  1. Any Northern VA WLS, open to connecting online and off?

    Any DC Metro/NoVA/MD folks

So sorry to have been out of touch for last few weeks. I had my GBP 7/7/2015 - prior to starting up with doctor I was at 300. Prior to surgery I was 258, Last weight was a few days ago and I was at 232. I can say, for the initial few weeks after surgery I was EXHAUSTED a lot. I went to work two weeks after surgery, and that first week, I felt TIRED. I'd come home and sleep for two hours to recover. Slowly rebuilt to my regular work schedule. I've done some walking but not real regular exercise yet. Sometimes forget to eat, if I eat something I'm not suppose to yet, body is quick to let me know. So far the scars are closed up. Except top one. Not sure what else to share? Any one have suggestions for best Protein, small meal ideas? That aren't too repetitive?

I didn't have to do either of those, thankfully. Just relaxing....
  4. You know, I did it anyway just because I felt like I was all out of sorts in my abdominal area, and it helped me feel better. Maybe mental, but I was moving easier.
  5. Anyone else use these to help with support post surgery? I know in some Latin American countries it is part of any abdominal surgical work, but curious if anyone here tried it?

I hear Planetary Fitness is about $10 a month, I think there is another called Retro Fitness that is about $20. I am planning to join the gym as soon as I get okayed.....but there are limited ones near me so, it'll cost at least $30 or $40 a month.

Hello all, how exciting to see responses! Does Bluepoint do their own support group? Or is this the one at Fair Oaks? I am 5 days post-op, doing okay. Not hungry but there are moments I am craving to chew or taste something. My surgeon was Dr. Fitzer and surgery took place at Fair Oaks. I started this process about August of 2013, weighing 300 pounds, I weighed myself yesterday and am at 254, still full of air and feeling blimpish What would you all like to share? Or experiences? Or questions? It feels good to share with others locally! Karaya

Not sure what facility you are going to, I went to Fair Oaks where I honestly had a great experience considering the situation. Attentive and helpful staff, good surgeon and watchful people. I had a rny GBP, with no hernia repair. And I have the six, about two inches each, incisions. Bonded with medical glue. Clear liquid diet three days pre-op, and liquid post op. I walked to the bathroom that evening, recovery was okay, a little nauseated, sore but numb, Tylenol via iv and roxycodone via mouth post op. If you have any specific questions, feel free to PM or post here.

Pain is minimal, honestly. Incision sites may be a bit irritated if they rub wrong. Or soreness if move in uncomfortable way or too quick. I was discharged without any pain medication. Gas discomfort is maybe the worst.

    RNY P.C.O.S, & Pregnacy

Thanks for starting this thread. I have been overweight for years, during my marriage (no longer married) I did not use birth control but we weren't actively trying to get pregnant, PCOS was a constant beast for me, along with insulin resistance, depression and anxiety. I had the GBP, and was told to wait two years before trying to get pregnant due to baby's health and nutrition for both of us.

    3 days post op- help

So sorry to hear, I went in on 7th had some nausea and dizziness with LBP. No catheter. I have noticed a trend and I could be ring, those with hernia repair seem to have it rougher.

    Any DC Metro/NoVA/MD folks

I had my surgery on Monday, it is Wednesday, was just discharged today. Fair Oaks staff was fantastic. Dr. Fitzer's assistant is great, Jenny. Glad to be home, bed was uncomfortable there, but that is really my only complaint. Room can be a bit cold, and may I recommend loose comfy clothes post-op the incisions rubbing against them is no fun. Also ask for a heating pad, it helps soreness.
