starting BMI over 50? come on in!
PrtyAntOvrYt replied to maziemommy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Your diet is the diet used for Gastric Bypass patients. This is one of my biggest pet peeves with some LapBand doctors. Gastric Bypass patients ARENOT LapBand patients and we shouldn't be treated as such. Bypass patients leave the hospital with restriction. We do not! I'm sorry your doctor is mistreating you. Just do as he asks, but know if you're hungry, it's normal. You don't have any restriction yet. This happens all of the time. I wish it wouldn't because it's so unfair. Hang in there! -

Welcome! It's a short consult. He will weigh you and talk about the new change in your life as far as eating and actvity. He'll explain to you what the LapBand is and how it works. It was painfree. Write down your questions and bring them with you to the appt. -

Who is up for a Red Robin night? How about January 11th? I need a big time distraction! I'm off until the 31st of January, my BF of 18 months broke up with me 5 days before Christmas - stating I am still too overweight and he can't wait any longer for me to get to goal... AND I am just devastated. Anyway, my goal for 2010 is to get to goal. My plastic surgery went extremely well. He took 19lbs off my tummy and 8 off my arms. I love my new arms. I love my flat tummy! Right now, I'm dealing with post op swelling, but I can see there is a huge difference already. Dr Sauceda is the best. He's an artist. My incisions are 24 days post op and they are healing very well. MY tummy incisions look like just a wrinkle. I am very pleased. I'm going to start using the silicone strips on Wednesday to minimize the scaring. My goal is to get to 170 and then have the rest of my plastics done. A Lowerbody lift, Butt auto augmentation, face lift, neck tightening, breast lift and augmentation and full extended thigh lift. Then any revisions I need on my arms. -

Sorry your surgery was more rough! Sounds bad. I didn't have any gas at all with my Band, but I did have the fat lip. Not bad, but it was swollen. Good luck getting through this time of recovery. Do you still have saline in your band? Try to not get dehydrated because it will make your band tighter. It always does mine. Deb, A Loss is a Loss! I am so sorry you're Mom and Dad aren't doing well. Your poor Dad has lot on his shoulders with your Mom being sick and your Mom is so special to you and there you are - with everyone on your small shoulders. You're carrying the weight of a lot of struggles right now. Be kind to yourself. -

I haven't seen St E's since the 80's. I went there as a student social worker and haven't been there since. My interview was done over the phone. The manager was so nice! I read somewhere that LGH and Bryan merged. Has that been a good thing? I remember living in Lincoln when they filmed "Terms of Endearment" -- they filmed some at LGH. Wow! I'm really dating myself here! I love Vegas. I'm not a gambler at all. Maybe a slot machine or two, but not really into losing my money. I do love the peaple watching, shopping and resturants. My daughter is studying to be a chef, so she loves to go and eat at the various places. It's fun. I've been twice since being banded and have learned that buffets are a total waste of money. We love to share a meal and that works really well. We ate at Wolfgang Pucks' place a year ago and it was so good! You'll find that most banders are on the lower BMI's. I was one of Dr. K's highest. I'm not proud of that at all. But I think that is why I had restriction almost immediately and haven't needed many adjustments. I think my stomach is so big that an unfilled band is enough! (that's just my theory!) Well, talk to you later! I'll be in Lincoln next April for my 25 year reunion from college. Maybe we can meet! -

Hey Tina! Wow! I haven't seen you here for a very long time! How are they kidlings? I bet they have really grown. I remember meeting you and the kids at the reunion bbq last summer. How have you been? It's so good to see you! I've been good. I haven't had a fill in almost a year. I'm preparing to go for the first phase of my plastic surgery in 27 days. I'm excited. I hope everything works out. I am getting a Tummy Tuck (extended) and a Brachioplasty! Don't be such a stranger!:smile2: I'm glad you're doing better. Wow! I can't imagine not having anything in my band. I hope I do as well as you. You must be very diligent to watch what you eat. how's the Nanny job going? How's hubby? I remember having such bad indigestion during my pregnancy, I felt I was dying every night. I vomited for 9 months and gained a total of 8lbs. My poor daughter! No wonder she was only 5lbs 10 oz when she was born! Once I had her, the indigestion left immediately and I was able to eat normally. I felt like was a new person! It was wonderful! I think I gained 40lbs breastfeeding AND eating! I'd love to meet you at RR. I am sad I missed Deb's trip! Take care! -

So is 20 miles north of Lincoln, about 1/3 of the way to Omaha? I've highly considered moving back to Lincoln. I have so many friends there and I'd be able to go to Physician Assistant school. I absolutely love Lincoln. When I was in school there in the 80's it cost an arm and two legs to get a flight anywhere. I imagine Omaha is much cheaper now that Southwest flies out of there. Southwest has these three day sales. They are excellent. I fly all over the place for $49.00 one way. I've become a flying fool. When I considered moving to Lincoln, I wondered if there would be a good band doctor there to do fills if I couldn't get out here to Denver. I, actually haven't needed a fill since last December. It's almost been a year. I still have restriction. Amazing! We are all so different. Each other of us has to deal with different restriction. Some it takes a long time to get restriction and others get it almost immediately post op. I got mine right away and really have needed few fills. I started at an extremely high BMI and I think that might have made the difference. I'd love to work at St E's. I've interviewed with their NICU, but then decided not to move there. You're going to love Dr. K and his office staffed. -
Panniculectomy appeal success!
PrtyAntOvrYt replied to SkinnyKathy's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
My surgeon is Dr. Sauceda, Monterrey Mexico. He's an artist. I have seen so much of his work and am extremely impressed. I was quoted here in Denver for a panni and arm job $14K. That's at a surgicenter, which I can't do because I have a family history of Malignant Hyperthermia. Dr. Sauceda doesn't use general anesthesia, which I prefer. I can give you his information when you're ready. I am going to him mostly because of his skill and also because of the price. I'll send you my before and afters and you can decide if you want to go with him. I bet you make a very hot little witch! Sounds like a hot little costume! -

