actually have been worse but it seemed as bad as could be then. I can't wait to go strut my stuff in front of those who kept staring and whispering last time. It's in October, and although I won't be at goal (ps op is in Dec), I'll be close and hopefully only about 75kg (165lb), so they'll notice the difference even if they didn't see the full rise and fall of Fat Fanny. Ye gods and little fishes, what the HELL am I going to wear??? :sneaky:

What? You don't like the bling look? :w00t: Only when Liz lends it to me!! But we're like that *crosses fingers*, so I get the use pretty often... I love my huge handbags - can't stand the idea of a teensy weensy dolly bird one - who can carry anything in those? It's a coach, silly!! I'm still wondering wth coaches have to do with handbags and purses though... KC's got you covered!! *waves demurely* Yes, yes you must!

Hmph! If one must ask such a vulgar question, one should be advised that the process is qute refined. Her Majesty simply lies back and thinks of England and the deed is done!

    I have a complaint!

I'm in Australia, Nanook, and we still use the English spellings for most things. It's quite odd really - if you look in an Australian dictionary, half the time it will list both the US and UK spellings and say that either is acceptable. However, amongst the older generations (of which, sadly, I am a member) using US spellings is very much frowned upon. It's also always great for a laugh to tease Americans about their spelling . It's almost as much fun as calling a Southerner a "Yank" and then pretending ignorance of the difference *whistles innocently* :smile2:

There you go again. There are only two o's in oops; yes, it was entirely necessary to capitalise NEVER; you have started not one but TWO sentences with "And"; and you'll touch the Queen at your own risk!! Be warned, the penalty is quite severe - you could be subjected to a very stern letter to the The Times and, believe me, you wouldn't want to risk that!!

    I have a complaint!

What an improper question! One should know that one never reveals the contents of one's Queen's purse! The very idea!! :smile2: Just for your information, one should also know that one NEVER lays hands upon one's Queen - a lesson that, sadly, TWO of our Prime Ministers failed to learn...sigh... Still, while we might also be rude and ignorant colonials like our American cousins, AT LEAST WE CAN SPELL!!
  14. Fanny Adams

    I have a complaint!

Indeed I do!! That is because I speak and spell the Queen's English, unlike my American cousins across the water, who speak and spell AMERICAN, not English! So yeah, you had better duck and right quickly too, girlie!! *throws U's at you*

Well now, HH, for someone pointing out the grammatical deficiencies in someone else's posts, you certainly don't appear to be perfect in this regard. To begin with, an ellipsis has only 3 dots, not the 5 you have used. Secondly, the phrase "real soon now", whilst being popular American slang, is neither a correct use of the word "real" (it should be "really") nor does it require capitalisation of each word. This point also applies to the capitalisation of the second "very" in your last sentence. Finally, the correct spelling is "restructure" - the hyphen is unnecessary.:smile2:

    Perth Bandsters Get Together?

Hi new folks! The get together (which I called for at the start of this thread nearly two years ago) never quite happened... *sigh* I guess we were all just a bit too busy at the time. However, if anyone is game for it, I'm still interested. I'm working full time back in Perth now (was doing FIFO to the mines before, which is why I was rarely available), so should be able to make most times. In the meantime, if anyone wants to chat, drop me a line

    Australian Bandsters Chat Thread

Hi drawingmagic and welcome to the site. Congratulations on the 22kg! That's a great achievement. However, soups and chips only doesn't sound too healthy. By this stage, you should be comfortable eating most food types (in small quantities of course!) If you are still only on liquids, it sounds like you are too tight. Have you had a fill in your band since the operation? If so, how much and how many? The idea of the band is that you adjust the fill levels until you reach the "sweet spot". That's the point where the band is curbing your hunger but you are not too tight to eat healthy solid food. If you've had some fills, it might be worthwhile having some taken out (just as easily done as putting it in!). If you haven't had any fills at all, you could be one of the lucky ones who doesn't need to fill the band, but you will need to be careful with your eating patterns to get yourself into a "good place" with food choices. One of the issues with the band is that once you start having trouble keeping food down, you will irritate your stomach if you keep trying and only make things worse. You need to move very slowly from liquids to solids through several phases. You may also find that you are really tight in the mornings but not so much in the evenings. If that's the case, do liquids only in the morning, maybe mushies for lunch and try something a little more adventurous for dinner, making sure that you chew chew CHEW! If you try to eat something solid in the morning and it makes you throw up, switch straight to liquids for the rest of the day and try the gradual approach the next day. If you tell us a bit more about your history, we might be able to offer more targeted advice and food recommendations for different times/stages.

