wow..I am having a "compulsive moment" here! I can not believe I read this thread! lol...it was like a car wreck I couldn't take my eyes off! haha...I'm throwing my 2 cents in and I don't care if anyone is looking out for grammer or improper puncuation marks but I just want to mention which I read on another post I have family members who are dyslexic and bc of the stigma (yes I abbreviated a word) went through life and is now in the 70's age to this day never went to get help and when they even mentioned it yrs ago to get help well it didn't happen. to this day they are soo self conscience it has taken a toll . I understand this is a "rant" thread. we all need to rant at times, and I know no one cares what I think but there is other issues to me that are worse off. I am no where near perfect and I will admit I am one that pops in and I have noticed that especially when I intend to write the word "and" it almost never fails "an" gets copied! AND if that bugs someone to no end then I don't know what to say about that other then "get real". lordy lordy...thats my 2 cents..haha..my rants over! OH I almost forgot..I am a txt'r and if I am in a hurry uh yea I do abbr alot! so if it bugs anyone just keep scrolling! bc it's not changing here.. just sayin! now carry on. I'm going to scroll and see if there's any other new comments on this thread.. and 1 more thing for newbie's..glad your here!

I am a "realist" and this surgery is NOT for everyone. its the toughest thing I have ever done and it does require total commitment...I may get slammed for this comment but its definitly not for the weak at heart (or stomach) and I am NOT judging I am stating a fact for anyone looking into this sleeve. just saying...now..carry on

Can I get a hug and maybe some guidance?
blondebomb replied to ilikecake2much's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I soo wasted 30 yrs and self denial and sick for 25 of them yrs. yo yo dieting all them yrs. the more I lost the more was gained each time! by 50 yrs old 2 specialist sent me to WLS I had hit over 270 pds and 30 of it in 1 month. I have ended up over these yrs with over 12 dx's. thyroid disease and prediabetic as 2. If I hadn't done this and it was strictly my decision and being sick and tired of being sick and tired and the buying the plus size numbers just kept going up and up!! ugh..truthfully disgusted and angry with myself bc of being sick. I was NOT a binge eater. emotional crutch sure. love eating?? no..I ate to fill a void that I had finally come to terms with and got to the bottom of the issue. when I reached that peace out of the blue both these dr's in the same week directed me to the sleeve. my endocrinologist said I would continue to just get bigger and bigger even only eating less the 1000 calories a day that I was consuming. I refused to end up a couch potatoe and miserable and hardly getting up and down and wasting another minute of my life being obese. I said enough was enough for me. this was my life saver. I didn't tell but a select few which was my hubs which is my biggest supporter and he looked at this as being able to not only get healthy but to help him as well he is diabetic yet watches his diet. before I knew it I filled out the surgeons questionnaire was called within 5 days had my 1st app was enrolled in all required preop classes had blood work, already had the required tests done a yr earlier by my internists so the surgeon already knew what was going on with me..I was 3 months from 1st app to surgery day and now I am reaching my 9 month PO in another wk and over 100 pds down I swear its the best thing I ever did. my extended family and friends still don't no and that's cool with me. it was hard enough mentally and emotionally going through the withdrawals without others giving their uneducated opinions. that worked for me. but the benefits sure does outweigh the risks. I was already on the wrong path we stopped it dead in its tracks. yea I second guessed my decision till the night before surgery its normal..I was scared but excited for a new body and life and I was willing to turn my life around. soo happy I did this. do your research. I don't use food. it doesn't control me. I control it to live. I have replaced food with other things. these positive changes you can use to benefit your immediate family. I love the restriction this sleeve does. I watch what I eat. I had to change my thoughts our society has us programmed and slammed with commercials on food and out of controlled portions. my choices on my plan has worked and the baby tummy has been a blessing! I am glad you found this site. you'll learn alot...you'll find the good/bad/and the ugly to all sides. everyone is different and have their personal struggles. but in the end this site is for ones who are either thinking about or are veterans with yrs of wisdom and experiences that has helped me tremendously! I'm thankful for this site and I am thankful for my dr's looking out for my welfare and directed me to the right place ..my surgeon. I am 51 and my life now is better then ever despite my diseases! there is hope and I am living and active and sitting on the way side watching my life go by and I am not having the pity party I was in for yrs no more! I have cleaned out my closet 4 times already and luv shopping again! 27 yrs have gone by that I can not get back. wish you the best sorry I'm so winded! lol..I walk with my head high now and not hiding on the sides... keep us posted dear.. -
Gastric Sleeve 24 hours ago...? stomach/esophageal spasms
blondebomb replied to simonla1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the esophagus spasms for 2 wks. I had my hernia repaired. had no issue with the stomach at all it was sipping issue. it was awful! for this reason I told my surgeon I was staying in another night to get the fluids I needed through the IV bc I knew if I went home I would end up in ER with dehydration. so I was in over 48 hrs hooked up. it helped soo much! yes I still sipped. but I was grabbing my chest with every dang sip! I ended up getting a script for liquid nova-cane. my internist gave it to me. it didn't take much and he told me to make sure I put the spoon as far back as possible then swallow I didn't need my whole mouth numb! lol..it wasn't bad at all the med but it did help. speak up if your able to stay another night do so. I did and it helped. I had taken my heating pad with me to the hospital also so I kept the heating pad on my chest on low I still had the spasms but it felt good to have the pad. I feel for ya I went through this. -
Food was my unhealthy friend..bad association. It doesn't control me no more. I eat to live..????
-
I feel so down most of the time and I always believed it's cause of my size but I am thinking now it mayb just one small part of one bigger issue! i hate to ask this but I'm going there ..are you in treatment by a psychiatrist as in are you getting your meds from tgem or a MD? I feel your pain. I've suffered thru different forms myself. Psychotherapy also helped me alot. Aldo remember your brain is having serious withdrawals and cravings..so hopefully it wont last 2 much longer on the head demanding the food junky ..if u know what i mean. Mine lasted 4 wks after that 4th wk it stopped. I kept telling myself no..do some online shopping look at cute clothes ..baby steps. One day at a time. Hang in there..it'll hopefully pass..I'm down to wellbuterin an it helps so much. Xx

