Hey, there is nothing wrong with venting. We all need to do it sometimes. The first two weeks after my surgery I refused to take my prescription. I was scared that I would get hooked, so I would melt Tylenol. Have you tried that? Also, please be mindful that sometimes that after surgery your body simply can not tolerate the same types of food AND that sometimes people develop acid reflux. Foods you normally had no problem with can make you throw up and you have no idea why. Like a tomato or anything tomato based. Or acidic fruits. Please make sure you check with your doctor and let us know how it works out.

Returning for Support and Reminders
Shawnna1275 commented on Shawnna1275's blog entry in Ready For My Next Chapter
Thank you both very much for the encouraging words. Trace ~ the funny thing about it is that she does not realize that what she is doing could be considered "sabotage". No matter how many times I have explained it. But at least I know what to do about it now. -
So, I am back on the site for the first time since my bypass surgery back in July 2014. I never realized how much I actually need the support of others who have had weight loss surgery. I thought that having my mother around would be a great support system. Even though the therapist, in the pre-op therapy session, told me that she believed my mother sabotages my weight loss goals. When I said that carbs like potato chips and bread are my down fall, she started bring chips into the house 2 bags at a time, buying 10lb bags of potatos and started buying bread again ALL the time. I realize that it is my choice to eat the stuff but it has been hard to resist in the past two weeks. I have more support from my coworkers than I do her, which is amazing to me. One thing that I have learned is that I can no longer let her be the only person in the house who cooks. I have to take control of my kitchen and make sure that I have more healthy than not food in my pantry. If I hear her say, "Healthy food costs too much" one more time, I am going to SCREAM!!! Of COURSE healthy food costs more, but if she is not paying for it then why is she complaining. Anyway... That is what prompted me to come back to the site. I need support and to see some reminders that weight loss success can be attainable. I had slowed down my weight loss because I did not want it to go too fast and I end up looking like some kind of bobble head. That has happened to a lot of people. I also do not want to start looking too old. Hmmm...vain much? I suppose so. But, hey, I am being honest.

Hi Tisa, First, I understand what you mean. This is my first day back to the site since my bypass surgery on July 10, 2014. I deliberately slowed down my weight loss because wanted it to look more natural. Now, I need to pick up the pace and go for another fifty pounds. Congrats on completing your first semester of college. Have fun in San Diego. I grew up in L.A. and I MISS it!!

What Are Some Things You Can't Wait for POST OP?
Shawnna1275 replied to Denise73's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
@@butterfyeffect I completely understand. I can not wait to walk into Old Navy and shop, instead of having to purchase their items online only. For now, I can't wait for the next month to be over. At this point, I will be happy to get back into my 22/24 size clothes that I already have in my closet . -
Hi, I started my two week liquid diet two days ago. I am in the same boat. This is the absolute worst!! I also have to attend a large function on the 4th. I know that the Protein shakes help. I plan to keep moving and stay away from the food. If they are playing games or have other activities, I will be in that area. I might even offer to walk the dog. Anything to keep me from seeing the entire crowd eat. I also plan to download the bariatripal app so that I can get to the support groups for moral support if I need it.

That sounds like a great plan. I think that I am a little afraid to set my goals that high.

Dipping toes in the water
Shawnna1275 commented on dsdesigna's blog entry in Justification for the Justified
You are right on all accounts. It is a bit overwhelming. I intend to go and buy my first full month supply this coming Tuesday after my Pre-Op class. I renewed my GNC membership two weeks ago. I know that I will be there for certain chewable vitamins and I love the unflavored powder by UnJury, but I will be shopping at Sam's Club for the majority of my protein powder. The have a 5lb bag for $34.99 with the $7.00 instant savings. If get a bag of the vanilla flavor, you can mix other flavor powders (Crystal Light) in and have more variety. So far, sugar free jello has helped when I want to me feel like I am eating something. And the crystal light mixes are not that bad. However, I do prefer a natural tea bag to all those powders. -
My surgery date is July 10th!!! After visiting the surgeon's office, I am excited and scared. I started my liquid diet. Yesterday was the first full day. It was not so bad during the day. I stayed active in my normal routine. The evening was the worst. I do not know why but it simply was. I want to avoid the kitchen altogether but that is unrealistic, so I have been running in there fixing my shakes and running out. Trying to make sure that I do not slip up and eat something. Yesterday I was fixing my mother some cheerios and popped one in my mouth. I spit that thing out so fast you would have thought it was a fly. "oops!! Can't have that." We will see how it goes.