Hehe - I have a friend in another forum who was an ER nurse and is now working on the ER helicopters. Some of her tales get seriously freaky! Looks like yours will be the same!

And last week was just stunningly beautiful weather... the Max was about the same, about 21-23C but the skies were totally clear and bright blue, lovely sunshiny days... I do love our winter. Summer on the other hand... PS: Ebony, you hang in there, mate!! I'm sending special DownUnder joo joo that a new job comes up soon for you!

Hehehe - make all the temperatures the same as the first two days (i.e. 71-73) and that's exactly our forecast here, in the middle of winter!

Thanks for the joo joo, all! The offer came in at $368,000, which is only $500 below the previous offer, and they are not Keystart applicants (earn too much money to qualify for the 1st Homeowner grant) so I've accepted of course! Financial approval is due in only 3 weeks instead of the usual 6. If that comes through, settlement would be on 18th September, so 6 days before my birthday - how cool! *crosses fingers, toes, legs, arms, eyes, anything crossable at all*

Third time lucky? Joo joo please! So after the Home Opens on the weekend (Sat & Sun), the RE agent tells me that there's a couple coming to his office tonight (Mon) to write up an offer. I turned down an offer a couple of weeks ago because it was too low, but the agent says this one will be somewhere in the right ballpark. If it is, I'm going to grab it with both hands, but also put in a 48 hour clause to say if another buyer comes along with finance in place, they have 48 hours to make their offer unconditional or I go with the new ones. I am SO hoping that this lot don't turn out to be lying scumbags like the last two. I am really over doing the Home Open thing every weekend and I just want to get started on my new house! We've already missed the winter planting season and life has just been "on hold" for months now, with almost everything we want to do being prefaced with "when we get to Forrestfield, we'll..." Wish me luck folks, that the offer is good AND that the people are genuine!

The best compromise is the one where you say, "well I'll never get it right by your standards, so you had just better do that yourself then, hadn't you?" Works a treat!! I don't iron OR wash my partner's clothes. I offered and made the attempt early on, but managed to turn one of his favourite shirts slightly pink and double creased the sleeves on another when I ironed it, and was politely asked not to do that any more. SUCH a hard request to comply with!! PS: Why would anyone fold shirts? That's what hangers are for!!

Isn't that just one of the weirdest side effects of the band? I now find that just the smell of anything being deepfried will almost have me retching - and this from a good Aussie girl with Pommy roots, who thought that deep-fried battered fish and chips was just the yummiest food ever!! Okay, somewhere in these posts someone put the recipe for mojitos and I missed it... I'm gonna have to go back and get it now, coz you've all made me way too curious! No you wouldn't!! Not in the slightest!! Just tell them you are trying to get a pic of the cute little bird tweeting in the background for an online friend that is a bit of a bird nut... they'll believe you!! Honestly!! You can even have them email me to check What she said! Ok, I have to be an exception to this rule! As a kid, I LOATHED broccoli, cauliflower and brussel sprouts and even today I refuse brussel sprouts in any shape or form and will only eat cauliflower in chinese food or smothered in cheese sauce, yet I've been known to drink like a fish! (Much less so after banding but still... I do love a drink now and then and that include virtually ANY spirits and most wines (not beer!) My partner will happily eat all of those vegetables and he also drinks a hot vinegar and water drink (eww!!) with breakfast each day, as he heard that it helps a lot with indigestion. No... you don't need a family, you need to GET YOUR ASS ON A PLANE TO AUSTRALIA and come and cook that for me every day!! :wink2: OMG, I think you just named all of my favourite food groups in one sitting!!
