This brings me to my other post on a different thread. The only testing I had done was an EKG, chest xr, and bloodwork. I didn't have an endoscopy, or ultrasound or cat scan... What if he sees something while he in there?? Are there signs/symptoms of a hernia? -

Did you all know that you were having a hernia repaired? Or was this something the doc discovered while he was in there? -
Hello, I started my whole process in August and chest xr, blood work and ekg were only part of my pre op testing. I see everyone on here going for ultrasounds, cat scans, sleep apnea studies. I'm starting to feel worried that I didn't have to do all that. I'll bring it up to my Dr's attention on next visit, but should I be concerned. I mean...what if he goes in for surgery and I have a problem we didn't know about. Now...I'm scared!

Yea, that's what I keep reading. I guess the doctor says 3 hours , so if I'm in there for 2hrs, my mother is not having a heart attack in waiting room thinking I should have been done an hour ago. Lol -
Ohhhh ok. I see. Thanks

Pending approval, we secheduled a date 1/21/15. I could have scheduled sooner, I I felt better having more time to mentally prepare and besides, I have way to much running around during the holidays! Any Sleevers in the new year yet????

Has anyone with RA been told that they need an approval letter from their Rheumatologist stating that it's ok to come off of your RA meds (IF NEEDED) during the time of surgery. If yes, Were you taken off of your RA meds? What RA meds are you taking? I was told that the RA meds would slow down the healing process (because of immunosuppressants) and can cause a leak if taken during that time. And on the other side, im soooooo not looking forward to a RA flare. Just asking if anyone was on Enbrel and plaquanil and was still able to take em.

Rheumatoid Arthritis meds and surgery
boosh10 replied to boosh10's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My rheumy is only approving me to be off my Enbrel for 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after. Nothing longer. I'm scared now cause the surgeon mentioned RA meds and leaking. Has ANYONE stayed on RA meds like Enbrel (not other meds like mtx, plaqunil) during this process? -

Don't go out of your way to find out, but if she happens to mention the name again, I'd appreciate it. I definitely would bring it up to my doctor @@GreenEyes604 -

Heyyy , did Your Dr. Happen to mention the name of that shot? Maybe I can look into it and talk to my doc? -
I had my psych eval on Monday and without realizing that she was asking these questions for a reason. She asked if I get lower back pain? And joint pain and how I am with stairs? Well...stupid me, I Dont get back pain and I Dont really get winded on stairs. And its hard to determine if all my joint pain is from my rheumatoid arthritis or the weight on top of it. I did tell her that I can't squat though! I realized now that she was kinda helping me out saying...well, you prob would be a little better w/o the extra weight and so on. So...I'm wondering if she's going to put in the report that I can still do that stuff and the insurance will see it and deny it?!?!
