  1. Please don't be scared, it's me! I needed to mix things up a little! Well, I lost another 3.6 lbs this morning. I am hoping to lose more tomorrow. I am watching my fat intake today! Back on track, am I! I've got to get this poundage off! For me the real NSV will be when I don't have so many problems with Water weight. Then and only then will I know I have reached a good place! Adork, I'm sorry you're having a hard time! Use all in your power to talk that doctor into giving you that gallbladder test! It's very important that you are able to rule it out. Then you're right, you can move forward. Have you had any more problems? Shelbi, I think your labs are almost identical to mine. I have started eating steel cut oats to increase my HDL's. I've cut down the red meat to decrease the LDLs. But yours are so close to being wnl. My doc wants mine under 70 due to my pre-diabetic state. If your fastings are always good, an A1C isn't needed. You can get that test -- if you want a baseline, but I doubt if it will be a problem. Did you get liver studies done and a microalbumin? Due to our Protein intake I asked for a BUN and Creatine and a Microalbumin. I just wanted to check on my kidney fnx. My ex eats Steel Cut oats every day of his life and his Tg are 40 and his LDL's are 50's. It's amazing because his other intake is not so good. Mal and Nic, thanks for saying such nice things about me! I think everyone was beautiful in that picture! I had such a good time that evening!
  2. (John David) There's a troubled wind a blowin' through my crazy life I feel the chill begin, it's gonna be a long, long, long night I hear the thunder roll but I don't fear the lightning strike 'Cause deep inside I know I'm gonna make it through alright So let the walls come tumblin' down Bring on the last sunset I ain't moving to heartbreak town The party ain't over yet Yeah, let the devil do his worst But don't take any bets That life has finally quenched my thirst The party ain't over yet Not yet Every drop of rain that ever fell into my life Helps me ride this pain, they were a blessin' In disguise And I know in time this'll soon be yesterday Nothin' I can't climb, I've got the will to find the way So let the walls come tumblin' down Bring on the last sunset I ain't moving to heartbreak town The party ain't over yet Yeah, let the devil do his worst But don't take any bets That life has finally quenched my thirst The party ain't over yet Not yet So when the morning comes I'll do more than just survive I'll walk into the sun and live until I die So let the walls come tumblin' down Bring on the last sunset I ain't moving to heartbreak town The party ain't over yet Yeah, let the devil do his worst But don't take any bets That life has finally quenched my thirst The party ain't over yet Not yet Hey, hey, the party ain't over yet No, no, the party ain't over yet Performed by Patty Loveless, one of my most favorite artists!!!
  3. I found this on another WLS board and I loved it! I hope others find it helpful! Strategy is Stronger than Willpower. The winners at weight control do not have more willpower than those who fail - they have more strategies. These are the strategies that I have learned from the winners Think Historically, Not Calorically. If you just think calorically, you will probably fail. It's not just how many calories in a cookie or a candy, but how many or how much of this food do you typically eat. Always ask yourself, not just about the calories, but what is my history with this food? and you will not find yourself among the millions of dieters who gain back the same weight again and again with the same foods. The problem may be in the food, not in you. Certain foods affect the neurochemistry of the brain and actually trigger cravings and appetite especially in those who are genetically sensitive to such foods. Knowing this scientific fact helps you to understand. It may not be your lack of willpower or character, but your hypersensitivity to the taste or texture of a certain food which is actually creating losses of control and excess eating. Remember the potato chip commercial - "we bet you can't have just one"? Structure Gives Control. The structure of 3 meals and 2 to 3 Snacks a day promotes metabolic efficiency and helps with cravings and going longer than 3-4 hours without a healthy snack or meal promotes cravings, hunger and failure. Separate Mood from Food. Sometimes eating is not about food. You can lose all the weight in the world but, if the next time you get upset you turn to food, your success at weight control will be temporary. Take control of your favorite foods. To succeed at a diet does not mean you have to give up your favorite foods but, if you have a long history of overeating them, you need new strategies to take control of them rather than letting them continue to control you. The slips should teach you, not defeat you. Thin is a life-management skill. It is not about being "good" or "bad" It is about learning what works. Part of any learning process involves making mistakes. This Commandment teaches you how to learn from those mistakes and never again to make the greatest mistake of all - saying "I blew it" and giving up. Stop feeling deprived. Dieting has always been associated with deprivation. This commandment teaches you how to overcome that feeling and to fully appreciate that in the end it is not about deprivation but about liberation. The greatest deprivation of all is to spend a lifetime of being heavy when you could have easily succeeded with strategies that could have worked for you Treat your calories like dollars. This commandment deals with the truth that our bodies have a budget like our checkbook. It teaches us the insider tips and foods that allow you to stretch your calorie budget so you can eat more and weigh less. Losing weight is half the job. Keeping it off is the other half. If you're 30 or 40 or 50 or 60 and lose weight today how do you keep this weight off for the decades to come? This concerns maintenance and the strategies that work best to keep it off for a lifetime without cravings or deprivation. It's about living in the world of food as a thin person.
  4. Thanks! I feel so good now! It's amazing and people are finally noticing -- people who didn't know I had the surgery done! It took about 70lb loss before anyone noticed!
  5. Thanks Munchkin! I'm try to find it! Zesty Italian, sounds yummy!
  6. I love Ranch and Miracle Whip! I could put Ranch on everything! I found a Ranch I loved, Kraft Done Light -- BUT they don't make it anymore! I can't find it anywhere! I will try the other lower versions of dressings. I need to get my palate used to vinegar and oil dressings! Darn it!