I'm not at liberty to give medical advice on what it could be or not but if you hadn't already put a call in to your surgeon I would encourage you to. I don't mess with pains that don't feel normal after having major surgery like this. thats me :/..one qustion..are you getting your fluids in throughout the day and protein? thats all Im going to ask..
-
I didn't read all the comments but any loss is celebration!! just thought I'd share what helped me..protein 1st, drinking my fluids staying hydrated, I know everyone's differant I was 4 or so months out before I even ate any fruit bc of the sugar/carb content any sugar slows down the loss..that's how it affects me even before surgery I don't even do natural fruit juices but very seldom when I do its very little, my diet guidelines were no breads, pastas, white rice. crackers, potatoes, starchy veggies till I reach goal and I am 8 months out I figure I have a few more months before I add a little of something like these. the less sugar or even artificial sweetner the better I do. I use stevia as my sweetner or a little raw sugar. I was even out to 4 months still doing the pure protein shakes or chike my tummy was very sensitive for the longest time even eating a scrambled egg I did good to get 2 or 3 bites in at 1 seating. I do eat healthy full fat , I eat the regular cottage cheese and I think the kroger carbmaster or something like that yogurt is the only thing I eat that has an artifical sweetner other then the plain chobani yogurt, I always eat my proteins first then I'll fill in with a green beans or roasted brocolli or grilled zuchinni as my veggies with lunch or dinner when I end up not drinking a shake. I do meals moslty. just don't beat yourself up! any weight loss is success!! hang in there! just wanted to share whats helped me don't compare yourself with others

blondebomb replied to Thinkingthinner1109's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Should or shouldn't. Is it worth it?
blondebomb replied to tattooedmum72's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had GERD for many yrs. It was both my internist that recommended the sleeve and my surgeon.. its a 50/50 chance of going either way. alot of his patients had improved some stayed the same. he kept me on nexium from day one I was on IV and he started immediatly after 4 months it calmed down and I have been off of nexium since. I get a little here and there but I have also noticed it depends on what I eat and how LATE in the evening I stop eating if I do feel a little uneasy I just pop a rolaids. I also use liquid cinnamon and I didnt even realize it till lately that helps in digestion and relieves heartburn and GERD symptoms. hope this helps.. -

