I very rarely post before and after pics, but I feel safer doing it here than I do anywhere else. Since I'm only 9 months out (I was sleeved 6-30-14), I consider myself to be a work in progress and not necessarily at my ultimate "after." I've lost 100 pounds, though, and I'm very happy where I am. I'd like to lose a bit more, but if I was told that I had to stay at exactly the weight I'm at now forever, I'd be blissfully happy.

Wow, what an amazing compliment, thank you so much. I never thought that I would be where I am now, and I'm so grateful. The truth is that if I can get here, anyone can get here. -

9 Months Later... Before and "After"

Thank you! It really doesn't matter how quickly you get there, slow and steady wins the race. I've been feeling great since day 1, and every day after. Just knowing that you're heading in the right direction feels awesome! I know that people get caught up in the numbers, but one of my most monumental victories happened at 3 weeks out, when my husband could finally sleep with me again because I wasn't snoring loudly enough to wake the dead! I hadn't lost that much at that point, but my health and quality of life (sleep apnea) was already improving dramatically. That's a brilliant thing to happen, I am a single mum and my biggest thing has been I cud get into a pair of trousers i hadn't worn in 3 years I was so happy! Did u have any times where U wud put a few lbs on?? I weighed tonight and I put on 2kg yet I haven't been eating wrong or anything and I am so confused Of course my weight has gone up at times, particularly around "that time" of the month. 3-4 pounds is not unusual, but it usually goes back down by the next week. Also, you mentioned that you weighed yourself at night... Personally, when I weigh myself at night, it's ALWAYS 3-4 pounds more than it is in the morning. I very rarely weigh myself at night, for that reason. -

Wow, thank you all soooo much. More than anything else, I FEEL amazing, like an entirely different person. I have so much energy, and I feel so much healthier. This surgery has exceeded my wildest expectations, and I truly feel that it's the best decision I've ever made for myself. -
Exactly 2 months out, and feeling great!
TheNewJulie posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I know I still have a long way to go, but I'm a lot better off than I was 60 days ago! (And 45 pounds ago). This is a picture from a wedding I attended last night. I'm on the left, in the black dress. This surgery is the best thing I've ever done for myself!! -

Thank you both so much! I feel fantastic, inside and out. -
I was "sleeved" on 6/30, and I called my surgeon's office today to inquire about when I can get in the pool/ ocean. They told me I can swim at 3 weeks, which will be next Monday... While I trust the information I was given, I'm just wondering if others out there in the sleeve community have had experience swimming 21 days after surgery. I'm trying to avoid any potential incision site issues (or issues in general). Thanks in advance for any info!

Disappointed, discouraged, depressed ????
TheNewJulie replied to Meli65's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I completely understand your disappointment and frustration, I'm sure I would be inconsolable if this happened to me. The only thing I can say is that I truly believe everything happens for a reason, and I'm sure your surgery will happen when it's the right time. Unfortunately, the "right" time in this scenario is directly influenced by your surgeon's personal life... Just keep doing what you're doing, eating right and changing your habits now. By the time you have surgery, you'll be a pro! Keep your head up. -

You look amazing! -
I would go ahead and schedule that endoscopy. It seems like you've tried other nausea remedies, and they're obviously not working. Once they get a better look at what's going on on in the inside, they'll have a better idea how to fix your problem. 200 calories a day is definitely not enough to sustain you.

I'm exactly one month post-op. Had my period the day of surgery (6/30) and have it now. Today I had the worst cramps I can ever remember having, to the point that I almost vomited and thought I was going to pass out. Tylenol did NOTHING. Anyone else ever experience this?

I'm Jewish, as well... And hamantashen with Nutella sounds incredible! Lol

So What's Your Opinion - Isopure or Isopuke?
TheNewJulie replied to Dallas_P's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I tried Isopure prior to surgery and I still like it now. I like Alpine Punch, Mango Peach, and Blue Raspberry. When I was in the clear liquid phase after surgery, I used the Isopure to make Jello (replaced one cup cold water in the ingredients with one cup Isopure out of the fridge) and it added protein to my jello. Some combos are really good, like strawberry jello made with Mango Peach Isopure. Good stuff! -
I'm 25 days out of sleeve surgery today, down over 31 pounds from my surgery day weight. I woke up at 4:30 this morning to my fiancé hugging me. He said, "You were sleeping so quietly that I wanted to make sure you were okay." He was half joking, but the truth is that I really was sleeping silently! Considering the fact that he was sleeping on an air mattress in the living room in June because my sleep apnea/ snoring was SO BAD, I consider this a huge victory! Yay!

Thank you, RJ, that's a great idea! I'm going to keep a list of NSVs! Pookeyism, you're so right... Slowly regaining my health is an amazing feeling!

Just started week 4, anyone else? Whatcha eating?
TheNewJulie replied to sleevenewbie621's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was sleeved on 6/30, and I went swimming on Tuesday without a problem. I didn't really swim much, but I was definitely submerged in water for an extended period of time. My doctor had said that I could swim after 3 weeks... It may be worth it to mention that I didn't have a drain or anything after surgery, and I also didn't have any stitches (my doctor uses dermabond (sp?)). I think that might make a difference when it comes to incision healing and the time from surgery to swimming. -
Thanks, everyone. It feels great to be able to sleep AND breathe at the same time! Lol
