  1. Yes and yes!!!!! I spent 30yrs yo yo with weight. Being delusional of thimking i could still do this on my own. After 2 of my drs sent me to have this done i jumped on it. It was my time to get control an this was the tool i needed- yes first month for me was tuff..my surgeon told me if i can get thru first month I'll be fine for me it was a long month of relearning proper portion for my baby tummy but i did it an i was sick n tired of being fat depressed an using food as comfort. Id already been thru 10yrs of therapy, was finally dx with hashis on armour got my thyroid back in optimal range an i dont mean the regular guidlines i mean optimal guidelines i am 7 months post an hit 100 pds!! Yes i would do it in a heart beat..whats changed?? I have control over my life, my self esteem back stronger then ever an food does not control me! Luvn life again for the first time in over 35 yrs!! Being fat an accepting this was just the way it was meant to be for me absolutely not. I wish u the best.

Failed lap band to gastric sleeve..?

it will be a new journey an not perfect. its still a learning experiance but at 270 pds as my HW I was disgusted an mad at myself. until I was approached by 2 of my drs at 2 differant appointments that suggested the sleeve I was prime canidate with all my health issues I did my research and the benefits outweighed the risk! before I knew it I had an approval an date! I got on the right thyroid med an away we went. I REFUSED to live another day fat an miserable an the victim. (bad previous 20 yr marriage divorced) remarried now for 15 yrs getting healthier an I couldnt be happier!! some days I struggle when old thinking creeps in but I try to immediatly dismiss it. I went thru 10 yrs therapy an it was needed an it gave me my life back (therapy an sleeve)...I am 6 mon postop down 101 as of today!! YOU an only YOU can make this decision. but if you already went down the road of doing the band you already was there mentally you wanted a change. the sleeve is soo much better! if you follow your protocol it will be successful. problems? with every surgery comes risk. I was willing to take that risk. being fat for 30 yrs was killing me mentally emotionally an physically. this gave me a new opportunity an I jumped on it. I only told 3 ppl..my immediate family still doesnt know. eventually I'll say something if its asked for now its s trict diet an lifestyle change. thats me. my decision. I didnt want to hear everyones elses thoughts etc...this gave me my life back! Im 51 an I feel like I made the best decision for me an my hubs is loving it also!! my biggest supporter. THIS IS THE HONEST TRUTH! had some pain the first few wks got thru it. the first month is hard. at least it was for me. especially with head hunger. your not giving the brain an body what it has depended on the feel good carbs an dopamine! so yea its up an down. but after that first month its amazing!! best wishes!!
  8. keep your chin up! you have proved them wrong! I have had fibro over 25 yrs, now finally dx with hashis, SLE an many others. I was perscribed sevella..started throwing up it messes with my insulin. cymbalta that stuff scared me after hearing all the issues of coming off it. I had a yrs script but never took it. I was lyrica..it helped but insulin issues. gained 40 pds in 3 months! I could not get it off! went off it! been there done that. BW came back with insulin resistance, thyroid was dying..hashis finally after 20 yrs I had an answer! armour thyroid went on right before surgery bc my thyroid had to be within normal to be released for surgery. it did! I no about chronic pain. I live with it daily. its getting under control better due to plaquinil but I also have turned to essential oils as topical oinments. I do use a muscle relaxer to sleep at night when I sleep better I dont hurt as bad but still in pain. I am 6 months post 95 down I still deal with polymyalgia an the other health diseases I take day at a time but I am very careful what I eat an I also do minimum exercise. I do some work around here after 15 20 min I have to sit for a while to reboot. I do this thru out the day. I understand. do what you can. enjoy the journey an dont compare yourself with others. even if you get out when weather is pretty an ealk around the yard or down the front of yourself an work your way up to longer walks use your muscles and you will feel better mentally an start to feel better physically. baby steps! hang in there! but these scripts are awful an work against the insulin an causes other issues. I hope you find something to help your pain. I did a drastic diet change 2 yrs ago..off all processed white stuff! all additives, preservatives...I did it an you can to. I got off of all modern grains. wheat, berry wheat..etc...no breads starches for me. no caffeine most of time. I do drink a cofee in the mornings or Im a bear! lol...you have to see what works for you...
  9. my surgeon never mentioned a word about any numbers! he doesnt focus on certain numbers. neither did the nurse. the nurse simply asked me if I had a number in mind I said no not really. I'll no when I get there!

    Popcorn?

Im 6 months post an still no popcorn! its a carb an being a corn product I was afraid not only ttummy working harder to digest but its in my protocol not to eat it till I reach my goal weight..then eat some slowly an see how I do with it. so I have a while to wait!
  11. keep positive thoughts! your on your way to new you! do some online shopping , chew some gum or suck on sf mint..keep your mind on other things. you'll be going thru this from now for a while. I just did it!!

    Having a hard time!

what does your surgeon say about this? might need something strong then nexium? sorry your having this issue. it would be frustrating. we all react differant an yes I have to take nexium for mine also. as far as weakness I was 5 months getting my strength back. its major surgery an it takes time to really get back to normal maybe longer. my internists told me to give it at least 6 months to heal inside an get inner strength. he was right. I am now 6 months out . the first 3 to 4 months I was still learning an getting things working right. I would go a wk between BM bc we arent eating much. did this for months also. have you added miralax to your water maybe?? hang in there..Im curious to see what surgeon said.