Actually, my surgeon says he'll do an extended tummy tuck for me. But he says that I'll need a revision after I get to goal. I am okay with that. In my mind, it's just to get the lower stomach removed. I'm also having my arms done. My arms are over 30 inches around. The more I lose, the bigger they get from the hanging skin. My insurance absolutely will not cover anything plastic surgery related, regardless if I have horrible rashes and severe backaches. I have tried, but there is no way. I found a surgeon who will do both my extended TT and my brachioplasty for less than $9K. I have several friends who have had plastics in the last couple of months and what you describe is what they are dealing with too. Severe swelling is very normal up to months and months post-op. I bet you will be much happier with your results after all your swelling is gone. Here is my email address: Sljjsd@yahoo.com. I am willing to send you my before pics when I take them. Thanks Kathy!!! take care, dee~ -

You will never be butting into the conversation! Everyone is welcome! WE love new people! Come over and ask any question you might have! There are some really nice people over there! I love Lincoln. I graduated from the university there in 1985! It's one of my most favorite places. I've considered moving there and wondered if there would be a place for fills. Have you called that center? I hope things work out so that you can have your surgery with Dr K. He's the best and his office staff is just wonderful! My insurance had total exclusion of the Lapband but would have readily paid for the Bypass. I used the money I got from my divorce settlement. It was worth every penny! Take care Kim!!! -

Hi FutureSkinnyKathy! You're one of the first people I've seen who has had the Panni removal before getting to goal. I am having mine removed on 12/2. I've just started really stressing about it. I have about 70lbs to go before I reach goal. I've lost over 160lbs. I get afraid that I may look like you feared and that makes me wonder if I should wait. I'm paying cash for my surgery. I need it because I have so many problems with my back. Now that you're several weeks post-op. How do you feel about your decision? Are you still please? Do you have pictures posted anywhere here on LBT or anywhere else? Would you mind sharing them with me? It's so hard to find someone in the same situation as I am. Thanks for sharing your story with all of us! -

HI! I know Deb, another Dr K patient has flown into Denver from Oregon in the am, had a fill and then flown home. I've picked her up at the airport and then we have lunch and I take her back. I've done that for several of his patients. We are a pretty tight group. I used to meet pre-op's who have come alone and picked them up from the surgicenter. Others have come and taken the shuttle to Dr. K's and then shuttled back to the airport in the same day. I know they've said it makes for a really long day, but it seems to work. I think it is an excellent idea to stay overnight for your first fill or two. It's also a good idea to have a follow-up doc in your town. Things can happen that can cause you to need immediate attention and few ER's are comfortable unfilling a band. Once you're banded be so careful to never take any of your pills whole. This is something that can be a cause for an immediate unfill. Dr. K has a big sign in his lobby reminding his patients to not take any meds whole. Please feel free to post on the Considering Dr. K's forum. It hasn't been too busy there lately. -

I'm always that way when I'm PMS'g. It's tough! I know how bad it is to overeat so I try to force myself to listen to my softstop. You can really damage your stomach from over packing that upper pouch. I remind myself of that and it helps. Lately, I've found sipping water all day helps during that time. We, females with our hormone shifts have to deal with stuff men never have to! It's not fair! -

I am excited! My friend just had her surgery a week ago last Thursday and she looks absolutely gorgeous! He is truly an artist when it comes to plastics! I'm busy with getting everything in order for my Short Term Disability payments and my FMLA -- lots to do and I just can't hop in the car and run down to his office to get papers signed! Makes it a little more of a challenge! But I believe it's worth it! -

Thanks Mal! I'll check it out! I'd love to run the 5K next year. I walked it again this year! I was alone, so it was a good time to reflect on my loved ones I lost to Breast CA. I'm leaving for NY in the morning to see my daughter! 50 days to my surgery. I got my FMLA papers mailed to my surgeon and set up for my short term disability to start n 12/1/09. It's becoming real to me! I'm more excited than scared at this point! I'm sure they might change as the time draws near! It's so good to see you again! Love, dee~ -

I'm not sure if it will be bad. We were bad for a few days, but it's warming up tomorrow and will be warm for the rest of the week. Colorado is strange that way, Deb. My friend just had her surgery with my surgeon and she looks absolutely amazing! He lipo'd her chin and she looks 20 years younger! Her body looks like an 18 y/o. I hope I have decent results. I know my situation is much different than hers. Fifty days tomorrow - until my surgery! How is your Mom? -

I'd love to start doing something like that. Where do I find information on it. I checked online - is it something I need to buy? DVD's? -

Please remove my name from your list. If I'm interested in another challenge, I can always do one at Obesity Help. They have challenges all of the time and they do them the old way. Thanks!!! -

Unfortunately, I'll be working on Wednesday. I hope you can get a group together. That would be nice! BTW, I lost 6.2 lbs this week! Total loss since the challenge started is 10.2. Congrats! I bet that feels wonderful!!! I hope you have a wonderful Reunion! I'm glad your Mom is finally over the fever portion of the infection. Enjoy your anniversary time in Provincetown. I am feeling much better physically. However, my moods are a different story.
