Hi...my name is Beth...and I am here because I am sick & tired of being sick & tired!!
I have been fat all my life (was 293lbs at 12 yrs old). I grew up eating fried foods and/or whole pizza's for every meal, then moved on to fast food daily as a teenager. I lost over 100lbs as a teenager, but then got married to an abusive man and gained it all back within 3 years (& 2 kids). I finally got away from him and found a "magic" pill combination (fen-phen) and lost 100+ lbs again.
When I got pregnant with my 3rd child, I had to stop the "magic" and gained 70+ back during the pregnancy. I then had to have a total hysterectomy, gained more weight and have never been able to lose more then 10 lbs since...no matter what I do, how much I eat (or don't eat), how many miles I walk (was up to 6-7 miles a day, 6 days a week), no matter which "plan" I try...nothing has worked.
My youngest is now 19 years old, I am a "Nana" now to my first grand baby...and I have made the decision I want to be able to run and play with her!
I want to be able to fit in the seats at movie theaters, on airplanes, buses, trains (or anywhere really) - without paying extra or cutting off circulation!
I want to be able to ride roller coasters, tie my shoes without straining, be able to breathe when I walk upstairs. I want to walk, bike, hike, jog, run, swim, kayak...I want to have fun!!
I want not to be stared at, laughed at, called names, ridiculed, talked about behind my back, passed over for job opportunities, or left out of certain social situations...I don't want to live the "limited" life anymore!!!
I have went through all the necessary steps, 6 months of nutrition classes, gastro clearance, psych clearace, hematology clearance (I also had 4 clots in my left leg in Oct 2013 which resulted in a stent and an IVC filter placed...and also a lifetime of Coumadin with weekly bloodwork & Dr visits -- in which I was told while doing the filter placement I could not have any sedatives or pain meds beacause I was too large for them to try and roll me to complete the second part of the procedure...--after 24hrs on hourly morphine for pain...I was in excrutiating pain for 3 hrs BECAUSE I WAS TOO FAT FOR THEM TO ROLL ME...THAT WAS MY LIFE-CHANGING MOMENT--), pulmonary clearance (included sleep study where I was found to have "extreme" sleep apnea...with episodes of stopping breathing totaling 65 an hour - 32 mins of every hour I was not breathing!! - talk about scary!)
...and I am finally here!!
