Has anyone cheated and ate whole foods on their post op diet?
une nouvelle vie replied to Gianacruz's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You're only 3 days out and you want to eat whole foods? Obviously you can do what you choose but I would say absolutely not. I say this as someone who cheated one time. The night before I started my puree diet I had 2 ounces of baby food fruit because I wanted to taste something. You are 3 days out. Your staples aren't even close to healing. They've only just started and you could very well cause yourself major complications. Drink some broth or sit outside in the sun and talk with your mom to pass the time. Whole foods are going to bring you problems, in my opinion. -
@#9grammy They didn't specify why, but my surgeon's office also said no Flintstone Vitamins too.

Look at you go!

I am only 3 weeks out from surgery so take my suggestion with that in mind but I am using this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00G8VK1QS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It is unflavored so I just mix it with some Crystal Light or even into food.

I love their broccoli slaw. SO many things you can do with it.

I'll be following this thread as well since I will be 3 weeks out tomorrow and starting my vitamins soon. The sheet my surgeon gave me said to avoid gummy vitamins, but said I'd be using liquid or chewable for at least the first 3 months.

Ohio Sleevers - Where Are You?
une nouvelle vie replied to CrisH64's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I realize you did this post a couple of month ago, but I'm just seeing it so I thought I'd chime in. I was sleeved by Dr Curry at JourneyLite on June 23rd. It was a BREEZE and I'd been so very scared beforehand. Everyone who works there is so nice and calming. My anesthesiologist was so awesome and he put me right at ease. I had a little pain when I woke up but they took care of that with meds. As soon as I was ready they got me up and walking and I felt pretty good. They left it to me when I felt like going back to work and since I work from home I was working a few hours a day by my 5th post-op day. They were more than happy to write me off for longer though. -
Ohio Sleeve patients?
une nouvelle vie replied to angela3472's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ohio sleeve patient checking in. Surgery was done on June 23rd. I had some pain the first day and was pretty tired the first three days, but I am very lucky that within one week I felt like my old self again except the constant hunger was gone. If you have an office type job I can easily see being back to work in a week. I have a desk job I work from home and I was working by my 5th post-op day. Granted that's because I work from home, but I felt good. Everyone's journey is different though, and you have to listen to your body. -
Anyone in Ohio?
une nouvelle vie replied to Dawn2680's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Columbus area patient who was sleeved last month. I went down to Cincy to Dr Curry because I was self pay and he was considerably cheaper than the places here in town. Does anyone know if there are open support groups around Columbus for bariatric patients? I know a lot of the hospitals/programs have their own but I'm sure that is just for their own patients. -
Carbs Help?!
une nouvelle vie replied to Hannah Kinslow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there. I was sleeved on 6/23 and saw my surgeon and nutritionist yesterday for my first post-op. They were okay with my 60grams of Protein but actually told me to start eating MORE carbs because I've been around 15 a day. Each doctor is different, but my nutritionist said she'd like to see me get to about 35-40 a day. Honestly, I'm not sure how I'm going to do that right now. I'm trying to stay between 2 and 3 ounces per meal and to get 60 or more protein I am mostly only eating protein. Carbs have been my downfall all my life. You can imagine how bemused I was to hear someone to tell me to eat more. -
Thank you for this information. I'm 2 weeks out and just saw my surgeon yesterday. They said they don't want me to start vitamins (except B12 - I got a shot) until my next visit in 2 weeks. Still, I looked at some of the "bariatric" vitamins and they do seem pricey. Do you take a sublingual B12? If so, may I ask which one?

Anyone in Diabetes Remission?
une nouvelle vie replied to brians34's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This is me exactly. About 4 months before my surgery I starerted a high protein/low carb diet and my diabetes was VERY under control with it to where I only had to take metformin. Since my sleeve 2.5 weeks ago I haven't taken any diabetes medication and I'm testing between 90-110. -
I'm nowhere close (2 weeks out) to being ready for this but I've got these bookmarked for future use. The first one definitely looks like someting you could prepare the night before. Portable egg scramble: http://bariatricfoodie.blogspot.com/2013/01/niks-portable-egg-scramble-kit.html And Hungry Girl has a whole series of egg mugs: http://www.hungry-girl.com/biteout/show/best-of-egg-mug-recipes

confused please help
une nouvelle vie replied to wolfmom71's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you seen your surgeon for your follow up yet? If so, what did they say about your progress? I had my two week follow up yesterday and both my doctor and my nutritionist both wanted to know about food intolerances so it seems they'd find it important if you were feeling so sick from everything. I'd give them a call and let them know exactly what's going on and see if they can help you get some relief. Hang in there. -
Congrats! It's always a good thing to read such good news.

June sleevers, check-in!
une nouvelle vie replied to cutiecake's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there! I was sleeved on June 23rd. I'm the biggest of y'all! My heaviest weight was 446 pounds when I met the surgeon in February 2014. He put me on a high protein/low carb pre-op diet and I was down to 355 on the date of my surgery. I'm one week out today and 346. I am just coming off my 7 day clear liquid diet and moving on to pureed foods. We can do it! -
My surgery was June 24th
une nouvelle vie replied to kimi071708's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My surgery date was the 23rd so we're pretty close to the beginnings of journeys! Congrats to you. It's easy to fear failure when we're just getting started and not sure what to expect, but I have to believe you're just full of those fluids they pump us full of for medical procedures and you WILL drop some weight soon. We just need to follow the program and do the best we can.