  7. thanks Mini! I am going to give it all I've got! This would be such a boost for me! Can you imagine, I'll be 1/3 of the way to my goal! I need that boost! And I've got to get rid of the Ranch Dressing like Woofay! The evil creamy tasty ranch dressing! It's just the devil! That and Doritos!
  8. Wow! That's great! I have two friends who are going to be banded by him too! They have been just waiting to see how I do! Well, I think I'm going to try something now! I really want to hit the 100lbs mark by my 6-month bandiversary. Which is in 24 days! So I've noticed that my percentage of fat intake is still higher than it should be -- around 40-45% of total calories come from fat! ARGH! Carbs, I'm hitting about 20% and Protein about 40%. So I'm going to really watch my fat intake and cut it down to less than 30% If I give myself a specific time frame to do it, I think I can stick to the plan! I hope! I think I can, I think I can! I hope I can! I love www.fitday.com. It really keeps me aware of what I'm putting in my pie hole! Or former pie hole!
  9. Thanks Mini! That's nice of you to say! You wouldn't believe this! This morning when I weighed I had lost 6.6 lbs, then I just weighed now and I've lost another 3 lbs!!!! I have been voiding all day! I ate absolutely NO sodium yesterday! These ankles are the worst! I can't imagine they held that much extra fluid! I can't wait to see what I weigh in the morning! Just unbelieveable! I had to check my BP - just to make sure it wasn't going to bottom out on me!
  10. Mini, I gained 8 lbs after surgery! It was depressing! BUT then it all came off - your body is trying to heal itself.
  11. Bookholder! I'm so sorry to hear about your problem! I hope that everything is fine! I know before my last fill, I felt the same way! I felt like I had absolutely no restriction and it happened just overnight. But then after my fill, I was okay. I hope there is nothing wrong with your band and you'll be fine. Stay Strong and Hopeful! AND please don't be too depressed to come here! We love you and we only want the best for you! You're part of us, Dear! love, dee~
  12. Thanks Sister Munchkin! At this point, I'd be happy with a Morsel! The hunks can hang out with you and the other Naughty Nurses! I just fell in love with Hannah! She is so cute! She pretended she was the waitress and I ordered some Doritos. She said they didn't have doritos! I told her, "what kind of a resturant doesn't have doritos?" She smiled and said proudly, "Mine!"
  13. Thanks!! That's so sweet of you to say!!!
  14. here you go Deb... Mini preop dinner 1.bmp
  15. If I remember correctly AND I might not be! But I think it was $2.85. I know the Isopure I bought that day was $3.99. I returned to the Band wagon this week and I think it's helped a lot. Actually, I just returned to measuring everything (i do well with that for weeks and then stop for not reason!) and only eating when I'm hungry. Nothing after 7pm, no simple sugars. I really want to lose 20lbs by my 6 month Bandiversary! Which I know is probably very unrealistic, BUT I'm going to try. I've lost 14lbs in 6 weeks. I just have to kick up my cycling and get back on that Bandwagon!
  16. Hey Don't Call Me a Lady! I'm too young for that! Anyway, you got a Dietician and an RN on the case - so that's why we have our assessment hats on. Glad you had a popsicle! I remember my first half of a popsicle after surgery in the hospital, it was so good - I asked for a second half and I thought I had over eaten at Thanksgiving! Yikes! Who would have thought one full popsicle would have done that!?
  17. And it seems the poor girl didn't have an anti-nausea suppositories or that new stuff he gives for under the tongue. I get mine from the Aspen Grove GNC on Santa Fe and Mineral.
  18. Good to hear things are better Anita! Yup! I loved those Protein shots, so I bought some more and shared with Mini-girl. I hope that isn't what made her tummy upset! I had them refrigerated the entire time, since purchasing them! Thanks for the compliment. I'm still struggling with my appearance. I feel so much better than I look. When I see myself in a mirror or something I get so depressed! I do think that picture looks good, but it's because Brandy and Mini are hiding most of Dee! See you Honeybunny! dee~
  19. Mini! My Dear! I am so sorry to hear about your troubles! I bet poor hubby was beside himself! Do you think it was just something that happened because of all the activity, the surgery and having to travel? I hope you are on the mend now and remain feeling well! A big hug for my Mini! love, dee~
  20. In figuring out my weight loss for the challenge, I realized that I am down 14.6lbs since it started. But the way I figure it weekly, it doesn't appear that way. I know what I weighed on the 24th of May -- that was the start of challenge and I know what I weigh today and it's 14.6lbs less. I guess, what I was doing wrong was -- I keep that starting weight in my head and I wouldn't count a loss -- if I had gained and then lost only what I gained... I only counted a loss if I actually was able to move my ticker. Meaning did I actually decrease that first weigh in amount. Is anyone else doing it that way? What's up with my thinking? I'm such a goof!
  21. Congrats on your loss! I have you down for 9.1 lbs total too! I am down 6.6 lbs this week! It's the Water weight! I am thrilled!

Welcome Lotza! Congrats on your upcoming banding! Do you live in the Denver area? We meet once at month at Red Robins for a little very personal support group. It's just some of Dr. K's local bandsters who have met via this site. If you're ever in the area and we're meeting! Come on over! dee~ p.s. I started this thread only because of the problems I was having getting on the other one. Post at either one! I'm hoping this thread helps others who are thinking about Dr. K as their surgeon!
