RNY - how are you feeling?
Angel❤️ replied to Angel❤️'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@golden39 - I can't speak for your doctor, so I always say check with them first, but my doc let me bring them to the hospital and I took one the second they put me in my room post op. -

Hi mamie60 - yesterday was my first full day out and it was great! I did have to take a mid day break to nap for a while but, all in all, it was so nice! I even drove! I was going to ask how the soup did with your new tummy? I would be afraid of the fat content of the soup... It didn't bother you? Do you think that's where the bloating and gas are coming from? Both cheese and broccoli, in and of themselves, can cause gas, add that to milk and that might be your culprit. If not, the only thing that's worked to relieve gas and bloating for me are the gas ex strips that dissolve on your tongue and lots of walking. -
Pik, for me it was probably a good week before I stopped asking myself why the heck I chose to do this procedure. It was very much a painful and emotional roller coaster. My surgery was on the 8th and yesterday was the first day I had a 'comfortable' level of pain where I could go to the store, visit with family, and drive (still needed a mid day nap). Hopefully, over the upcoming days you will start to turn the corner and slowly feel less pain day after day.

Anyone using non-isolate protein shakes or supplements successfully? I find I really don't like any of the protein isolate powders/drinks, to the point it's hindering me getting my liquid protein in, and frankly getting expensive to keep trying new ones. I love the Atkins shakes but they are not protein 'isolate'. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I asked for the nausea patch before surgery. Not sure it helped much because I'm typically sick until the anesthesia gets out of my system. But it may help someone else.

Surgery date was 7/8 and the doc has me out until 8/19. -
Yep, I'm post op and I obsessed about my procedure as well. Learn all you can and just keep in mind that each person is different. The only thing is I would caution about buying too much pre-op because you may find post-op your new tummy may not agree with certain things and you don't want to waste money if you don't have to. Happy researching and reading!

2.23 miles?!?!?!? Way to go Maime! I was happy that I could make it around my block today, let alone over 2 miles! What's your secret? Are you having any lower back pain? I think mine is coming from me trying to compensate for the sore stomach muscles. If I tried to walk a mile, let alone over two miles, they'd be picking me up off the pavement! Lol -
Glad all went well @@pik! Hang in there, the next several days are rough, but once you turn that corner, it'll be well worth it! Rest rest rest (and walk!)

Did you have to pay your surgical copay upfront
Angel❤️ replied to Natasha Estrada's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ditto. My surgeon would not schedule my procedure until my portion was paid. -
Anyone having surgery 7-15?
Angel❤️ replied to *Misty*Raine*'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That stupid incision pain SUCKS!!!! There's no other way to put it. It hurts like the dickens no matter what you do. But being 10 days post opt, I encourage you to hang in there...it does ease after a while. I still feel it now, but it's more of a nuisance than a real pain like last week and doesn't hinder my movement (or breathing) like before. -

Welcome Carmen! You picked a great place, lots of really wonderful people on the site. Are you only able to have clear liquids or can you do strained cream soups? If so, I found Campbell's cream of potato soup (strained and made with milk) really curbed the hunger. Good luck! -

When I first moved to purée, I tried yogurt and had the same result. I left milk based products alone (used soy milk instead). Tried again this week and had yogurt with no problem. I guess I just needed to give it a little more time. That may be the same for you or it may be that cottage cheese won't be your friend post op. -

Lolol yes ma'am! My sample menu from my bariatric team has grits and cream of wheat/rice on the list as long as they are very thin. I've had them with no problem! -

What kind of stuff did your nut say you can have? My sample menu for purée and soft foods has things like you mentioned-eggs (which I love along side Gerber peaches lol), cream of wheat or grits (made very thin), yogurt, etc. I was surprised how palatable the Gerber chicken and turkey are (after adding a little salt). Today I had that with Gerber carrots and the noodles from Campbell's chicken noodle soup. All really soft, easy to make and half way decent with regard to taste. I'm not gonna lie, I can't wait for Saturday when I move to soft foods like chicken and veggies in the crockpot, etc, but for now, I make do with the types of foods above. I would love to hear other's soft food suggestions! -

Leena, so sorry your issues continue. I sure hope they get you on the mend soon!
