  1. I have developed arthritis in my shoulders... I went to my doctor, he knows about my sleeve and knows I'm not supposed to take NSAIDs... He has prescribed Celebrex to me and said this medication will not cause stomach upset... I have not yet got the medication, but I'm wondering if I should take it since he prescribed or request to be referred to a rheumatologist. Would like your opinions.
  2. Thanks so much for the responses...

What do you take? Soreness without Advil

Thanks for all the suggestions and replies
  4. Can't take advil or other NSAIDs, so what do you take for the soreness? I just started lifting weights (trying to get buff LOL). I am very sore from lifting, but don't know what I can take to relieve the soreness. Looking for suggestions.

What do you take? Soreness without Advil

Someone suggested to me to stretch and use a foam roller. That foam roller did wonders for the soreness.

I meant to put that I had the sleeve. Thanks for replying inner and Ava. Ava, I'm going to check that out and talk with doctor. That would be great to get the NSAIDs back.
  7. My wife made some turkey for Thanksgiving and because we have both had the sleeve, we had plenty of leftovers. Now I've been trying to find ways to get my Protein and been very bored with chicken, fish, and turkey. My wife decided to make a pot pie with the leftover turkey and threw some things together and it was delicious. It made 3 days worth of meals and I loved every one of those meals. I decided today to try it without pie crust to see if it would be as good. It is fantastic so thought I'd share and see what you thought. It takes about 6 minutes to put it all together and will last a few days. Ingredients: 10 oz can of turkey (or same size chicken if you prefer) 10 oz bag of steamable frozen mixed vegetables (I use the Birdseye) 1 can of cream of chicken Soup 1 cup of shredded cheese Put the mixed vegetables in the microwave to steam according to package instructions Drain the canned turkey and mix with all the other ingredients in a bowl, mix well Add the mixed vegetables after they complete microwaving and have set the suggested 1 minute. Mix again Take a portion to heat in microwave and refrigerate the rest for more meals.
  8. I have discovered late dumping syndrome now. Went to a nephew's birthday party last week and ate some cake and ice cream along with everyone else. Few hours later at home, got to feeling very shaky, anxious, sweating profusely. I'm not diabetic, wife has type 2 diabetes so we checked my blood sugar with her monitor and my blood sugar was at 39.
  9. Yes, fortunately I was home in bed when it started.
  10. Definitely learned a lesson here @@Luvin_Life125 I will certainly think twice before eating sweets.
  11. Maybe I should say bored with trying to find something you want to eat. Tired of chicken, fish, turkey, and eggs. The only red meat I like is ground meat. Tried Protein bars for when just nothing sounded good, but those turned out to be (can't think of the term) something that started causing cravings. I eat greek yogurt for lunches at work. May just have to make me a chart with meats to eat for that day instead of trying to think of something that sounds good.

    PROTEIN SHAKES

I like the Cellucor Protein powder. Generally get the cinnamon swirl and smores. Mixes very easily with Water and great taste.
  13. I am just past 6 weeks and I never feel hungry. I eat only because I know I need to get those 3 tiny Protein meals in and a couple of Protein shakes to make up the difference. It seems thought that no matter what I eat (single egg cheese omelet, 2 or 3 oz of deli turkey, Beans, etc.) it just seems to sit heavy on my stomach. I take small bites, chew, chew, chew. Water, unless I add a flavoring to it now, sits heavy. For anyone else who's been through these feelings, do you remember how long this lasted? I'm actually looking forward to the day when I feel hungry again.

    Help with constipation

I've been told that if I go 2 to 3 days without a BM to start taking Miralax.
  15. Nurse practitioner tells me when I eat to take bites no bigger than half the size of my thumbnail and chew, chew, chew my food very well. I do take much smaller bites than what I used to and make sure to chew very well before swallowing, but half the size of my thumbnail? Just wondering if others have been told this and if you do it.
  16. I had to crush too for the first 6 weeks. So glad that is over.
  17. When taking your meds, how much Water do you drink with them? The reason I ask this is when I take my Ursodiol twice a day to prevent gallstones, they tend to sit in my stomach for a pretty good while. I take it before I go to work and about 2 hours after work. The only thing is I forgot it lastnight and remembered to take it just before I went to bed and my stomach hurt for a little over an hour. I take my meds with about 2 to 3oz of water, a very small "gulp" to get them down, then small sips until the rest of the water is gone. I'm wondering if I'm using too much water and not leaving enough acid to break down the meds.
  18. @@Elode I look at my thumbnail and think it's funny too trying to teach myself to eat that small of a bite, but maybe if I did I wouldn't have any painful episodes to worry with.
  19. @@lexie It's like having to learn how to eat and drink all over again. I get those painful episodes too and have to remember to take much smaller bites and chew slowly, bad habit I have to break from over 50 years.

    Never Hungry

Thanks for all the responses. @BLERDgirl I am taking the Prilosec OTC. I did just get some Wal-mart brand equivalent of Mylanta for the really bad times. Haven't used it yet, will see if that helps. @@AvaFern it's funny about you saying you bought about $15 then only ate a few crackers with hummus. I've ordered a few things in the past when I knew I had to eat, taken a few bites and I was full. Eyes sometimes still bigger than the pouch. Looking forward to see how much better things get as time goes on. @@JCP I get the same way, I try to keep from feeling that way, so I try to stay on a schedule to eat.
  21. I finally get to come off crushing meds on Monday YES!!! I was counting up the total number of "pills" that I would be swallowing including Vitamins and prescriptions and I have 14 tablets/capsules that I will be swallowing in a day. I was wondering if anyone has had any trouble with there sleeve after having starting swallowing meds. I will be splitting these into 4 different times of day.

    Having a hard time....

@abolen4 I prefer the Cellucor Protein powder and many on the forum enjoy the unjury. The Unjury is a little pricey for me though. How about Greek yogurt? You could try adding a little Protein Powder to that also.

    I've lost 45 pounds but.......

Also, you see yourself all the time, so you don't notice the small day to day changes. Try hooking up with a friend that hasn't seen you in a year or two and see what they say.
