No disability for "elective surgery"
lulabelle607 posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi all! I am hoping to have RNY in November. I am checking out the benefits section at work for short term disability. It says there that they will not approve disability leave for "elective or cosmetic surgeries"...I know wls is technically elective but this could really save my life. Is there any way I can get around this? Any and all input will be welcomed. Thanks in advance! -
It's no nice to see all these clevelanders on here! I'm going to SVCH downtown but I hear Cleveland clinic is wonderful as well!

NEWBIES..... LETS STICK TOGETHER
lulabelle607 replied to pattiecakes79's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
August starts month 4/6 on my official preop diet but I've been on this road for about a year now. It's hard but I'm excited that it's all finally ending (or beginning ) -

Thanks for sharing. I'm currently 290 and having surgery in November. Hopefully my results are as fantastic as yours! Wtg -
I called ins company today and asked the requirements for wls. I'm in month 3/6 of my pre op diet and just wanted to double check I have everything they need before I send in my information at the end of the 6 months. The lady on the phone said the 6 mo requirement is nowhere to be found on their end. I'm wondering if they dropped that requirement?? I see my nut and dr tomorrow but if this is true I could get surgery much sooner than expected! She did say they need a pre authorization from my dr...I'll have to get that but I think that's all that's left that I have to do!

Your progress sounds great. At this rate you'll lose 20lbs in a month. That's seriously amazing! -
Maybe good news?

I spoke with my patient advocate about what the lady I spoke with from customer service At Molina said. She said she hadn't heard about any recent changes so I may have gotten the wrong information. She said she'd call my insurance and get the all the requirements and see if anything had changed and that she'd call me back that same day. That was Wednesday. I tried calling Thursday and Friday and she didn't answer nor did she call me back. This run around is NO FUN! -

No, just RNY. And my work knows nothing about my surgery as of now. I have Medicaid, not insurance through work at this time. -

I am on month 3/6. August starts month 4/6. I'm really excited that I'm almost more than halfway there! What surgery are you having?
-
"It won't work for me"...I've been having this silly little voice in the back of my head telling me this all along. I'm preop (month 3/6) as well and I've been obese since age two (2!!!!). I've never had a normal life and this is my last option. Let's both MAKE it work. We can do this. We deserve it!!

Not feeling full on Full liquid diet!
lulabelle607 replied to mrs.papa923's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'd up the fluids and try to squeeze in more protein I'm pre op and I've started this habit now so I'm used to it. I really do eat less when I pack my meals with protein and I eat a lot less often as well since I'm still full from all that. -
How did you decide your goal weight?
lulabelle607 replied to pik's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm still preop but I want to aim somewhere in the 115-120 range. I'm a little over 5'1" and 22 years old. I haven't been that weight since I was about5 5 years old so I'm wondering if it's possible but I sure am going to try! -
So exciting!! How are you feeling?
