Anyone in Charlotte, NC interested in forming a local support group?

Hi! I would definitely be interested! I live in Waxhaw. My surgery was in January 2015. -

I haven't taken metformin since surgery(1/27/15). My insulin level has been >50 for about 9 yrs and metformin didn't really help. At about 4 mos post op my pcp did labs and my insulin was 5.

My migraines actually got better since surgery

@@txprincess before surgery I had an RMR test. It is a breathing test to assess metabolic rate. I figure that it is similar to that. I have been losing very slow my surgery date was 1/27/15 and I have lost about 22 lbs since then. Surgeon is not concerned because it has been continuous. And my RMR was low preop. According to that I only burn just under 1100 calories per day without exercise. I have CFS and other health problems that make it tough to exercise. I pretty much can only walk for short periods at a time. So the # didn't really surprise me. I actually don't eat any "true carbs". Most of my carbs come from dairy, the few veges I do get in and quest bars. Hopefully they can figure out why you are not losing.

@@tiffin-scott Don't get down on yourself you are doing great! I have only lost 20 lbs since surgery. I feel like it is way too slow but both my primary and surgeon are happy with it.

I have chronic migraines so this was the deciding factor on having surgery or not. Surgeon said it was ok. But actually since surgery my headaches are better and I have only needed to take lower doses than before.

I drank them because I had a hard time finishing the shakes. They r not as heavy. I mostly drank the punch and raspberry. They do leave filmy stuff but wasn't that big a deal. Lots of protein and no carbs. Just check the bottle because they make it with 25 carbs and they are almost identical bottles.

I am 11 wks post op tomorrow and I have only lost 16lbs since day of surgery. So I think you are doing pretty good.

I was sleeved on January 27th. I have only lost 15 lbs since day of surgery. I eat about 700-750 cal per day. I eat mostly protein (a lot of chicken, dairy peanut butter). I try to do vegetables but don't usually have room. I do eat 1 - 2 quest bars per day. I have only been walking 2-3 times per week for about 30 min. Exercise is very difficult bc I have chronic fatigue. I have been exhausted since surgery. Plus I have a really low metabolism according to the RMR test. According to that I only burn about 1080 calories per day so I don't want to eat too many since I can't really exercise. So I think you are doing ok.

I had surgery January 27th so I am 7 weeks post op. Great!! It looks like you're doing well based on your posts. Are you able to get you Protein and liquids in pretty well at this point? We'll have to plan a time to meet and greet soon. Jaysen made me BEAUTIFUL last night, and he's just about done with his pre-op testing, so hopefully he'll get a surgery date soon. I'm thinking that we should try to get together after Easter. What do you think? After Easter is good for me. Let me know when and where you are looking at? Thanks! DeAnne -

Things are pretty good. Losing very slowly but I started with a BMI of 35. I also have many health problems including chronic fatigue and chronic migraines. So it makes it tough to really exercise. I went through Carolinas Weight Management. Dr. Gersin did my surgery. I have been very happy with him. I spent only 1 night at the hospital. -

Gastric Sleeve and chronic fatigue syndrome and/or chronic migraines
DDSPICRN replied to DDSPICRN's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have both plus some other health issues including thyroid. I am 7 weeks post op today. Had surgery on 1/27. I have been very tired and losing very slowly. I am only 13 lbs down since day of surgery. But the migraines haven't been too bad. Thank god because I don't want to take NSAIDs yet. I actually had my botox done on day 2 post op so I think that is helping. -
