TENaciousTENS "roll call" as promised!
trapped inside replied to OregonHolly's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You are so right! I feel the same way. I still have to make choices everyday and I am making much better ones. It is not the easy way out, it is still a conscious decision for a healthier lifestyle. Amen, Amen, Amen. -
SueSue, Did you read what you just wrote? A six inch sub? and some soup? What were you eating before? I know I could have eaten a 12 inch sub before my new lap band life. And going back for oatmeal...Yeah! you made a wise choice. Yes you are still hungry but you are making good choices. You'll find the right fill. Keep telling your doctor how you feel.

I just made Christmas cookies with all the women in my family (my idea). Everyone was just as annoying as usual except that we we're all in close proximity. I got stressed and started popping cookies in my mouth. Now I am miserable. I'm so full and I'm mad at myself for falling into my old coping mechanism.

That sounds very wise Amy. Thats kind of what I did at Thanksgiving. I told myself I could have anything but that I was going to be picky and only have the best. anne

9 pounds lost in total and gaining it back
trapped inside replied to cQQlgirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Child of Yeshua, Keep reading, you will see we are all in the same boat. Try reading the threads from older bandsters after several fills. I have not been filled yet so I am jealous and you only have to wait 2 weeks for the next one! Some are waiting 2 months! Hang in there. You'll get there. And I say put that scale away! Concentrate on what you are doing right. -
me...we can't get along very well! I need advice FAST!

Amy, I too feel your pain. I have not been filled yet and in the evenings I am ravenous! I find I do better if I eat about every three hours. Please keep trying to measure and do all the wonderful things you have been doing. I bought little spoons and forks that I got at TJ Max. It forces me to take smaller bites and makes the meal last longer. I too have gained back a few pounds and I know I'm eating way less than I use to. I think its the bodies way of dealing with the previous starvation. Hang in there. In 6-9 months we are all going to be in a different place (and smaller clothes!). -
I wonder if it has something to do with the Protein levels we're consuming. My face feels like suede! I try to exfoliate and it still feels rough! I've always had decent skin. This is just wierd. Anne

When did you feel up to exercising and how much are you doing?
trapped inside posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded on 10/29/07 and I'm taking small walks outside about 10 minutes twice a day. I'm a little anxious so I'm walking around inside the house too. I don't want to do too much but I don't want to baby myself? What is everyone else doing? Anne -
The doctor's dietician told our lap band group that we should aim for 70 grams a day for the next 2 years! She said that you really need about 50 but if the doctor said 50 than people would only get 30 and so on. I bought some "Protein water" special k20 that is pretty good but it is expensive, about $1.50 bottle. I do ok drinking the protein in drinks but I can't stomach it added to Soups or Cereal. Blehh. Can't wait to get through this phase. Anne

Cassiew, did you try putting some broth or gravy on the chicken. It may have been too dry. Anne -
Banded 10/29 and feeling great!!

Robin, It's been a week! I have one more week to go and then can start pureed food. I go to nutrition class later this week to learn more. I rarely take my pain medicine any more but I love my heating pad! It makes my abdomen feel better than the pain medicine and eases the tension in my back. I go back to work next week and I'm a little worried. I see my doctor on Thursday. How are you doing? Are you weighing yourself? -
I'm curious how everyone is coming up with a goal weight. Is it what they weighed when they were 20, when they got married, before an accident, "ideal body weight...." My ideal body weight is 135 and I don't know if I can dare to dream a goal like that or if I should make mini goals instead. Anne

I'm so happy and excited! I've made it through my first day on full liquids and it was doable. I'm pretty sore but it seems to be better if I get up and walk frequently. Sitting or lying down makes me really sore when I do get up. Mom called two days before surgery to tell me I was taking the easy way out. She called again last night when I was still at the hospital to tell my husband that she still thinks it was a bad idea. Why would anyone do that? I guess thats what mothers are for, to impose doubt. Where is your goal weight?

John, being in the spot light must put a lot of pressure on you. As a nurse, I feel less credible to my patients since I am overweight. hang in there. -
When did you feel up to exercising and how much are you doing?

deez9, I never asked how long my procedure took but I remember my husband telling me that the doctor said my anatomy was "good." I guess that meant that things went well. My doctor popped in to see me the next day to make sure I was ok and then I was discharged. Everything went so fast. My discomfort comes and goes. It usually worse after sitting or lying for a while. Funny thing is, the percocet doesn't really seem to make a lot of difference. I take it so that I can make the most of my recovery but there is always some discomfort there, usually port side. I went for a walk yesterday and braced my abdomen with a small decorative pillow, which did nicely. Anne -
Need advice from my fellow Tenacious friends!
trapped inside replied to cookielover's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Amy, I'm wondering if you think that since the weight hasn't come off over night that you think you don't deserve to wear something nice. People may not notice your weight loss for a while. Don't let that stop you from being proud of the fact that you are taking control of your health. Brush your hair and put on some lipstick. Start thinking about what you're going to wear for Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Years. Its time to be good to yourself in new healthy ways. Anne -
Banded 10/29 and feeling great!!

RJK123 Wow things really move fast for you.You were approved and banded very quickly. It sounds like your pain is well controlled. I also was banded on 10/29. I was dancing when I came home yesterday but then the pain medicine wore off. I did not sleep well. I have two dogs to take care of and they're like little kids, always getting into trouble if you're not watching them. Congratulations and keep up the good work. Anne -
Amy, my mom is overweight so you'd think she would understand. Oh well, I'm moving on. I see your goal weight is 145. I've been too afraid to set a goal. When I left the hospital yesterday, I was giddy because I was talking to a girlfriend (banded in August) about new possibilities. I still haven't set a weight goal but I would like to climb a rock wall someday or go hiking out West. Thanks for the support Anne
-
kathryn, you'll do great and you'll make your mom and yourself proud. Keep checking back. I think this site is better support than the group that the hospital has for support. Anne

My doctor told me she wouldn't do a fill for 7 weeks!
