Reversal for gastric sleeve?
blondebomb replied to Gladys62's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
it gets better..hang in there. Anything especially that requires surgical help there is always the possibility of complications. In your situation I feel your situation is from a surgeon not giving you or even going the extra step to try and prevent your symptom from the tummy acid being helped. Thats just my thoughts I could b wrong but your getting help and that's what counts! I have a small tummy and frankly I am so glad it takes very little for me to fill. I dont rely on food as a crutch emotionally anymore and its been in my favor. I take my liquid 3 suppliment and my biotin and folic acid and everything is perfect. You'll get there sweetie! Let us no !! Xx -
Reversal for gastric sleeve?
blondebomb replied to Gladys62's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am sooo happy for you!!! I read this thread and I felt so bad for you. I am 10 months PO my first month was brutal! my surgeon warned me it would be. he said if you can get thru the first month you'll do good. it wasn't perfect by far easy brezzy? heck no!! I had my crying spells my bitchy spells I had hernia repair also and the esophagus spasms were awful. those last almost 3 wks. I could barely sip water myself. my first month I did good to get 1 can of my shake. I tried soo many different protein types either powder or drinks finally the pure protein shakes worked for me and so did the nectar brand helped also. for my my shakes counted toward my fluid intake so that was good. my first month believe me I had my doubts as well..I was second guessing myself what the heck have I done????? I knew deep inside though I really wanted this and I talked myself through it. I was struggling with the head hunger/craving thing also. learned about it during our preop psych classes. I also have GERD have had it for eons of yrs. thankfully I had a great surgeon he did start me on protonix IV from the gecco. I was having to sip water as well all day long my first wk I had dropped 20 some pds. it was at 4 months PO I was still only getting about 2 maybe 3 bites in at 1 setting. I didn't get my energy and feeling better till 6 months. my internist also said the healing of the tummy takes a good 6 months to heal and it takes all the energy we have for healing. I understand your frustration and anger. I hate it that you had a jack*** for a surgeon that only cared about his wallet and not you. I would have to complain to the board myself. that behaviour is not acceptable. there are many many great surgeons and caring dr's out there and I just read that you have a caring dr that is working with you now to get you the help you need. I was so glad to read that! I hope you really don't think this procedure to help you reclaim a healthy life back and prevent further health problems down the road was stupid move bc I really think once you get back to where you can get feeling better and get your nutrition where it needs to be I really think you will bounce back better then you expect..at least I'm hoping that for you!! my first 6 months was a struggle. this is the hardest thing I ever went through and I went through a ugly divorce after 20 yrs of a first marriage myself. but I am 10 months PO now and over 100 pds down I know you think its the devil now but just wait and you'll see even though it was extremely difficult for me as crazy as it sounds on my end I would do it again in a heart beat my benefits have outweighed everything I endured. it sounds like your on the fastrack on recovery with a new caring dr's you'll get fixed up and on the mend and 6 months from now this will be a distant memory and you will be strutting around with your head held high! hang in there!! keep us posted..I'll be looking for your updates dear! don't pressure yourself...do the best you can -
I can't answer this specific question but Im sure you'll get help. I was wondering how this worked myself. I would have thought that your surgeon would have a list of other dr's available in your area so he could have one already set up for after care. best wishes..

y'all have done an awsome job and beautiful ladies! it's so weird to me also. I always new there was a skinny me dying to bust out of this fat suit! I'm finally finding her..I had several comments this morning and they are very nice compliments and whispering to me to keep it up looking awsome and to ignore the neg comments if someone tells me I'm looking to thin..lol..I guess after losing 100 plus pds does make a dramatic difference. I'm about 30 pds to goal which I am beyond estatic now!

if I may add something here..I seen your from the UK..I hate to ask this but I was just wondering and I don't mean to ask a stupid question but did you get a dietary plan from your surgeon? the reason why I am asking and plz don't take this the wrong way I am just trying to maybe suggest a few things..you hadn't had surgery that long ago and I am really surprised you can even get in 1000 cal a day did I read this right? and able to eat rice, pasta etc? I don't like to compare our diet outlines but it only makes sense to what to avoid for weight loss..I was doing good to hit 400 to 500 cal day for first 6 to 7 months I know we are all different just sharing it might be that cutting back on the calories and try and do your protein first before anything and then a non starchy veggie if you have room. I only get about 5 or 6 bites in now at 10 months out and I drink all day long except for the 30 min before a main meal and 30 min after. can I ask what your program for protein amount is for the day and water requirement? I find for me the more protein I get which my guideline is min 60 and fluid is min 64oz it keeps my body burning consistantly. maybe this will help ya. we are going to make mistakes along the way adjustments made I love this site it has really helped me as well. I hope it helps you as well dear! following this It's helped me lose 10 pds a month. keep us posted... -
depends on your insurance or your employer. I would ask both . others can probably give you some good advice other then me..
-
I seen online what mine billed the insurance but being under contract they accept what the insurance paid as paid in full and did not bill me for anything else. and actually the surgeon that accompanied him also submitted the same amount and Ins paid him the same amount and still accepted as paid in full. maybe someone else has had a differant experience.

normally its a 1 night stay or OB(23 hrs) if there's not anything going on I had hernia repair and had spasms so I stayed another night per my request for IV fluids another day. I asked my surgeon a few months earlier if its a 3 day stay and he said OH no its just over night unless I need another night. you just never know till after you wake up and get going and if you get drink and etc...

