Jess30 replied to Mindful's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
OHJuli Yeah sure I would take them but two pairs would be fine. Let me ask you a question. Since your at 211 what size are you currently in? I am trying to figure out what size I will be in. I am so excited...I know the jeans I have run a little big for a 22, it will probably be another solid month of losing and hitting the gym before all 22's fit so good, but that is okay, I am ready to work for it... Good luck Juli! YOur doing awesome!!!!:clap2: -

SpecialK, That sounds awesome. I may not be able to do evenings but keep me posted. You just never know...Especially if you do a weekend thing. My hubby and kids could go shopping while I meet up with everyone. -
Last week went well but I could only hit the gym four days. I did cardio 4/4 days and weight training 2/4 days. I was delayed on Friday and Saturday due to the snow/ice/wind storm, but that is really no excuse since I atleast have an elliptical at home. I did have a NSV I thought I would share. I have a pair of jeans that were my favorite, I haven't worn them in over four years but I couldn't part with them. Well three weeks ago they didn't fit but this Saturday I put them on and they fit, a bit tight but that is okay because in three more weeks they will fit perfect. I am so excited this will be 4-5 sizes smaller than what I started at....This is so exciting for me! This week I am shooting for 5/5 cardio workouts. 3/5 complete weight training workouts. Even though Christmas is getting closer, I really want to maintain my work outs. Does it seem harder to anyone else to try and make it to the gym... Stefani congratulations on your size 13! That is rockin! What do you do is spin class Di? It sounds like fun!

So does anybody have get together's wouldn't it be fun to get a group of all of us together. I don't usually do support groups because there in the evening but I would love to get a group of Ohio bandsters together like maybe once every three months? If someone is interested I would totally help organize it. I am in the Dayton Area. I can get anywhere pretty quick and would love to meet and discuss what weightloss has done for us. I think it would be an encouragement to all of us! I have been banded for four months and I am down on my count from 349 to 275, on my scale. Docs are a little different but this is what I am going with... Anyways I also go to a local gym in the Dayton area if anyone needs a good workout partner! I am starting to see NSV's and I got on a pair of 22 Jeans today! Hoooraaaayyyyyy! These were my favorite jeans back in the day. I can't quite wear them out yet but they are on!!! So if anyone is interested in getting a solid lap band support group together or if there is one already I would like to sign up!!! Thanks! Good luck everyone! -
Your coming to the buckeye state again? That is really cool so your in my state twice, you will have to tell me about your upcoming trip, next week.

I have seen a low glycemic index diet before but I didn't see anything about protein and absorption. I think that the low glycemic index has great food choices in it. In my workbook it also talks about lean meats and fish. I think each person are individuals, our bodies have different dna makeup therefore I believe that what works for one may not work for the other that is why not every diet works for each person the same. It's important to food journal so when your having weeks where your not losing weight you can find out what your doing differently. Including exercise. Anyways I always spend a lot of money on groceries, I hate it, that it's cheeper to buy junk than to buy healthy. Especially when insurances are so picky and all you here on the news is the problems with obesity. Whosya, I think it speaks leaps and bounds about going to step aerobics with your wife! I just go my fill yesterday, doing fluids until tomorrow. I am so excited that they got my port. It was a weird experience. Anyways 3/3 days cardio, 2/3 days weight training. Good luck this week!
-
Whosyadaddy, I am glad you finally got home! I can see that Ohio put it's greatest effects on you with that sinus infection. Ohio is really bad for that. They say Ohio is one of the worst places for allergy people I know a lot of people that would agree. 50 Laps is pretty awesome! Stefanie I wish we had a smoothie king in our area it sounds really awesome. I hope to exercise 5 days a week through the month of December. Whoseyadadday that is so awesome to have lost 80lbs in four months. My four months will be next week and I have lost 72 so I am almost there, I can't weight to knock this first 100 lbs off! I need to catch up on so much stuff around the house. I really need to wrap gifts. This week there are a lot of goals to accomplish as Christmas is fastly approaching! Well good luck everyone!