Are you following a Paleo Diet?
blondebomb replied to My Bariatric Life's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had only 1 app with the NUT preop..and what she teaches i totally disagreed with..i let her do her spill then i mentioned to her what my plan was bc i had already made these changes a yr earlier and this was what i chose to do she got on the same page with me as far as portion size and sugar content grms per serving to do..but its mine boggling how the FDA is still teaching in what i personally feel is doing more harm then good to ppl..its sad. I do a mix of paleo and ketogenic ..the ff/sf diet and low fat is what got i followed the past 30 yrs..got fatter and fatter..its been organic grassfed for me raw organic sugar or stevia im 90% off dairy i do use heavy whipping cream for my coffee in morning but thats it. Unsweetned almond milk .i eat raw pecans daily . but its working for me. To each there own. Im 8 months out and have yet to see that NUT again..doubt i will either. I see surgeon in may for my 10 Month po..i eat as fresh as possible..luv salmon..wild caught..i say do what works for you personally but its what we do..???? -

blondebomb replied to Janex43's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Haha..its still not public knowledge nor dies my family no..???? -

For me the first month was brutal. Mentally and emotionally. I would have outburst of crying spells. I had my bitchy moods. My 3rd wk i said to myself what the hell have i done? I had to have a serious self talk..i wanted FOOD! But i had to remind myself my brain was having major withdrawals i was a self comfort eater..i had to buckle down and get my mind on other things. Cry if you need to. Your body is going through major change. I understand about the depression..I've suffered over 25 yrs of some different forms of this. Hang in there! Hormones are haywire! After my 4th wk it was gone. I felt totally different. I seen by the end of wk 1 after i lost 25 pds i knew i made the right choice for me it worked..so i knew my mind and emotions were screaming..im 8 months out over 100 down..its soo worth it. Hang in there! ☺

I'm done going through this procedure
blondebomb replied to humblestar25's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It works if a person follow the surgeon's requirements and i only wish to goodness i did this 15 or so yrs ago! What a waste of "my life" in denial that i could do this on my own! Heck no..i went from 180 to almost 280 i was miserable. I had 2 drs give me a reality chk ...with this tool and sticking to my protocol i think 100 plus pds down no diabetes, hr is normal, food doesn't control me no more but this has put me in the drivers seat . yrs of therapy i made dietary changes a few yrs before surgery and i was determined to make this change to get healthy an give me my life back..i am 30 pds from goal and i feel my life at 51 is just starting. Its not for the weak at heart for sure it is a lifestyle change and commitment its hard! But i would do it again and again..with the sleeve my cravings for wrong choices are gone. Am i perfect do i still have grumbling noises in tummy ..not perfect yes my tummy growls. I don't care. Im in a much better place today then i have been in 27 yrs. I'm doing the happy dance!! Yes im proud of myself and this is tge hardest thing I've ever done and that includes goung thru a bad divorce 16 yrs ago..the benefits definitely outweigh the risk..yes i have a big smile on my face.,best wishes..i just wanted to share my journey and experience. Some insurance require a 6 minths supervised dr diet..some dont. I was 3 minths start to surgery and no preop requirements other then medical releases from my psych, internist and thyroid dr..wish all the best with their decisions..???? -
HELP! I am desperately needing support!
blondebomb replied to kimmeesue's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I grew up with the ole saying (plz no one get offended!!!) i would cut my crust off bread and it was "do you no theres starving children in the world who would give anything to have that"..and "your not leaving this table till your plates cleaned up"..we were fed with this and fed with that. I didn't have a weight issue till i got out of high school. I was 110 pds for most part till then..i grew up on a garden..it was healthy but the biscuits and gravy and the pancakes and mashed potatoes and mac and cheese all of the comfort i understand...mom made cobbler and pies so did grandma..sorry for listening these foods on a new lifestyle site but i had to reprogram my thinking and foods are so processed the past 20 plus yrs really takes a toll and I've had to relearn what the wrong choices were and replace..i was a carb sugar addict..but i learned i could still have treats but with different ingredients but i also learned fir me the foods that got me where i was so for me its something I've worked hard on the past 2 yrs and now its second nature. It will get easier take day to day. I've learned to appreciate my tummy and learned to love myself again and it has made a difference..you'll see..,i did turn to help over the yrs and learned how to stop being a slave to my emotions. Iv been thru a divorce personally and it took its toll on me. Thats in my past ..move foreword! This is a great support site..its helped me alot learned alot and i try to pay it forward with my journey and experience..????
