Sades I think that is what I did I ate too fast because it was over 6 1/2 hours since lunch I was late getting dinner last night. So I ate too fast, and wham is right....LOL I never want that to happen to me again.....so slow is the way to go. Live and learn though I read about these experiences before surgery here and swore it would not be me....LOL

How important is it that the pre-op diet is liquid?
Kristin1031 replied to Fanny Adams's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Dr insisted on Clear Liquids for 8 days. That is right CLEAR liquids and it was 5 days before surgery and 3 days after. It was indeed very hard at first but after the first two days it got easier. Once the stuff starts leaving your system you do not crave it is what I found. I am glad that I did it I lost 10 pounds in 5 days. It was a great way to start my life as a bandster. I also know it made the surgery easier. Everyone who is being banded should watch one of the surgeries here on this site. I watched 3 different ones before I was banded and was glad I did. It gives you a perspective on what is being done to you and why things feel as they do afterwards. It is very important to shrink the liver, and most Americans who are overweight have fatty livers. It is because the diets that we eat of red meat and fat. I hope this helps you some. -
I can't believe how well I feel compared to just a week ago......It is amazing!! Still no hunger.....I am so blessed!! I think I might be one of the lucky ones who won't need a fill right away!! I can only hope. I am terrified of getting my first fill.....because of all the stories I have heard here....LOL I am definately feeling the weight come off....I can tell and I feel so much better, just by eating healthy. How is everyone else doing that was banded on the 9th?

Well it is four weeks tomorrow and I am truly feeling like my old self for sure.....just with less fat....LOL I see the Dr on Tuesday so will update what I have lost then. I am guessing around 20 pounds. I suppose I should be thrilled with that........ and I am. I have been eating mushies now for three weeks and I am truly getting tired of them. I will begin to change my diet on Monday by adding regular food back in to my diet. I am nervous about this.....I tried to eat some mushy veggies and they got stuck......it was very uncomfortable. I know I have restriction.....I can feel it when I drink liquid it is like a funnel feeling. I can honestly say I still have no major hunger. ALthough my stomach growls like crazy when it is time to eat again. Othere than that I am sticking to the program and anxious to get back to working out. :clap2:

Brandy you are truly my inspiration......I have almost the same amount of weight to lose that your goal is. I was a size 26 tight size 26. I have lost weight since surgery, will know for sure how much on Tuesday. I think it is nearly 20 pounds. I can really tell it in my clothes. You are amazing and your pictures truly tell your story....Congratulations on achieving your goal. I would love to hear what kinds of things you eat and how much you are eating daily and what kind of excersize you are doing. Thanks

Pre-Op - Tylenol not working
Kristin1031 replied to allheart's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told that I coul dnever take Ibuprofen or Aspirin again.....it will eat throught the tiny stomach. I think the heating pad is a great idea and you can try to switch between heat and cold....using ice and then the heat, or try moist heat. The heating pad is for my tummy and left side and into the left part of my back, I am three weeks out and I still use the heating pad. It is definately a lifesaver......I would recommend it to anyone being banded. If you click on the name or ticker it will take you to the website where you can create your own.....then just copy it the your signature here under USERCP at the top. Hope that helps!! -
Freeeezing..what does it mean?
Kristin1031 replied to waitingtiljan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am so glad to see this post and know that me freezing to death the last few weeks is normal.....LOL I have always been the hot one......fan on in the winter in the bedroom and so on....DH can barely handle that. Now I am the one with two blankets socks and pajama pants and sweatshirt and am still cold...... Glad this is a side effect of this that is normal..........:notagree Hasn't caused me any less sleep though....I am sleeping fine! -
Sorry Linda!! Silly me......Anyway Kudos to staving off the temptation of one of my favorite foods....:clap2: Thanks Sades for clearing that up......sometimes it is hard to recall who said what here. I have been out to restaraunts a few times since my surgery and the looks I get from the wait staff is incredible. Especially when I tell them I want nothing to drink.....LOL I asked for a to go container when I ordered my food......LOL When it came I took out the portion I could eat and put the rest away......It works really well to help to not over eat.

I am using fitday .com to enter all of my food and it too graphs it for you and there is a place for enterting your activity daily as well.......I like it there too and it is FREE!!!!!! But I am anxious to find out how you all like these computer devices......please keep us informed here. Thanks:)

I am eating alot of FF refried Beans with salasa and shredded low fat cheese with cottage cheese on top instead of sour creme. AWESOME I tell you....yummy!! Scrambled eggs with melted cheese is also a favorite. I have a Magic Bullet that I use to make my tuna salad and chicken salad and they are also very good. Mashed potatoes with shredded cheese, Tomatoe soup with a few oyster crackers that I let get soggy and really mushy. Oatmeal, and also yogurt mized with cottage cheese for Breakfast are some of the things I have been eating. You have to sometimes get a little creative....as Longhorn states you can eat anything that you puree.....so let your imagination run wild. Just remember to eat high Protein low fat and watch your calories. Hope that helps some!!
-
A straw? hmmmmmmmmm I was told to stay away from straws....and carbination......be careful it can cause gas. FF refried Beans with salsa shredded low fat cheese and cottage cheese on top instead of sour creme is AWESOME!! I have been living on the stuff for the last two weeks. Scrambled eggs with shredded cheese is also a great choice. Unfortuantely there are not that many choices at this time, unless you do as Longhorn and puree regular food and eat it. I have a Magic Bullet and I make my chicken salad and tuna salad in it and it is awesome. Anything you eat right now should be high Protein that will help with energy as well as feeling of fullness longer. My diet calls from two Protein shakes per day for the first three months. So that is all the advice I can give. Hope it helps.

