  1. Hello, I am about 6 weeks out from surgery and have experienced everything you guys are going through. I had the same pain at my belly button and the muscle pulled through to my back, but my pain was on my right side. I guess this depends on where and how your surgeon did his work. You have to remember they cut through nerves and everything so it will feel funny. My pain lasted through 4 weeks, it hurt even to sit down. I can tell you one day I woke up and it went away, but I also was taking it really easy. There is a stitch there my surgeon told me and I swear I could feel it poke/tickle my abdomonal wall. It was the weirdest feeling, and when I would touch/rub around by my belly button and to the side it was soooo tender and felt funny. I can tell you this that it is normal and it does go away. I also stay bloated/swollen) for the first 4 weeks before it felt like my belly went down. I never measured myself, but I am sure if I did it would say I gained inches as well. I could feel it. Things will get better and you will start feeling better. Just hang in there.

  2. How is everyone doing? I have noticed I can eat a little more. I am assuming this means my stomach is healing or (healed). I am loving my sleeve. I am feeling more energy. Just trying to get an exercise routine down. It's hard for me I work 3 12 hour over night shifts in a row. Those days I don't get much accomplished, but on my days off I am trying to get my routine going.

  3. So I woke up in the middle if the night last night with the most horrible acid reflux. My throat was on fire and I could feel it all the way down to my stomach. Water wasn't helping so I took some pepto bismol which was a life saver. However, my surgeon had said not to take pepto cause it can cause ulcers but when I look online other bariatric places say it protects the stomach. Have you guys heard anything about it? I only took a half dose since I don't have a full stomach anymore and was kinda afraid to take it, but I needed relief at 1 in the morning!

    Are you taking a PPI?

  4. So I am getting ready to start my period this week and the scale showed that I gained 1 lb. I was so upset si center I've been excersiceing alot. The only thing is I haven't been getting all my Protein in for the last 2 days. Ugh so bummed. Has anyone else had this happen?

So let me tell you only after two weeks out I had gotten my period. Well it came back with a vengeance! Not only was I swollen from surgery but bloated as well. I lost nothing that whole week! My period stayed around a little longer than normal and was heavier, but apparently that's normal after surgery. Stick it out don't be alarmed if you don't see the scale move this week and just stick it out. It will be better when it's over!

  5. QUESTION:

I had my sleeve on the 18th and I am still having tender/pain in my abdomen by my belly button off to the right. Like a muscle there was affected. Does anyone else still have some pain/ tenderness? I have contacted my doctors office and the nurse said it sounds muscular and to take tylenol and IF it gets worse contact them again.

  6. @@DownPat I use sparkpeople but that's only because I have used them for years and I am use to the setup. I seem to be averaging between 400 - 500 calories a day and about 45g of Protein. I have bought the unflavored protein powder and try to sprinkle it in stuff when I can. I also seem to be having a harder time getting more Water in now that I am back to work. I am having such problems with Constipation from it. I saw someone on here had some kind of water protein mix thing that was 15g protein. I need to look into getting that. So how are you doing? and what are some numbers that you are coming up with? I find it a little hard to accurately track all food because I might of dished out 2oz of something doesn't mean I ate the whole thing either.

  7. I am 3 weeks out and nothing but broth really sits well with my sleeve. I've tried chick salad tuna salad egg salad and fish. I miss my liquid diet already. The thing is with broth I'm not getting enough protien in. Plus I'm excersiceing and burning between 400-500 calories a day. I've lost 20 lbs and am thrilled with my weightloss.

Just a suggestion. Start with just applesauce and then go from there. For myself mayo makes me so sick to my stomach that I break out in a sweat. So if you want chicken salad trying mixing it with greek yogurt stay away from mayo. I know eggs don't settle well with me yet, and I figure since mayo is made by eggs maybe that's why not sure. I am hoping over time it goes away cause I love egg salad and chicken salad. So just keep trying different things.

