Are stalls real or do we just make excuses ?
blondebomb replied to AussieSam's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I did not read all the comments but I am here as living proof with over a dozen health dx's I was one of the "complicated" one's that stumped the medical field. ppl can believe on the stack of physic's bibles all they want I kept gaining and gaining till I met with my new endocrinologist after she read my chart and medical history and after seeing her for 6 months and she seen what was going on with her own eyes between gaining almost 35 pds in a short first few months of being her pt, this theory of calories consumed verses burn was tossed out the window. I was down to eating no more then 500 calories daily, the media pushing the ff/sf items all these decades , and it takes calories to burn to breath, run your organs, sleep, walk etc...not to mention your activities during the day and sleeping..I was putting on weight every time I went back. including insulin resistant, 1 side thyroid dead from being destroyed the other side enlarged and put on thyroid med for 3 months prior to her sending me to WLS that I was prime candidate for this surgery. I know that medical issues play a role in some obesity related individual. I ballooned from 210 to almost 275 within a yr. and yes stalls do happen. my first stall was the 3 wk..it last a few wks. then I hit one about 8 months and fluctuate up and down 2 to 3 pds was out of ketosis then BAM I started again losing last wk all of a sudden dropped 4. been ketosis ever since. the inches are coming off I dropped again I was stuck in the XL to L for a few months and now in M/L..just wanted to share my experience I have lived on the medical issues of weight hanging on for dear life and increasing despite changing lifestyle diet I did 2 yrs ago and remain on today except I eat full fat .it has never bothered my tummy.. -
What rule(s) do you let yourself break?
blondebomb replied to LeeBee17's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm going on 11 months out in another wk or so..I started using a straw I avoided it till a few months ago. I know it sounds crazy but I easily blow thru it first a little then inhale to me (maybe I am just rationalizing to myself or what have ya) but it works. I get more fluids in using it. and yes I do drink my caffeine coffee in the morning ...2 cups. I am not human till I get it..lol..I drink decaf the rest. and due to enlarged goiter behind thyroid (knot in my throat) and sjograns dryness in mouth and slower muscle movement in my esophagus I sip some during meals. I drink all day long but yes I drink a little before during and after its just not much I have to to get it down. no carbonation! I never will. that's my confessions!! -
Pro's & Con's of gastric sleeve surgery?
blondebomb replied to Wantingtobeslimmer's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had gerd for yrs prior..still took nexium for about 5 months after been off since I use alternative remedies for this and doing fine but I also eat a clean diet, no carbs I eat mostly protein and use raw sugar if anything along with stevia..it has worked for me..we eat organic as much as possible. I do take liquid supplements where their available..suppliment will be required or at least till you get po and able to eat balanced. I also only use coconut oil and olive oil and my insides Iv not had issues. I eat raw pecans and cashews (not till I was free to expand diet) daily and it has fixed the IBS/constipation issue which I had the past 30 yrs but used Seneca and Miralax in shakes or water for first 3 to 4 months. I luv my tool the sleeve..no rerouting just body does have to get used to some changes I would do it in a heartbeat best thing I ever did for myself and health! My body thanks me! Lol -

Emotional up and down..fighting head hunger, tummy growled all the time..I had esophagus spasms for 2 wks..but the weight fel off..after 4 wks it all stopped that is the spasms and the crying spells...all good now..????

I try daily with a positive attitude but my depression is not under control due to not being able to take my medication properly so having to start a new one but I am trying to be positive! I'm sorry your in between meds. I no what that does its no picnic. I started out as post partum 26 yrs ago have struggled since. The past few yrs mine finally leveled out I started applying pure spray magnesium stopped the pill form and doing much better along with my med. I did stop and drastic change in my diet 2 yrs ago it helped. Hang in there. I don't care what ppl think you can be the most positive person but depression can suck the living life out of ya. I hope you find something to help you get through it..xx

Normal Consumption...?
blondebomb replied to jm726's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't think OP eating an egg is a big deal. Different doctors progress their patients to real food at different rates. I had my first egg at 3 weeks post op. because my doctors protocol was 2 weeks full liquids, 2 weeks purees, 2 weeks soft food, then everything as tolerated. My hope is that OP find a way to communicate with her medical team. I didn't mean that it wasn't on my plan I just literally couldn't take in but only a bite or 2..sorry for the confusion my bad..it was the heaviness my tummy wouldn't handle..some can tolerate it I like eggs I eat them all the time now.. -

