Can not do my surgery because my sugar is too high :(
blondebomb replied to esingso2005's topic in Rants & Raves
After me doing research on the glucose meds its ironic they have starch fillers an sugars. Which affect glucose numbers. I was wondering if you eat red meat an watch the lunchmeats. I also use a organic liguid cinammon suppliment instead of capsules bc of the filler issue. Just sharing. I still add a squirt of the liquid suppliment to my coffee every morning. It doesnt have strong fcinammon flavor its just the supplement. Keps glucose in chk..thought i would share.. -

@@roundisashape I was another one that started getting bills from the hospital a few months later an boy I got on the Ins immediatly. I had about 4 differant bills or statements an I called the Ins an then she called the hospital all 3 of us were on conferance call straightening this mess out. it took almost 4 months to get all settled between hospital an Ins...but they did. I also have BCBS most generally I dont have a problem but I had a feeling this one would be screwed up! sure enuff! -

I did not read everyones comments but for me I had already made changes in food choices a few yrs ago I also had many yrs of therapy. Im not suggesting ANYTHING here. this is what helped ME. (I dont want to start no arguments nor point fingers) Ive read too many differant topics this afternoon here an I am almost at the point of afraid to even offer any suggestions that worked for us..sorry! anyways..I had already made up my mind before I even got to the stage of seeing a surgeon. I was determined to shed this fat suit I was hiding under. after getting professional help mentally, then clearing out the pantry of most processed foods, getting on the right thyroid med an thyroid working right I knew it was my time an all fell in place. but my FIRST thing I had to do was ask myself "do I seriously want to live the rest of my life (Im 51) fat, unhealthy an eat what I love to eat an stay in denial an just exist day to day an stay angry with myself for choosing this or am I going to take the bull by the horns an STOP this behavior dead in its tracts an TAKE CONTROL bck? live a happy life an just ACCEPT the way I was? NOPE!! I needed to take drastic changes an it was now or never. I fight within myself over 12 differant disease dx's an I wasnt going to just let life pass by. 4 yrs ago when my sister shared with me what she had to do in order to get her diseases more under control an managed better (we both are lupus and fibro pts) I laughed at her an said your crazy if Im going to stop eating this an eating that!! I know what your saying Iv done it! lol...a yr or so later after we talked I did my own research an I thought there has to be something to this lifestyle change. she has been in remission for 3 or 4 yrs now an since our lifestyle choice changes I am doing much better. (again...not saying this is for everyone!) you have chosen to do this as a TOOL. I went thru soo many fears an I kept questioning my decision over an over for 2 wks pre...but I knew I wanted it more then ever. nothing worked for me the past 15 plus yrs. Id lose an gained..all over. I was questioning if the sleeve would REALLY work for ME seeing that everything else under the sun had failed. I kept saying wonder if this is for me till the day of surgery. I know them fears! it was a battle in my head. scarey as hell. my surgeon warned me the first month is the worst. he was right..for me that is. everyone is differant. my struggle for me was the first month was struggling with my body wanted carbs an everything it had been depending on all them yrs an all of a sudden it stopped! mentally I struggled. but when I had my first weigh in at the end of the first wk I was floored!! when the proof was on the scale numbers I knew then it was actually going to work as long as I made the right choices an STAY on my protocol . having that tool to use your thinking really switches. after about 3 wks or so my cravings an withdrawls were done. I took one day at a time. the longest month of my life. but I would do it all over in a heartbeat!!! I am soo glad I didnt back out. no one can make you do this. but it is a lifetime of a lifestyle change. will you goof up or cheat? sure! dont beat yourself up. but in order to be succsessful follow your plan! to the best you can! Im sure you'll get alot of advice here. I luv this site. it has helped me soo much. this is just MY input. what I did . I wish you the best . I wanted my life back in control an not be a slave to food anymore. this tool was perfect for me an me an my new tummy work together! luv it! xx

Monumental day 100lbs lost!
blondebomb replied to onthefencejenny's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
whoop whoop!!!! CONGRATS !!! beautiful before an after...great job keep it up! -
I had been lying an making excuses to myself (denial) for over 15 or so yrs..I had to get control BACK an I knew I needed professional help. carbs or sugar is all I craved bc they are feel good on what it does to the brain. this was way stronger for me to do on my own. I used food for every emotion under the sun! so I was always eating the bad stuff. I had to get to the bottom of WHY I was craving foods. it was a visious cycle. thats where I turned for help. I was at least 10 yrs I also finally found a endo who ran the appropriate BW that I wanted done an finally found out I was insulin resistant, thyroid disease (hashis) an I asked to be put on armour an she did bc if she hadnt I was going else where who would. she did. then I cleaned out the pantry! all modern grains, anything with surculose, high fructose corn syrup, malitol, splenda aspertame was the worst, everything got tossed out an is not aloud in the house. all these chemicals were making me crave more an more...but I had to make my mind up an take control back an it has been the direction of 2 of my specialists sending me to have the sleeve my stomach hormones were crazy...with all of the above put in action I am a happier person, an so far so good with switching cheap foods pumped full of processed chemicals an replaced with whole organic foods I dont each much fruit grapes I stick to an pears but with all combined doing much much better . I'll be 8 months PO the end of the wk an 100 pds down I eat a little all day an it has worked for me. but processed white sugar an these artificial sweetners were either calming me an then when I crashed Id have to have more. therapy was the best thing an bc I had been for so long all this other changes it all fell into place ....I am not a slave to food anymore. (the withdrawls were bad not going to lie)..but ya got to go thru to stop it...