    BCBS of Mississippi.

dont worry...if your surgeons staff who talks to ins is well documented an have all your other health issues documented an phsyc passed an released you should be alright. I had so many dx's an my BMI was over 40.. I stayed on top of everyone. after 24 of submitting mine I called mine I also have BCBS an within 48 hrs after chart was reviewed I knew my answer (I called)...then I got my letter. as soon as I talked on phone with ins an got approval I called surgeons office an got my app to come in next day an I was put in the books! I had myself worked up! but I wanted this soo bad..best thing I ever done for myself! keep us posted!

Post Op Hunger? Driving Me Insane ...

yes its called HEAD HUNGER! its the mental part an our brain depended on the so called way of eating that it was relying on the dopamine an serotonin amounts it was getting from the overflowing amount of carbs it was addicted to! the feel good chemicals! you'll get thru it..first month is brutal! it was for me. I had a few days of breaking down crying..a few days I craved a big fat burger! pizza! yea I did...but I got thru it. its all withdrawls...did they cover this in your psych classes pre surgery? they did very lengthy in mine. my sirgeon warned me if I can get thru first 4 wks I have it made! he was right! I am now 6 months out 95 down ...congrats on what you have already done!!! my first wk was amazing also. after first wks results I knew i made the right decision an it was going to work. so glad I did!! welcome to your knew you!!! take care..

    Last minute BIG DOUBTS

did I miss the comment of whether you did this for YOU or did you cancel? beleive me I had my doubts up to the morning of. I had all the normal emotions going on. I didnt tell no family members except my hubs. I told my kids I had to have hernia repair which I did but thats as far as I would go. one of my brothers is a health paleo fanatic! exercise etc...thin as a pencil! no diseases..healthy. there was NO way I was leaking this out to family. I am 6 months out an they still have no clue. its hard enuff on us emotionally an psychologically its a huge adjustment an takes time to get thru. I hope you went thru it for you. getting this far an a date tells me you were ready! keep us posted! hang in there! its your body an others who are uneducated have no clue of the facts an how far they have come with this! they also dont live in a obese body struggling in all aspects of life...take care..
  19. I totally relate!! I share your excitment! I luv the fact the relationship with food changed. this freedom feels awsome! I only told a few close friends so believe me I am getting the stairs. I try to avoid an pretend I dont notice but its getting hard to keep that up. I didnt make public what I was doing but maybe in time for now they can just look..

    How much Protein?

yep everyones protocol is differ...our preop classes was women..60 an men 70. an not to eat over 40 per meal it cant be used. we do stay in ketosis thats how the fat burns off. I am 6 months post an I still cant reach 1000 cal a day. I can only eat 4 or 5 small portions at a meal. Im still getting less then 800 a day. some days I eat some days no appetite. crazy..the days with no appetite I end up drinking protein shots to get that in. I keep my carb count under 40..I dont eat rice, potatoes, bread, or pasta any of that anymore an no lettuce...to me its a waste to eat lettuce an no nutritional value..I eat protein first. snack on green grapes here an there. veggies the only veggies I have nibbled on is cooked brocoli an some baby carrots cooked. we'r all differant. all protcols differant.

    Help!

I stalled at 3 wks almost a month..body needs to catch up...everyon stalls at differ times. you'll be fine. I get hungry all the time myself. my feeling of being hungry never went away. I eat a lil all day long. I cant eat but about 4 or 5 small bites an then Im done. its been like that since beginning. I am 6 months out an down almost 100...dont sweat it...I still eat yogart, cottage cheese, I even do a few spoons of natural peanut butter...eat cheese. your going to have stalls. its the way the body catches up. relax... congrats on the WL..doing great!
  22. I agree with all comments! but just a few..my best friend my hubs who has believed in me since day 1 we have been married 15 yrs an he seen me at my worst. He is my biggest fan an supporter. He takes me to my app's an we have fun together. the road I was on with over 12 dx's if it hadn't been for 2 of my specialist referring me to WLS an supporting me 6 months ago I would have been bigger an not 94 pds lighter! my endocrinologist told me without this tool even with all the legit efforts the weight was not coming off. it was a blessing for me thats for sure. I dont care if I dont eat like a so called "NORMAL" person portions..thats what got me where I was..society does NOT focus on healthy protions! an its obvious. I eat to live. not live to eat. I dont allow social scenes that all they focus on is having a great time around food an drinks. But I have learned that I can still be social without having all the conversations around food! this tool an the pre education that we get before you are even qualified to have it (at least I was) the education an evaluations were alot of time an learning put in. I learned alot. I did this for me. an I am soo grateful my hubs supports me 1000% ...mentally I have changed emotionally I have changed. my self confidance is back ( although I still get dressed an undressed alone) haha...not used to this new body form yet. working on it! I was fat for so long it takes some time to adjust. (just me) but I am proud of what I have accomplished. an I couldnt have done it without my medical team supporting me an backing me up. I knew going in this there could be issues. its major! I was willing to take that chance I was not about to waste another day depressed, fat an in victim mode. 10 yrs of therapy an still do see phsycologist that helps me with the new me perspective. most of all I thank my God my creator Jah for giving me the endurance an strength to get this far in life an sustaining us an for the love me an the hubs share. (yea I got sappy) oh well!! being honest ppl! Im out of the spiraling dark hole an seeing light an enjoying it again an I am 51 an feeling like our life together is even going to better then ever now an in the new order to come ! sorry so winded got going on a roll here..lol..
  23. here too!! I don't mind it either as long as its going down!! haha...
