Is anyone required to use whey protein isolate only versus using whey protein? What's the difference and will it really hurt to use the non-isolate powder?

How much water were you able to get in the first few days after your surgery? Yesterday I only got in about 40oz total including my water, and shakes. I feel like I should be getting more in.

I had LRNY on Tuesday, gained 3lbs while in the hospital and have lost all but .4 of those three pounds as of this morning.

Nothing is wrong with you! As soon as I got my date, I literally planned a food funeral! My coworkers cooked and brought in all of my favorites and we had a great time with it! Doing so accomplished two things...1) it let everyone that I work with know that my process had begun and after the food funeral I would need their support in my efforts to be healthy. 2) it let me mentally and physically put to rest all of the foods that helped me get into the situation that I am in (morbid obesity). Not to say temptation won't come, but having the formality of it really helped me. And oddly enough, I couldn't eat nearly as much as I would have liked to!

I'm doing ok. I think I underestimated the post op discomfort and how immobile I'd be. I'm not used to being still and having people have to help me do everything, so that's an adjustment. I guess I was just excited and ready for the drastic weight loss part and looked right past the recovery phase lol

I'm in Covington and. Had my RNY on Tuesday at Emory Midtown.

I struggled terribly with the liquid diet. My saving go to liquid was strained cream of potato soup followed by a sf popsicle or sf jello. It filled me and made me 'feel' like I was having a meal. Do you have to do the mag citrate on Sunday?

You're date will come up quickly! I loved the Atkins line of shakes (especially the dark chocolate royale and cafe caramel). Those can be found at Walmart for less than $6.00 for a case if 4. They have 15g of protein. I also loved loved loved GNC's ready to drink Go Lean shakes. If you have a gold card, they're about $10 for a case of 4, but they have 25g of protein and taste great! The only thing is my NUT told me not to use these as post op protein shakes because the body doesn't absorb the most from them. But they really helped me during my pre op process. Eating better and using those shakes yielded me a 25lb loss before surgery. Hope this helps.

It says why up there. My insurance was terminated without giving me notice. So all I have to do it call back once my insurance is up and running again and I'll have a new date Sorry - I should have been more clear. I was wondering why the insurance was cancelled. But no worries, you'll have a date again soon. No, have heard other reasons why procedure was cancelled last minute (doc was sick, patient was sick, etc) but not because insurance was cancelled. Might be a blessing in disguise.

Did you have to do swallowing test? I did and that stuff was DREADFULLY GROSS!

My doc has me drinking an ounce an hour and I haven't had any problems.

Mine went well. Feeling better every few hours. Am able to get liquids down ounce by ounce. Stomach is super sore though. Not too much trouble with gas...I came prepared with gas ex strips and they were a life saver. Hope to go home tomorrow!

Good grief this stuff is TART!!! Palatable, but very tart. I wasn't prepared for that! Lolol

Ke-sa I'm with you. Just got finished cleaning the house like a crazy lady and an finishing up the laundry now. Then it's dropping the kids to my mom and back home to pack! Tomorrow is clear liquids only as well, so I'm not doing anything except existing!

Oops sorry...normal food proteins will coven from your lean meats and fish. Salmon is a great source of protein.

Are you on liquids only?

I'm wearing a sundress so it's nice and loose...and probably flip flops so I can just slide my feet in without having to bend forward to put shoes on.

Hi - just wanted to say hello because my surgery is July 8 at 10:00am! I'm like you - nervous and super excited at the same time!!!!

A surgery buddy is just someone or a group who chit chat throughout the process and can share tips, how you're feeling, etc... Just people moving through the process and able to bounce their experiences off of one another. Nothing like being able to talk to people in the same position you are. ????
