Were you weighed the day of your surgery?
blondebomb replied to Debbie Jean's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
not at the hospital. I use my start weight from the first day I met my surgeon in his office. I didnt have to do no major diet I just had to drink 2 shakes a day o meal a day for 2 wks then the last 24 hrs before it was 3 shakes a day. I lost 11 pds on the 3 days before surgery. I weighed myself at home the morning of. -

Random Questions!
blondebomb replied to fab_not_fat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was caffeine free till a few months ago. I started in with the half an half. I couldnt function without SOME. for the first 3 or 4 months no . I do drink decaf ice tea an decaf hot teas at night. I use liquid stevia. fruit? I only eat green grapes so far. I watch even natural sugars. keep those down. I think I have had some fresh frozen blueberry/strawberry a couple a few times that was it. I was off the straw habit. the past few months I have slipped back into using one here an there not always..I do girgle more in tummy when I use it so I am getting off of that. absolutly no carbonation. no gum yet. juicing? no I dont. I dont eat lettuce anymore. I pretty much only eat cooked broccoli sometimes. I have thyroid hashis so I dont do the green smoothys nor fruit smoothies..to much sugar an carbs. I keep my carbs under 40. I am 6 months out an almost 100 pds down. hope this helped... -
Lupus Diagnosis & Symptoms Prior to Surgery - Can I Proceed?
blondebomb replied to got2get's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
girl listen!! I have over 12 dx! to name a few..SLE, Polymyalgia, Fibro and Hashis...I told my thumey I was having this done to get my life back. I wasnt out for her approval. I had 2 of specialist refer me to WLS. I have stage 2 an 3 kidney disease. I had to go on armour thyroid in order for my thyroid to be "within" normal range to get released from my endo but I made it! I have a specialists for every organ I have left. I wasnt out to get approval from drs..I did this for me. bc NO dr can tell you how its going to be after everyone reacts differant. but I had ballooned up to 270 or so . I was miserable. yes in pain before an after still. my surgeons words to me was he has had some fibro pts who improved the pain. some pts GERD inproved. some do an some dont. I was going to do the surgery no matter. I was either going to kill over fat an miserable or what have ya. my surgeon told me the surgery was worth the risk. it gets soo much easier with the weight dropping. the first month was brutal...not from pain but from the tummy just being so swollen inside so getting drink an food down was a chore. but I also had hernia fixed. after the first wk an I went into get weighed an stepped on the scale I had lost 25 pds. I knew then it was going to work. for the first month I was pain free! then the flair hit me like a brick wall. yea...I tuffed thru it a few months..upped my plaquinil. had a medrol pack I took. got thru it after I had to get some relief. it was several months flaring but I had already made a radical diet change a few yrs ago got off all processed sugar, grains etc...even with them changes alone the weight kept going up. so yea I am thrilled I went thru my desision of the sleeve. I am 6 months out an almost 100 pds down. it is well worth it. I flaired being fat which felt just as bad if not worse bc of the excess weight an of course mentally an emotionally..I flair now. I would so much rather be thinner an have a somewhat better active life then the way I was on that self destructive path. I am better mentally getting my confidance back an emotionally better. but I have been ordering essential oils from the mountain rose herbs...organic..sn I rub that on my muscles which is alot of areas...but I prefer them to prednisone. I drink hot tea at night either ginger, peppermint or licorice an I ordered organic liquid D3, liquid B12 an I take wkly B12 injections myself..turmeric. I have muscle issues in my esophagas so I try an take liquid suppliments as much as I can. getting difficult to swallow things. but I manage. I have not taken narcotics for pain. I didnt want to start that path but the oils are helping. I do have a script topical lotion that I can use an I use my TENS machine for my neck back an shoulders. if this is something YOU want an YOU only dont let others talk you out of it. they dont live in your body. I didnt tell anyone in my family except my hubs that I was doing this. I didnt want to listen to everyones opinions. this is tuff going thru it enuff without all that negativity. thats just me. they still dont no. I told my BFF an thats it. an with 90 some pd weight loss yea Iv been turning heads! lol...I dont care! I just say I am on a strict portion control plan ..eat high protein off such an such basically Ketogenic diet. an the right amount of thyroid med. feels great!! I wish you the best. I hope this helps. but I would not change it for a million bucks!! you can contact me further whenever you need to! from one lupie to another.. -

