  6. I was on 1000 mg metformin 2x a day plus two shots of insulin and one shot of victoza daily. I was put on a sliding scale after surgery for my insulin. My surgery was May 16, 2014 and since June 28 I have needed no insulin and reduced my metformin to 500mg 2x a day. I could not be happier with these results.
  7. I'm experiencing my first stall between seven and eight weeks post op. Scale has not moved in five days after losing about 60 lbs in the first seven weeks. I'm not going to let it get in my head as long as I'm doing the right things ... And I am. I could exercise more but this stall seems par for the course so I will just ride it out.
  8. I must say I am thrilled with the results so far. Aside from the weight loss I have just gone 6 days with no insulin taken, also every bit of edema I had in my swollen legs feet and ankles are completely gone. My wife and I do not even recognize my legs anymore. I am having trouble getting in my food the feeling of being stuffed up to my neck is unsettling but I'll deal with it. I have no choice anyone else experience this?

It hurts every time i eat :(

I find it helps if I walk around the house I still get that chest throat thing and I'm almost 8 weeks out. Eat soft foods SLOWLY each "meal" should take about 30 minutes to finish. It will get easier so be patient.
  10. Kim, I had my surgery 7 weeks ago yesterday. I am type 2 diabetic was taking 64 units of humalog 75/25 everyday plus metformin. Since surgery I have been on a sliding scale with straight humalog plus the oral med. yesterday marked one week where I took NO insulin my numbers have stayed roughly between 115 and 135 requiring no shot on my part. I also suffered from terrible edema, my once muscular legs had morphed into swollen tree trunks and I could barely see the difference between my feet, toes, and ankles . By the end of my fourth week post op the edema was completely gone. I was also on a boat load of other medications about 9 daily. To date I am taking my omeprazole, metformin, lisinopril, and nadolol, and one or two of them may get dc'd in the near future. I am 48 years old and was 280 day of surgery. This morning I'm 220. Good luck to you it is in fact a great decision for most people but it is not easy mentally at all.
  11. I've been pretty amazed, all things are possible. TY.

    Teachers :)

I took two weeks off from work. I highly recommend taking the time to let your body start healing.