  11. @@DownPat so my doctor gave me noth the Celebrate and Bariatric Advantage but both of them are so strong they make me terribly sick for the rest of the day. Unfortunately my doctor is very ANTI over the counter Vitamins but my best friends doc told her to get the vita fusion chewable and that's what she takes and her blood work has been coming back great. So that's what I went and got and have been taking. The celebrate was the worse for me and mixing it with food only made me sicker. You just have to keep trying different things.

  12. August 20th sleeved today Monday for past few days feeling really tired and worn out. Just ate 2 bites of my scrambled eggs got a pain in my chest ( scary) my husband said I ate too fast. Now I am laying down. Tried drinking crystal light disgusting and too sweet yuck.. Omg will I ever b sone wat normal again? I can't even tidy my house no flipping energy in my entire body. Tell me this is temporary. Wat have I done I keep asking myself.

OMG Karen I feel the same way sometimes!!! I just start crying, but fortunately I have a wonderful friend that lives by me. She was sleeved in February and has lost 160lbs. I call her all the time. I said the same thing to her. What did I do? She tells me it gets better. So much better. As you lose weight, heal, and can eat more your energy comes back to you. When you se the weight loss you won't miss eating some old food, why would you want to she said. Why go back and take away all that weight loss? You did this for the weight loss, and I have noticed like with so many other diets where I would try and rush the weight loss I find myself trying to rush my healing process. We just have to reminds ourselves to SLOW down. We had just had major surgery!! Of course we are tired surgery + limited nutrition coming in so it's going to take a little bit to even out. Everything will be ok.

  13. @@motherof5 give it time. I felt the exact same way. Had these horrible spasms right in the middle of my chest. It hurt! But eating yogurt seemed to help soothe that, not sure why. Give it time. I am just 2 weeks out and notice as I am healing how I can tolerate my Protein Shakes much better and can drink more. You are just very swollen give it some time it gets better, but definitely an emotional roller coaster.

  14. @@mskiesha29 so what I found I really like for an alternative to ice cream is take plain Greek yogurt put in Splenda or trivia to sweeten and a scoop of polanders all fruit jam or you can use smuckers simply fruit (I like the strawberry) blend well or in a blender and then freeze it. When you take it out of the freezer let it thaw a few minutes to soften. It really tastes so good and you are getting in Protein from the Greek yogurt. Hope you try it!!! I was skeptical at first but really do enjoy it.

  15. I just went to the NUT this morning and he told us to buy a chewable or Gummy Vitamin over the counter and take 2 a day. Is that not normal?

From my findings apparently that is normal for some, but my doctor insists it has to be bariatric Vitamins. They claim they are made different for us to absorb. That we can t absorb the over the counter ones the same and in a long term look we could end up with some kind of Vitamin deficiency. So as tempted as I am to buy the gummy over the counter chewable they have me scared out of my mind not to.

  16. I'm still pre-op, so I don't know how I'll handle it after my surgery, but right now I am taking 3 Vitaleph Multivitamins per day. They are the bariatric brand that's pushed pretty heavily by my surgeon and his staff. Here's a link:

    http://vitaleph.com/index.php?p=search&category_id=13

So far I haven't had any issues with them upsetting my stomach or anything. But, again, I'm still pre-op.

Edit: One bottle is 90 capsules, so a one-month supply. They are pretty pricey, but I don't think they're much more than Bariatric Advantage.

Thank you... They seem to be about the same as Bariatric Advantage so they probably would make me sick as well. Best wishes for you when you get sleeved! Trust me when I tell you everything so different after surgery. For the first 7 days I even had a heightened sense of smell as if I were pregnant again. So weird

  17. So for those of you who had alot of pain right from the beginning (and I'm not talking gas pains, but the muscular and shooting type pain) how long did it take for that to go away? I'm on day 3 and still feel like I've done a million sit ups and someone is repeatedly stabing my abdomen.

I don't feel that I had a horrible amount of pain, but everyone's tolerance and experience is different. What I can tell you is I remember at some point thinking the same thing you are and being 10 days it's gets better with each. It might not feel like that the first 5 days but there is gonna a day you wake up and think to yourself gee I feel so much better than yesterday.