BCBS AL (PEEHIP) - out of pocket expenses?
blondebomb replied to darby0375's topic in Insurance & Financing
who is your ins thru? I have BC/BS an before I even had my first visit I had to preapproved for bariatric period. was you pre apporoved? an then did you see the surgeon? bc everything that you go thru ..your testing..etc..your ins should be covering bc certain Ins carriers require certain tests. an if your preapproved for bariatric it should be covered. I would call your ins co an ask questions of what they are covering an if not 100% I would want to know what I am expecting to pay out of pocket. I was pre approved an after having all done ..2 months later I started getting some bills. an mine was 100% covered. I had to call Ins an tell them they needed to resubmit all the accounts I was getting which I had 4 bills I recieved. but after telling them that I went ahead with this not only bc of several drs recommending this BUT that also ins aproved it from the beginning! you shouldnt have to pay for anything UNLESS you have a deductible that has to met first. I hope you get this straightened out before hand. every dr is differant. I didnt have to do a sleep study for the surgery but I did have a sleep study a yr an half before...hope you get some answers.. -
Why different post op diet requirements?
blondebomb replied to Annie77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
48 hrs preop I had 2 shakes a day an 1 balamced meal..24 hr of surgery 3 shakes. while in surgery he did the leak test the next morning I was on soft fiet then when I went home it changed it again..needless to say I stayed on fluids..did it for 3 wks..tummy was to sensitive. so far so good. I still only can get down 4 or 5 bites at a time..I literally eat a lil all day its worked for me. its crazy how all drs have their own protocol an experiance over the yrs what they each has seen work for their pts an what doesnt. -
I keep mine below 40 a day! the only carbs I get is thru the Protein bar I eat if I eat it instead of real meal. I do all sf! I just discovered the Quest brand chips...there only 5 carbs a bag an 20-25 grms protein depending on which flavor you eat. its my new snack grab! its also normal for the loss to slow down . do you do the MFP on your phone an log everything? I didnt read anyones response so Im not sure of others. it could be other things besides carbs that slow down. how ya doing on Water? it could also nust be a stall...I have been thru several myself. but when I up my protein it starts working again..

CONGRATS!!!!!! your ALMOST THERE!!!from my last surgeons visit at date scheduling I had 1 wk! I went thru an had all the emotions. its normal. hang in there! my first month was really hard. bc your body is going thru a massive shock! like "WHAT THE HE:: HAPPENED"! lol...I had to go thru all the classes there were 3 pre surgery classes an be released from a few drs...but the classes were soooo helpfull! it helped prepare us for what not to do how long not to do an what to expect..mentally, emotionally and physically. I stayed in hopsital 2 days..it was only supposed to be 1..but I couldnt sip on water so I said keep me another night hooked up..I didnt want to get dehydrated. if you find yourself in this situation speak up to your dr..Im glad I did..after surgery I woke up about 4 hrs later..got out of bed and tried to walk. it was actually the next morning about 5 when I got up an started walking. the hubs stayed with me which helped so much. then I walked every hr...I had esophagas spasms with every sip thats why I couldnt swallow...not everyone gets them.O had a hernia repaired..not all do. but I was ready to go home the evening of the second night. it was along month...but..after the first few days the chest pains gas pains started slowing down some..dont freak out if you gain after surgery!!! just the 2 days I was in there I gained 10 pds. it was fluid! it WILL come off fast. by the 7th day an my fist post op visit I dropped an unbelievable amount! then it was history...do as much as you possibly can to meet your requirments..(its doesnt happen)! it takes time to work up! I got to where I bought protien flavored shots it was easier to get the 60 grms in...its an all day job to get thru the first month..thats my experiance. others Iv heard breezed thru it! you hopfully will be one to breeze thru! just sharing a few things you might experiance. DON"T worry!! your body will do its job! I am soon to be 6 months postop an about to hit the 100 mark!! keep us posted!! its the best thing an I would def go thru it all over again! soooooo worth it!