Can not do my surgery because my sugar is too high :(
blondebomb replied to esingso2005's topic in Rants & Raves
Im throwing this out there..what do you drink during the day? for me an my hubs he has more of the insulin issue but we threw out the artificial sweetners (I do NOT want to start anything this is just what WE did to help his A1C)...the sweetners were keeping his insulin high...we had to start using stevia instead. are you drinking sodas? diet or regular? do you drink fruit drinks or juices? any of these can contribute. I hate to even bring this up but when he changed these in his diet an started exercising walking or riding a stationary bike it reduced fast. I hope this helps. I know for some its really naturally easy to stay high an for others diet change an some exercise helps..hang in there it'll happen. read labels! we read ALL labels an I bought him a bread that does not have high fructose corn syrup an its only like less then 6 carbs per slice. it really helps. I also make him smoothie protein drink I add chia seeds, wheat germ, plain orgain yogurt just 1 serving, I buy unsweetened almond milk no more cows milk here too much sugar, just changes in some areas to help keep the "glucose" lower . Im just sharing what has worked for him but we do drink ALOT of spring water an unsweetened tea an add stevia...hope these suggestions will help dear..keep us posted.. -

Im totally confused here... -
@@scoutmom I know this is alot of reading an prbly scary but theres alot of psychological rehab that goes on if I can put it that way..haha..my first month It was a tug of war between my heart an my brain literally! my surgeon warned me the first 4 weeks are the worst. they were for me! cant speak for everyone else but I would do this all over again in a heart beat to regain control of myself an my life back! I was prepared for this inner war with all the preop classes that are required to go thru in order to be approved I am soo thankful it had to be done. hearing the words from the platform an actually living thru it Im just happy I did it. It will be 8 months the 8th an its a distant memory now. ITS AMAZING!! best wishes! keep us posted!xx

Starting out at age 45? How common?
blondebomb replied to KS123's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was 5 months from 51...best thing for me!! I refused to live the rest of my life fat an surviving! -
@@*Lexie* I totally agree with you dear. its a process! when I started dropping an the hubs would tell me daily he sees changes an would praise me to no end I couldnt see it. now I really see it! I posted pics last wk just so it would be real to me. we are all going to be learning something about ourself daily I believe. as soon as I had my surgery my mind changed immediatly. I thought differantly an saw things differantly. for the better. this has definitly been a process an its alot to take in. learning experiance take one day at a time. last wk I had a few days that I became really overwhelmed the past few months I had been pushing "fear" of seeing this new body image I was estatic for the loss an excited the way I am looking an I have a new found self confidance but also went into a hiding mode. its really hard to explain. but that pretty much sums it up. all these emotions an yes I had shed a few tears to release I was home alone an I quit fighting it an just gave in. I felt better the next day. still wont dress an undress in front of the hubs. talked to my therapist an she said its a process an these emotions are normal. giving it a few months to sink in an see how Im feeling about it then to talk about it. she is soo helpful. hang in there! xx

!) the mind is a powerful organ BUT CAN be retrained. 2) I was a sugar addict that my brain wanted more an more until I decided to put a stop to it. I ate for any emotion 3) my first month of PO was brutal. My brain was insistant on me giving in for the dependancy of "sugar" it was my drug 4) the withdrawls were bad. It was very very hard but I was determined I wasnt going to allow myself to be a slave to food..now I eat to live an not live to eat. had to replace one addiction for another. 5) I am NOT perfect. I had to realize I would have the slip up days but I have to love myself an forgive myself an get back on the wagon. 35 yrs of yoyo dieting an emotional eating is hard to overcome. I had to make up my mind an determination to say NO. I don't know if this is what you had in mind but there will be struggles. therapy helped me termendously to put things in perspective over the yrs (Im not saying everyone needs therapy plz no one take this the wrong way by no means) it was what helped ME an I am grateful for that. I agree with @@jenn1 it will be alot of work after goal is met. a life time!

Artificial sugar vs real sugar
blondebomb replied to changes1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know everyone is differant but I use RAW organic sugar an coconut sugar an I steadily lose wkly..I do have stevia I use for our tea but I use raw sugar alot. the NUT I first saw tells her pts 10 grams of sugar or less a serving if eating something with sugar. I do eat organic snacks but I am 7 months out an 100 pds down an I havnt had a problem. this might be an area that needs to be trial an error on personal level or stick to what works best for you personally. I carry liquid stevia in my purse.. -
my surgeon said carbonation was a no no to me..didnt want to risk it harming nor stretching the pouch. that was enuff for me so I steer clear..I do luv infused water though!