Please Don't Tell me your Horror Story
blondebomb replied to Stephanie Salsera Perrott's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
No complications here. No nausea, No vomiting ever, hungry sensations never went away still the same , had gerd for many yrs before and had it till about several months ago. I followed my surgeon protocol still do. It took me 4 months to get my strength back. And a good 4 months to get more then 4 bites in . swelling in tummy can take 6 months to go down. My internist said it takes 6 months for tummy to heal properly it's major surgery. No hair loss here. Wasn't problem here. It did take me a good few wks to get all my protein in. I had already made dietary changes for me a few yrs before hand so no problem there. I am 10 months po over 100 pds down. Been in a stall the past month..no worry. I stopped my nexium few months back and doing great. I pop a rolaids a few times other then that I take liquid biotin,b12, folic acid, my armour thyroid, liquid d3 and bw has been great. I see my surgeon the end of this month for chk in. Best thing I ever done! Not going to lie first month is brutal! It was for me. Went thru the normal stage of withdrawals. Crying spells bitchiness..my surgeon warned me but said if I can make it thru first month you have it made. He was right for me. Despite the feelings of what the heck have I done during that month and working thru the emotional part at 4 wks it all disappeared! I'd do it again! Benefits are huge! I'm the best Iv been since my 20s! I'm 52 this yr! ???? -
I don't see a new posting I hope all is going good. Touch base when you can. Welcome to the loser side!

How do you guys feel about chicken tenders?
blondebomb replied to Dreamagain's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get grilled where I go and where I go I usually already no what I can get. I don't do breaded or fried. If it's a Wendy's Iv done chili, grilled chicken breast no bun etc.. we go to ruby's I get the grilled salmon or I'll get the plain turkey burger again no bun no lettuce(my choice ) and get grilled zuchinni or grilled green beans..???? -
Single yogurts, strong cheese, raw pecans, cashews, I keep some organic turkey and roll up with some cream cheese, I found the turkey jerky low sodium, cottage cheese, I can pretty much live on these items!

Pre op weight goal met but will I still get denied?
blondebomb replied to likelike's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'll share what happened to me..my psych added a comment at bottom of my release paper and just made a note that I "seemed" a little down at last visit which was 2 months before my surgery..so when the nurse called me and said that she told me IF she was to submit that release like that it would no doubt be denied do as soon as I hung up from her I immediately called and got a appointment to go in and talk to her and she did redo the release and I see her every 2 to 3 months still. The psych visits to me are extremely important on this changing behaviour..just sharing . keep us posted..its normal going up and down with stressors..hope things work out! -
this "mind game" of not seeing ourself or the way we do or have seen ourselves it real. It has been covered well on this topic. This was well talked about in my preop classes. and I am so glad it was part of the criteria. Bc now I have been going thru this for 4 months myself. I even had a post on this months ago. I tried to prepare myself for this stage and when it hit it hit hard. Fortunatly I do see a professional and she helped me alot and said it would take time and if it does take a while for our mind's image to catch up with our new reality. that was several months ago and she was right. I had been uncomfortable yet happy and yet a little frightened of what I was seeing. I was feeling exposed. vulnerable. and she mentioned we should give myself some time to adjust and I also MADE myself take pics! YES PICS! and I MADE myself start making changes with my internal dialog I had to squish the negative self talk and pat myself on my back for the great job I have done and I am not done yet. my confidence is back with vengence! lol...I am walking taller. But on the other hand I still feel some vulnerability. Im working through it. day by day. I am shopping all the time. I have girlfriends we shop and I am loving it! a little apprehensive? sure! TAKE YOUR PICTURES! LUV yourself! I have decided that just by taking my pic bc I hadn't taken any for yrs . I was one of those that was in denial myself. when I looked in the mirror I didn't see the "fat" girl. I knew I was heavy but I didn't see what others seen. then reality finally sank in . I don't "abuse or self destruct" no more. I am learning to take care of myself. I have been off this site for a while had to fly out of state for a wk or so I am glad I seen this! I luv chico brand clothes and coldwater creek..I have found alot of things at our nice consignment shops I never buy or pay full price..but I luv their styles. I also like tjmaxx, Marshall's. HAVE FUN! and Im going to say it again..TAKE SOME PICS!!! xx
