Surgery on Monday and I am down 17 pounds (counting from 2 week pre op diet). About 6 of those pounds are since Monday. I am still on a clear liquid diet which has gotten old fast! Also still having gas pains in my shoulders. I can certainly tell that my stamina has diminished. So looking forward to some creamy soup on Sunday night.

Surgery tomorrow! Terrified!

Wow!! Mashed potatoes! I have been dreaming of food all night. Isn't that crazy? My MD here wants 7-10 days post op of clear liquids. I am sick of Gatorade and Powerade. Chicken broth seems so salty. True hunger has set in. Next week I can go to cream based soups and the week after that I can have mushy food. So it will be about a month before I can have fork and knife food. As far as weight, I gained some initially (maybe fluid retention?) but now I am back down to where I was prior to surgery. Wishing you continued good luck. Let me know how it goes with the food intake this week! -

@ GRE110, I hope your surgery went well. I was nervous all the way up until the anesthesia meds kicked in! All went well with me today! I ended up having a large hernia that the surgeon repaired. I had no idea of its existence and the MD said it will help with my reflux. I am more sore than anything. I have been walking laps in the house today since it is so hot outside. Hope to hear everything went great for you! (Btw my surgeon asked if I stuck with the pre op diet but did not ask how much I had lost). -

My surgery is tomorrow too. I have lost about 12 pounds on the Sugar Busters pre op diet. Like you, I don't know if that is any good but we are in the same boat! I am a bundle of nerves....trying to not think about it too much today but it is impossible. My surgery will be out patient and we will have an hour ride home. Good luck to you!! -
My surgery is scheduled for 6 a.m. on July 14....getting nervous!