going to jump in here! I had the sleeve done 10 months ago. I had 2 of my specialist one being my internist I have over 12 dx's been sick for so long these 2 sent me for the sleeve since no rerouting of organs when I got to my surgeon he asked me what I wanted and he agreed with me that with the medications I take the sleeve would be great. no dumping here, no mal-absorption blood work is awesome I am down over 100 pds no hair loss. my highest weight was 272 since I wasn't over 300 it was ideal for me. I have had 2 friends who had the bypass 1 didn't reach her goal and in fact put it all back on the other one made her goal she's alot older then me and has gained back some but yet stable. I don't know your health issues but my bp is normal, no insulin issues my only complaint or regret is that I didn't have this yrs ago to get my health under control! the sleeve is the procedure that is running in the forefront . I didn't want my organs moved or rearranged. and its the best decision I ever made. but its each persons decision. do your homework. I would go with the dr you trust more. and for me that was my surgeon. mine had been doing these ever since they began and his success rate is up top. I trusted his opinion of what he thought would be best for me and all my health issues and of course he being the expert and I have several autoimmune diseases and I have never been happier! best wishes in your decision and keep us posted as to what you decide..

Unexpected surprise expenses
blondebomb replied to KC VSG's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was able to use my own suppliments from the beginning. and actually since surgery we have saved more money since I wasnt hardly eating solids for several months and what I did eat wasn't much. I drank the pure protein drinks. yes off the bat I did try a few different types of protein powder's till I settled but what I had extra I put in the hubs smoothies. I didn't buy anything off the bariatric website. I did buy the big container of unflavored you bought and I used it for a few wks and I added it to all the soups I ate I added it in my coffee my hot tea yogurt pudding if it could be added to something I did. but what I have had out of pocket the past 10 months did/t compare to what we were spending eating out all the time. I have heard some surgeons require buying their brand of suppliments , bars and shakes mine didn't. the month before my surgery I stocked and believe me I over bought! I didn't have to buy shakes and soups for a while...its worth it! -
Getting sleeved this tuesday and scared I will never be able to eat again

I remember going through those emotions. mostly excited..I luv the fact it doesn't hardly take much at all to feel satisfied. I worried myself so much the 2 wks before and to the day yet at the same time I could NOT wait for my life to start! now I'm 10 months PO even though my first month was rough not physically but mentally and a few emotional dips but I fought thru it and I swear I would do it again in a heartbeat! follow your plan! stick to it.trust the plan. eat your protein first. you will be eating "good" healthy foods again...it will take some time be patient. everyone tolerates different foods at different stages. best wishes and keep us posted -

Scared and unsure
blondebomb replied to Roxie Malone's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OOOHHH don't get me started! I am so sorry you are dealing with this. IT's YOUR health and YOUR life. I tried for over 30 yrs to get STABLE weight and keep it off. for me in my situation I had several health issues that worked against me I am 51 and when 2 specialist referred me to surgeon for sleeve and when I was told by my endocrinologist that I needed the sleeve to reverse a few diseases or prevent from getting any bigger (I had gained 30 some pds in a matter of short time)I had hit at my highest almost 275 so I was headed to the 300 plus I said absolutely wasn't going to happen! I had to do something. you say your healthy now it is just a matter of time. I started falling apart in my mid 20's. when I went to the psychological preop classes this was 1 of the subject's talked about...I am 10 PO and over 100 pds down and even it was the hardest thing for me to go through it was mostly mental and emotionally but after my first month was over it was all good!! physically I did great. Best thing I ever did for me! these ppl don't live in your body and carry this extra weight so they are irrelevant! hang in there! it's none of their business and you don't owe anyone a explanation. when others approach me still I tell them I do a very strict diet and what I have dropped in my diet and I do a very strict portion control. In time I'll mention it maybe only if directly asked but it's my business. Keep us posted . the benefits definitely out weigh the risk! -
Iv had GERD for many yrs before I also had hernia repair at the same time I had been on nexium for along time my internist sent me to have the sleeve done it was a 50/50 chance on helping the GERD some do improve some don't. I remained on nexium for 5 months PO and have been off nexium now for months. I get some but I pop a rolaids and it goes away. I do take liquid cinnamon bark herb daily and it helps so much and I initially took the cinnamon as an inflammatory and also learned it helps with GERD and sure enough for me it has. just sharing everyones differant. It's one of them things we each have to do what works for each person. I am 10 months PO now and feel best I have in over 30 yrs!

My husband is not attracted to me - 2 weeks post-op
blondebomb replied to marbelvsg's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
just came across this post and i have to say i highly disagree..not all men are shallow. Theres alot of men in my family and friends i have never come across this issue. Your experience with men or a man whatever it was or is I'm sorry you had this. Please don't generalize men as this is what men want. Granted there is some but not all. In fact i have talked about similar issues like this with my hubs and he can't understand why some would think this way. Over and out..???? -
Annoying little rant
blondebomb replied to Okinawa girl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
hang in there! yea it's the sequence of the process..all physical's has to be passed first to get added to the last few classes or it's just a waste of your time and a big let down. I know where I had mine done they do classes several times a month. it'll go fast. I would just focus on getting other things done. getting through all the dr app's takes the longest. it can be annoying when we have made a life changing decision and it feels like it takes forever to get there! -
........Y'all!!! lol..I'm lol over here!
