I did drive from Oceanside to Irvine last Thursday, I believed, based on the information here. You can imagine my disappointment when you cancelled this meeting at almost 6 p.m., which was 35 minutes before it was supposed to start. I had been on the road since 4:30, and was already there when I got your message on my phone. There are also no fewer than 6 different seating sections outside Starbucks by the grassy area you mentioned. I hoped someone else also may have made the effort to go, and we could meet, but it was impossible to connect with anyone with the identifiers you provided. I don't think I will spend the hours in traffic, and spend my time and gas again. I would advise anyone who does consider going on July 2 to get a firm confirmation that the next time it won't also be cancelled 35 minutes before it starts. There really has to be a higher level of responsibility if you really want to start a group.

Hi MommaCEO, I finally found this chapter. I private mailed you, but I wanted to post here as well. I live in Oceanside and am interested in attending the June 18 meeting in Irvine. Will you be posting details? It's only 2 days away. Thanks. Nancy

CA- Orange County
EasyGoinGal replied to GoalInProgress's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hi I live in north San Diego County. I had lapband surgery 4 or 5 years ago and could use a support group. I know there used to be a group in San Diego, but I don't know if it is still going. My laptop is being repaired but I wonder if a google search of something like weight loss surgery support groups in San Diego would bring up anything. -
I know this will not be popular, but I see Dr. So in Dr. Ortiz's office in Tijuana for fills. I also go once a year for a checkup. I went about a month ago.

Like I said, you can pm mail me for further details. Basically, I had a complication from Dr. Kuri;s surgery and called Dr. Kuri's office for help, with no response. I live in the San Diego area, and a friend almost carried me over the border to his office. I assumed there was just a language problem. Wrong. I was doubled over, cryng, and being almost carried. The staff was not interested and said I needed to get in back of the "fill line" if I had a question for one of the doctors, which was a wait of several hours. When I did, the person doing fills just looked at me and said I looked pale and should go home and rest. I asked them to put in a call to Dr. Kuri. They said they did, but that there was no answer, and no answering machine, and no paging system. I had no other experience with Dr. Kuri's office other than the surgery itself. Thankfully, Dr. Ortiz's office took me in immediately. I have been with his office every since. I regret my decision to have my lapband surgery with Dr.Kuri. I posted a review several years ago, but I can't find it now. Dr. Kuri has a huge sales force with a significant presence on many lapband forums, and often swoops in to attempt to discredit anyone with a different opinion of Dr. Kuri, so I usually don't post anymore. It is not my intention to enter into an argument with Dr. Kuri's sales team. This is my own experience. I have no interest in or connection to any doctor's office.

I was banded by Dr. Kuri and am now treated by Dr. So in Dr. Ortiz's office. There simply is no comparison. I had a horrible horrible experience with Dr. Kuri. I'm surprised he's only had one death in his practice. You can private email me if you want any other information. I totally trust Dr. Ortiz, the other physicians in his office, and the office staff.

I was also banded by Dr. kuri and had a horrible experience. I have had my lapband two years ago this month. I had several complications. When I called his office, I could never talk with a doctor. I went to his office and was told I had to get in line with the fill people to talk with a doctor. I was told to drink hot tea and sent home. Two weeks later I again went directly to his office after being unable to talk to either Dr. Kuri or any other doctor. I was doubled over and holding my stomach. This time the office manager started hollaring at me for posting a complaint about the first time I went and couldn't get any help. Amazingly, they wouldn't help me. I went home and got on the internet and found a wonderful lapband doctor in Tijuana who I went to. He corrected the problem the next week. To answer your question, I went to Tijuana last week for my yearly checkup with my amazing lapband doctor. It was not at all crowded walking over the border, but everyone said it was safe, and there were police all over the city. I was a little apprehensive, but everyone welcomed me and I did not see anything that alarmed me or made me think there was any danger. My taxi driver said there were problems mostly in certain cities and mostly with known drug runners

Nope, I just made my appointment with Dr. Kuri. My surgery is going to be December 1. Anyone else out there have the same date with him? -

Hi Pete, I'm about to make my appointment with Dr. Kuri. I'll see if Dec. 5 is available for another person. It would be fun to email in the days before we go. Nancy