Hey everyone, what an encuragement you all are. I have been going back to the gym for about three weeks now. last week i was 3/5 days weight training and the eliptical. 2/5 days did my elliptical at home. This week I am 5/5 days elliptical and weight training. 125 ab crunches daily for 3/5 days. I am doing interval training on the elliptical for 30 minutes cool down for 5 and I am burning between 350-400 calories. Today I hit 406. I was totally siked. I am trying to start my passion for exercise again, before school starts back. I am loving how I am beginning to feel. I am excited about the exercise this month. Good luck to everyone. I just have to say that everyone is doing awesome. What a great thread! It's really nice to talk about the exercise.

My favorite things I like that I feel like getting up every morning. I love being able to work out on the elliptical faster than I used too. I love it when my tight clothes get loose. I love that my band doesn't let me eat when I am upset. I love how it teaches me to get control of my actions. I love it when my mom tells me that I am looking good. I love how I have more energy. I love my SFjello with cool whip free on top. I love knowing that as long as I put in some effort this weight is coming off, and will continue to come off until I get to my goal. I like feeling my bones in my body I like having a neck. I like that people can see my eyes better than they ever used too. I love my life more everyday I have this band....

Zannie, Congratulations on the 100 pound weight loss! I am so excited because I have 28 more pounds before I see one hundred. I am getting so excited. What are some things that changed for you since all the weightloss? Your all such an inspiration to me. -
That is so awesome! Congratulations to all of you one your weight loss! I have about 28 pounds to go before I hit one hundred, and I can't wait. I was scared at first about being able to lose all the weight I needed to. My doctor even told me that I should have really considered the bypass with how much I have to loose. I was so mad because two years before that he was completely against the bypass. I am just thankful I have the band it was the best choice for me and I just wanted to tell you girls Congratulations. I know we will all see goal!

My friend has a membership to Bally's she likes it a lot. So do you run? Is that your goal to get to the 5k? I am just wondering. I have started going back to the gym recently and I was just thinking how I would really like to run in a marathon or local charity runs. I do the elliptical at the gym a lot. I am up to about 40 minutes but I would like to be able to do it for an hour. How long do you do cardio? It looks like your doing a great job, keep up all the hard work.

Hey Everbody! It's been hard lately with all of the food around me. My first Thanksgiving with no dressing or stuffing as they call it. I am thankful I didn't have horrible cravings. It's so crazy that we as people put for in the forefront of ever holiday. I started working out at the gym. It's been tough but I am doing it. Do you know what being heavy gets you at the gym? More calories burned. As I loose weight I know it will be harder to burn each calorie. Well this week I was hit with a lot more emotional battles not to mention, a wedding, and this is my worst week of the month. Trying to work through it. This is my craving bloated week. Anyone else have those? I can't wait to get another fill the the down side of being a self pay is that I don't want to do fluro to get a fill and I am still so heavy they had trouble finding my port. So I have to go back in three weeks, to try again. I am ready for a fill and I am trying to have self control. It's been a lot harder. My eyes are turning onto bread more and more. I haven't touched bread this whole time. I am having a hard time feeling full ever but I just force myself to stop. I feel like over all I am winning the battle, but boy is it getting tougher. Well I thought I would just post some thoughts about all of this stuff. The good news I found out at my docs office that I did have saline in my band at the time of surgery. She also said that somehow saline still dissipates in the band. She didn't explain how but she just said if they remove all the saline from the band they never get out what they put in. I thought I would share it was interesting news. I nope everyone has a great week!!! -

SpecialK, Congratulations on your upcoming appointments. I know how hard it is to disrobing but just remember soon there will be a day when your not so ashamed of your body! I know it's hard but the one thing to know is that people all have different struggles, ours just happens to be the weight, and atleast we are standing up to face the challenge to not live our lives the way we have been. Other people continue to develop bad habits and we are learning how to fix ours. We are on our way to having new lives! I do know all about the ankle edema. It was horrible. Now after losing just 69lbs. I am not having any more problems with my ankles, I wish you lots of blessings as you move toward the band! -