Feeling a little discouraged
blondebomb replied to living55's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
DONT COMPARE!! you will drive yourself nuts! and YAYYY to what already has suceeded in losing! my first month I had in the back of my mind I had done every diet known in the universe. what makes this any differant? its a learned thinking pattern as obese ppl in general tell themselves...IT WORKS IF you do what your dr has outlined. it doesnt matter if its a stall which means the body is catching up an knows there has been a major change! or its ahalf a pd a wk or 3 pds a wk! its still a loss! hang in there...plz dont second guess yourself. (although its normal) but it can drive yourself crazy an can be depressing. dont worry about everyone else. we all lose differantly. get your Protein in as much as possible, drink an move. move even if your limited. I am limited but what I have done my body is adjusting the way it should. keep us posted.. I forgot to mention I hit that stall at 3 wks an was stuck in it for almost 3 wks..dont fret. -
checking in on ya see how your doing? welcome to the other side an to a new life! post when ya can

Divorce after plastic surgery and/or bariatric surgery
blondebomb replied to My Bariatric Life's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
exactly..my hubs has been my biggest supportor for 15 yrs now. we both were previously married to ppl for 20 yrs an they cared less about us. werent appreciated. but this man of mine I hear ya when you say yours is the best...I have one also. yesterday he grabbed my arm as I was walking by the sofa an said come here..very sweetly..an I said what? I sat on his lap and he keeps reassuring me how beautiful I am. I said you know..you have seen me at my worst! I ballooned up to almost 275 or so (health diseases) hashis is relentless...but he said he would support me in whatever decision I made concerning the WLS or not. I did it..he said he was soo proud of me an that it took guts an courage to go thru this! he said a persons beauty starts on the inside. he has told me this all these yrs. we are best friends. when we got married I was around 180 or so got up in weight an now back down so its almost a 100 pd weight loss. he cant keep his hands off me! lol...bless his heart! I luv this man to the moon an back. he wants to take care of me an does with his whole being. we take our relationship seriously. we are committed to make it work. we are in our 50s now. an loving it. I have already been thru the 10 yrs of talk therapy. we have been thru the highs an lows..there will always be highs an lows. I did this WLS for ME. MY health an I knew it would only enhance us...he did say he was going to have to be my body guard..haha..luv this man!! we grocery shop together 95% of the time so we do great on what choices we together make an bring in the house... ..my therapy was to get to the bottom of my past relationship an yrs thru it...it helped soo much!! then I knew I could move on an not turn to food. I guess I am one of the "lucky" ones as well...my hubby is the sweetest man alive! He is always there for me...we were together when I was 350 pounds and he never felt me feel "less" than beautiful...tho I regularly tell him to get his eyes checked!!! As seen by our wedding picture on my home page where I was just after surgery and down 50 pounds... we were together for 8 years before we got married...and I really didn't care if we did or didn't...he wanted it more. ...at our age, I didn't really care anymore. He is always taking care of me in more ways that there are letters in the alphabet...he is supportive and loving ... so I do believe it is all about who you are on the inside... if you are in a good, healthy relationship, you can weather any storm, including bariatrics! 100 lbs down and the unfortunate random things I've learned plus a few NSVs!
blondebomb replied to KeeWee's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I tell ya this past wknd I seen friends that I hadnt seen oh in about a month or so..I am pushing mid 90 something loss an let me tell ya I GOT THE STARES!! I felt like every eye was on me. I tried my best to ignore it. wasnt easy. a close friend of the family came over to me an said YOU NEED TO SLOW DOWN! your losing too much weight! I just kinda grind an said well my body is finally doing what its supposed to..got my thyroid med where it needs to be. I said I just made radical lifestyle change like my mom an sister did an its finally coming off. I said Im not slowing down! if it comes off it comes off. it took everything I had to hold my toungue! its not that they are haters here but they were shocked of seeing a almost 100 pd weight differance. I have always yoyo'd for 25 yrs. I guess I dont see that HUGE of a differance but eveidently it is a HUGE differnace..lol..one of my gf's I told her I whispered to her an said its already started! about me losing to much weight(an I still have another 40 or so to go) she said a person cant never lose to much weight! yea she is a very committed ww person. accountable for every pound. I cant imagine the looks I'll get as the wks go on!
