Fat&Thrifty.... You're going to the same doc as me in Mexico. I'll do my surgery on the 17th.. got a cheaper rate for the Thursday surgery.. I think its great that you both are doing this together.. My DH has NEVER had a problem with weight, he has great genes!!.. but he does understand that eating is problem, as he smokes.. I'm worried that won't understand my eating habits and not to push food my way.. It will be test for us both! LOL I'll be anxious to here about your experience in Mexico.. How have you done on your pre-op dieting? I'm dreading it big time. I've found Protein mix that's not to bad, instant Breakfast ok.. and favored tea will be my savior.. Good luck, let us hear... ok.. question here: about the pre/post op eating.. Is anyone using Slimfast? I thought about that to mix the Protein powder with.. any input? using it for both pre/post? I'm ready to get started this weekend on all that and I'm worried that I will stray.. I like the slimfast drinks, often using them for Breakfast.. so it would easy to continue with them, using the Protein Powder in them.. Also, has anyone used that new product, Special K-protein Water? kathy

glynda.. I'm going to Mexico for banding on the 17th. I'm self pay. did my homework, actually got hooked up with a former patient , talked to her, liked what she had to say, and now, I'm on my way.. Monterrey, Dr. Rumbaut.. nervous as hell, the pre-op diet is my biggest fear at the moment and possibly tearing off someone's head if I end up losing my mind !! LOL Do your home work, where are you? look at location, cost, support, etc.. make notes and lots of them, compare, re-read, compare again. get on this board and ask questions. this group of bandsters are great with answers and re-asking that other question that you didn't think of.. best of luck, Kathy

I'm close enough.. Huntsville.. I'm going to Mexico, self pay.. nervous as hell.. LOL more scared of the pre-op diet than anything !! LOL

flip.... I see your goal you set for your weight.. Did the doctor tell you a certain weight or did you decide that? I've heard some talk about the 'average' and some told by their doctor a certain weight they will achieve. I want to be realistic here, but 175# sounds great to me.. currently 365, medium frame- I've been told, 5'9" . so I'm anxious to hear if they will tell me a weight that is reasonable. I don't want to set myself up for failure if I can't realistically get there to begin with Merry Christmas all....

I'm not banded yet.. but here's my 2 cents ! Research is the key, but nothing is 100% perfect.. There is always that one chance that something will happen. No one is perfect, does that make the whole bad? no, not by my standards.. So here, there, pick your country, pick your doctor, just make sure that doctor is YOUR pic, not someone else's... RESEARCH is the key... WASaBubbleButt quotes it the best.. DO YOUR RESEARCH. via computer, phone, visits, etc.. just MHO.....

I'm not getting banded til January 08.. I haven't told to many, but if someone is talking about it, then I'll say it. My hubby didn't want me to be fake and take all the credit. !! that really stung for a few days, then I explained the procedure and HOW it will assist me in losing weight, get it, ASSIST me. anything can be beat. then he was all supportive. The problem I have encountered with telling, is the good ol' Have you tried diet and exercise? !! I nearly scream everytime I hear that, or the ones that want to share the latest diet with me. Of course these folks are over weight themselves or so dang skinny, you could choke them with one hand ! LOL So, my point is, I've shared with those that I am comfortable with. I do have some extended friends that won't be happy or do the happy face to me and stab me in the back after I walk off. But that's ok.. its my 'loss' that will win !!!

I did some research, Mexico is fine. The clinic will pick me up at the airport, get me back/forth to hospital/hotel.. The contact is in USA and they are great people. I've started incorp liquid meals in my daily eating. So I can get use to the idea of 'drinking' the meal, instead of chewing.

<p>I'm paying cash, going to Monterrey Mexico, Dr. Rambaut. $8900. doesn't include air fare.. I'll get the fills in Houston area, if not I'll go back to him. I won't get banded until January,2008... I'm nervous as heck and know that my life will change. I love to eat, but I don't want to be fat for the rest of my days on earth!!</p>