I went to the website for the bodybugg WOW expensive....:girl_hug: Would be interested in finding out how it works for someone with the band.......Let us know if you find it extrememly helpful. Thanks
-
Lomghorn you are right everything you stated is true for me as well. My Dr also has said no snacking in between meals......I am not snakcing on anything....but I do have V-8 juice......it is yummy and it gives me some much needed Vitamins. I ate one fish stick the other night and a small teasponful of mashed potatoes and was full.....LOL My one year old grandson is eating more than I am....:girl_hug: I would never have believe in my wildiest imagination that I would be staisfied on this small amount of food had you told me. I was worried about it, but no more, I no that I can continue with the program and the weight will come off with it. Hugz and congrats to you on your success up to this point!!

Well Said Kristine...!! I think it is a matter of adjusting to everything the whole different life style that the band causes us to do. I know that at my classes I did the months before surgery, this was engrained into our brains....but until you actually are going through it, you have no idea what you are up against. For those who think this is easy.....guess again...it is not easy it takes alot of want to.....and it is hard work.....but I believe that once this get s to be a few months down the road, all the work we are putting in now, will pay off in weight loss as well as it becoming sort of second nature. The way of eating and lifestyle change is for the better, and I know how I feel today is a huge improvement in how I felt just one month ago.....so for those of you preparing for this journey....or just starting after surgery.....it does get better!!
-
Glad to hear things are going well with you Longhorn......seems like you are on the right track!! Sades same to you.....I still have 9 days left on mushies.....and I will be happy when I can cook again and actually eat some of it......I know DH will be as well.....although he has not complained once. I have been just living on lot so ff refried Beans and ff cheese and salsa......:girl_hug: I try to eat lots of Protein when I do eat.....since that is what I will be doing when I get back to regular food. SADES!! Wow pizza parlor I love that food, and I know some who do it with band, they limit it to once piece though and don't eat the dough. But sounds like you handled that temptation well.......:clap2: Great job Ladies!! We sound like we are all doing well and no one having too bad of issues right now, I am praying it stays that way with all us November Bandsters!!

Hi Melanie sounds like things are going really good for you as well. I am very pleased with my decision for my band. I have no regrets at this point. It has helped me rethink food and too actually put things in my mouth that are healthy for me. I agree with a poster here that I never had the problems eating what they tell you too in a diet, it is the portions I have always had problems with.......I think the success for me will be that 3 ounces of food actually fills me up....:hungry: I think we are all doing great. I need to start walking more and it is so cold here that I have not been getting outside. I have been dragging my feet going to the club to walk on the track because I so want to get back in the pool.......and I know that is no excuse. I will be glad when my 10 days are up so I can go back to working out. I have my next Dr visit on the 11th. I have not been weighing so I have no idea how much wieght is off since my last visit which was the 16th of Nov. Hats off to us though guys.......we are sailing along. :whoo:

Great Post Op Visit & Answers
Kristin1031 replied to hollyberries's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
WOW Cindy! Awesome weightloss.....but I agree with you I would rather lose it slower as well.....I think that is one way to keep our skin from being saggy after. I figured it out and to reach my ultimate goal I will need to lost 2.5 punds per week. This is the amount of weight that I was advised at my consultation visit that the band normally affords. So I feel I can do this. I just want to get back to the gym but I can't yet until I see him on Dec 11th. So 10 more days.......I just wanted to tell you how great you are doing.......you have to be feeling on top of the world. I too have no hunger yet and am blessed by this I know. -
Post-op...Sleeping on my side....when?
Kristin1031 replied to mwcassar's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I sletp on my side the first night by using a small pillow under my belly and I agree it hurt really bad to turn over in bed. But this gets much better over time. I am three weeks out and have no pain when turning over and I am still using a pillow because I still have twinges now and then. It gets better each week. Just hang in there you will be back to your old self before you know it!!:girl_hug: -
Awesome Lady!! Great Job....keep up that great effort.....it is paying off in your numbers!! :bounce:
-
I agree with Sades you will be able to start the New Year off right!! Congrats on the date and heres to a wonderful Christmas Present!! :clap2:
-
I am on mushies for three weeks....LOL I am glad though because I know that the thought of eating food the frist week was out of the ? I was too sore. I think now it might be alright but I do not want my stomach churning around in the digestion process.....and messing up the band getting into its resting position. It really hasn't been that bad being on this diet.....since I am not hungry it is a matter of reminding myself to eat......and drink.......

Nervous about eating...moving to soft foods
Kristin1031 replied to steph_co's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have been living on Refried Beans and Salsa with cheese and cottage cheese Scrambled Egs with cheese Yogurt mized with cottage cheese Mashed potatoes/w gravy and or cheese Soup SF Popcicles V-8 juice Water That is about it, and I have another week of this diet.......then I can graduate to regular diet I am getting bored with the same thing.....but I will do it I know how important it is. Oh I amost forgot 2 Protein shakes per day It is not hard for me because I measure everything I am not to have more than 3 ounces at each meal. I measure tot he T as I was instructed to do by my nutritionist.....She said it is to easy to over eat by eyeballing it. So I have not overeaten yet.....but I listen to my bodies cues and it will tell you when it is getting that full feeling. At least mine has. -
