How does the band slip of it's sutured to hold it down? I was banded on 10-03-07. I have lost 28 lbs. But I follow everything to the T. This is not a miracle cure. What has to change is one's attitude towards food. I am lucky not to have to be morbidly overweight. My BMI was only 35. I started at 210. I'm 5'6 and now I'm at 182. My goal is 150. I am very happy and I haven't had any problems so far. I wish it could be this way for everyone. I wish you luck in whatever you decide to do. As for all the other bandsters....keep up the good work!

It does feel that way in the beginning. Drinking something warm help alleviate it. All the symptoms you're having are normal. Congratulations!
-
Thank you so much! I am really trying. The only problem I have is anxiety and depression at times. Is this normal?

OMG! I was just banded a month ago and you guys have scared the heck out of me! I haven't had any problems and have lost 15 lbs. I eat very slow and chew everything well.I have never slimed, vomited or Pbing yet. I hope I can do this. It now seems scary!

Not if it brings you peace of mind. That's all that really matters. If your gut feeling tell you to take it out....then do it!

It a matter of personal choice. I am very happy with my experience there. i have healed nicely and have felt no discomfort. I have called back and spoken to Dr. Ortiz and his staff and they have been very supportive to all my needs. I watch him here in our local health program,, visited the clinic before I went, he showed me all the facility before hand and i was impressed. I worked as a OR nurse and his equipment is state-of-the-art. I would recommend him to anyone. Incidently I noticed that you're close to your tummy tuck, I'm sure your insurance will pay for it, but if not go see Dr. Rodrigo Viladosola. He has done tucks on numerous family members. He is located in Mexicali ,He's great. Good Luck.

All I know is when I was wheeled into the O.R he was there with the anesthesiologist. Whom e introducedto me I went irst at 9:30 and proceeded to see him come in and out after they wheeled me back into my room. He came in and spoke to me and I saw him there till about 5:30. Now once I was put under I can't tell you what happened. How do you know he doesn't? Did your Doctor in Mexico tell you he doesn't?

Hi, I just got banded on 10/03/07 by Dr. Ortiz. The experience was awesome! His clinic is immaculate with state-of-the-art equipment. They put you on antibiotic before the operation (IV) and for the next 24 hrs. You stay overnight and have a 24hr. nurse. The private rooms are beautiful (flat xcreen TV from San Diego station) comfortable hospital bed. Everyone was so accomodating and everyone speaks English. A driver picks you up the day before for pre-op and 2 days later takes you back to your vehicle. They have a local patient staff at 1866-376-7849 Lori or carol are very helpful. You can also call the clinic direct from that number. All questions are answer and they have a 24/7 access. Dr. Ortiz is well-renown and has written the book on the procedure. I am a nurse and investigated him before my decision was made. I think you will be very happy. By the way the hotel where your accomodations are made is beautiful equivalent to a Marriots here in california. Good Luck.

Has anyone experienced a hematoma by the port site?
CynthiaR replied to lfrarck's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you taking Adult Liquid Tylenol? Rite Aid carries it and it helps alot with pain and swelling. What does your surgeon say. I was banded 5 days ago and my port only hurts when I sneeze. Also try rolling on your side off the bed that helps. You also have too take into consideration that you're going to be more tender due to the repair of the Hernia. Check to see if your port isn't oozing any fluids or hot to the touch or very inflammed. Then you need to call your surgeon. I hope that you will be fine. Good luck!:whoo: -
Hi, go under ..obesitycontrolcenter.com and read all about Dr. Ortiz. I live in Plam Springs, Ca and he was on our local tv 'Wellness Hour" I was very impressed with his knowledge and the facilities. I was banded by him and his team on Oct. 3,2007. He has written the book on banding. Please look for yourself.

Thanks for the info. While it isn't just a " plastic" but a silicone elastomer, the great thing is that it is adjustable and reversible. Is the J&j device also? I'm glad it is because believe me , it's reassuring to know I can get more food if i'm losing too fast or less if needed. Titanium is great but I've know it to be beneficial for joint replacement. Isn't the "Realize" due out in December of this year? I like the fact that there is documentation regarding the success of the INAMED band. Its reputation speaks for itself. Good Luck to you whatever you decide.

I researched it and found that not only is it the safest, but Allergan Biometrics made and had the first "adjustable " bands approved. The Inamed is primarily used here in the states. Look it up for yourself. Allergan Adjustable Lap-Band- Biometrics. I read very little on the Johnson and Johnson. I am a nurse and I asked a lot of our local doctors here in California who band. They all preferred INAMED. Hope this helps. Remember this is was my "personal" choice. I am not criticizing anyone else's choice. Good Luck.:clap2::clap2:

Hi! I was just banded by Dr. Ortiz in Tijuana. The experience was excellent! You get top-notch care and everyone there is so attentive. His facility is beautiful and state of the art. Being a nurse and working the O.R. at one time, I noticed all his medical equipment. He also uses the drip-anesthesia method that makes you wake up right away and still in the operating room. I remember being awake, then awake again only this time it was after the surgery. I investigated Dr. Ortiz thoroughly, he is world-renown and a member of our own bariatic surgeons here in the U.S. He uses only the INAMED band , which is what you what. I would'nt have considered anyone else, honestly.E-mail me I will be happy to answer any questions.

Banded 10-2 and feeling seriously dehydrated
CynthiaR replied to mescla808's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, Get some gatorade, vitamin water and pedialyte popsicles. They all have electrolytes in them and will help you. Water didn't do it for me. Walking does make you thirtier. I too was banded just 4 days ago, my problem is diarrhea when I have that horrid broth!! Good Luck! -

I don't have one from this operation, but as a nurse I can tell you that Hematoma are slowly absorb but the body tissue. It takes time but it does go away. Or you can have your doctor aspirate it( OUCH!)..Good Luck -
Hi, I just got banded October 3rd. i'm 53 yrs. old I feel OK, but I just started my yogurt days and i'm having trouble with gas and Diarrhea!!! We have to remain positive no matter what!! Take one day at a time. Making the decision we did was a great move. I was banded in Mexico by Dr. Ortiz who is world-renowed. It was great. I weighed at 210. I look back and think of the alternatives (diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease) and I reassure myself I did the right thing and so did you! Good Luck! You CAN do this.