Okay I guess that wasn't the greatest introduction but here it goes: My name is Jessica and I have been obese most of my life. I don't remember ever being thin. I am married and have two children. I am a full time college student in Dayton Ohio. I actually live in a small town about 15 minutes from Dayton. I was banded on August 13, 2007. Two days before I turned 30. I was 349 at my highest. I am currently at 280, and that has been a great difference. I am 6 pounds away from my lowest weight in almost 5 years. I am excited to start losing the weight. I belong to a ladies gym and I chat a lot on here for most of my support because of my children and my schedule. I am thankful to be banded, I was a self pay because of an exclusion. I tried for four years to have WLS Surggery and finally it happened for me. I am so thankful! I can't wait to continue losing and become the person I want to be on the outside instead of just on the inside. I would also like to never hear, "Your face is so pretty," ever again for as long as I live. I want the whole body. I don't need to be as skinny as a rail but I am tired of the fat. I was suffering from early signs of orthopnea and ankle edema, asthma, esophageal reflux, and probably diabetes as well I just refused to go get check for it. I am thankful that since a month after surgery my ankles are not swelling any more I can sleep without coming out to the recliner, no more headaches in the middle of the night and I am definitely not as tired. I can't tell anyone enough how having the band has changed my life. -

Hi Lisa, My name is Jessica. I am from a small town outside of Dayton and I was also banded by Dr. Clarey. I love my band and it was the best thing I could have ever done. Anyways I hope you got approved. I had to self pay, but I am just glad to have been able to afford to do it! It was the best thing I could have ever done. Good luck! I had the band 8/13/07 and I have lost 69lbs to date. -

Mary, That is a good idea how you broke your weight up into thirds! I know I need to think like that as well. Patience is not my strong point. I am getting ready to start including exercise. I had to wait because I was so overwhelmed with college and my kids and all that stuff to make time for the gym. Although I walk on a daily basis I know it's just not enough for me. I am excited and I will not ever give up on this quest no matter how many bad days I get... Thanks Mary and everyone else who gave such positive feedback. I sincerely appreciate it. Jessica -

My name is Jessica. I was banded on 8/13/07. I have lost 64lbs. I am getting ready for my first fill next week. I am so glad I made a choice to get the band. I was having severe edema in my ankles and I believe signs of right sided heart failure. I never really knew until recently all of the health problems I was experiencing. I was 5'4 and a BMI of 59. My BMI is now around 48. I still feel inadequate around the people who have less to lose than me. My highest weight was 349. I don't know how I got that hi except I was living to eat...and that's about all. I am starting to feel better than I ever have but recently I am discouraged about how much weight I have to loose. It seems like you don't hear about people losing two hundred pounds and seriously that is around what I need to weigh. If you do hear of them they have also had tummy tucks and everything else. I am not knocking at tummy tuck but I just want to talk to people about weight loss results. It is the one thing that encourages me. Anybody else? -
I am 3 months out today and I haven't had my first fill yet. I know that I could use one. I am not gaining weight but I am not feeling as satisfied, but I think that is a pretty long time. I go next tuesday for my first fill.

Hey Traci, Sometimes it just depends. It could still be for many reasons. Don't give up, but if you continue to wonder just call and ask. I consulted with Dr Osborne. He seemed really nice but my insurance wouldn't cover so I did self pay with someone a little closer to my home that was more affordable. Very nice office. Traci don't give up there could be a lot of other variables sometimes too you just have to monitor what you eat whether you feel full or not. After the preop diet and the first five weeks I learned that I can live without the food for longer than I could ever imagined before. Good luck!

Jim, I totally understand failing is detrimental to me. It may just be that you need to find your sweet spot. It sounds like your trying really hard. It's important be watching so close and making good choices because our bands our just the tools... At some point we still have to learn to make better choices... Just don't give up, look how far you have come!! That's so awesome! Take care Jim, I understand how stressful it gets, I really do.

Thanks Pam! I really appreciate your reply! I cannot eat bread and I am not doing beef really well, but I love cooking with white ground trukey breast. It's been a better choice for me. I had a bad experience with a Wendy's hamburger patty. I don't know what I was thinking. I am learning, I have a little more weight to lose than you. I think it's awesom you have lost 32 lbs! Good Luck!
