Thanks Munchy! I'm glad to hear you lost. I felt bad about that stupid med making you gain! As we both know meds are evil and they alter our bodies in very bad ways! I am sad you can't come with your supervisor when she gets her band! If I am available, I'd love to help her any way, I can. Just let me know and you can access the bat list for my digits! I adore you Girl and I always look for your posts. We've bonded in an odd bird kinda way! Love, dee~ -

Adork! That's my sign of a good fill. I had that the first time and it lasted for about two months. Then I had the it second time and it only lasted about 3 weeks. Now, I get it when I'm on my period. Natalie and I talked about it. Do you feel it when you have your food in the upper pouch and you drink something an hour or a half after you've eaten? That's when it would happen to me. I could eat and everthing went down fine. I'd wait my hour to drink... drink and it would sit there in the back of my throat for hours, sometimes 4 hours and then it would slowly lessen. She said it meant I had very good restriction. -

Fatwidow! I totally agree with Munchkin! She's very correct when it comes to the Gastric Bypass. There is a 2 year window of loss with that surgery and then the malabsorption lessens and their much smaller stomach has stretched out. I have a friend who had the bypass about 10 years ago. She is bigger than she was when she had it done and now she's getting a Lap Band over her formerly very small stomach. Poor thing! Secondly, you can't rely on how other people lose or don't lose. Everyone is very different. WE have to remember not to compare ourselves with others. I have a friend from the springs and she had the band done in September. She's lost over 160lbs. She looks great and is about 2 lbs under goal! In 9 months she reached goal with the BAND! Such an inspiration! AND the best part is that she looks 20 years younger! -

Here are the charges for my recent blood tests: CBC with differential/platelet -- 37.00 Basic Metabolic Panel (8) -- 42.00 Hepatic Function Panel (7) -- 41.00 Lipid Panel -- 87.00 Hemoglobin A1c -- 74.00 As you can see they aren't that expensive. The Basic Metabolic Panel has your electrolytes in it. So that is where you'll get your potassium results. Sorry, if someone already answered this for you. I'm just now trying to catch up with everyone's posts! I've been working the last 3 days. -

I just read this! I am so sorry Brandy. How scary! I read that he's doing better now? Is that still true? I hope he continues to a full recovery. Did he have a genetic link to heart disease? Poor guy! Being so healthy and fit and having an MI. At least when we are out of shape, we can see how something like that can happen, but when someone is taking the time to care for their health... I think they deserve to remain healthy. -

Munchkin, Did you check with your medical insurance? I have TMJ and had to get a night guard. My medical insurance paid for it. I posted this very long response to your question about going to days! I worked nights for over 10 years and am now on days. I loved nights and I loved the money, but when I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes and I saw the rates of Breast Cancer for night shift nurses, I decided I better get on days. I still hate having less money and waking up so darn early and having to work with so much management hanging around, BUT I am very thankful for the "human-like" energy and feeling I have now. I think I actually look more rested now that I'm on days. I'm sure it has nothing to do with the 86.6 lbs I lost! Right? I think you made the best decision for you and that is what is important. I remained on nights because for 10 years as I was raising my small child, it was perfect for me. I could take her to school at 850am and pick her up at 1550. AND sleep during her school time.... we all do what we have to do! -

Yup, I had that same thing. It was actually the size of a extra large egg and Dr. K offered to drain it. BUT I declined -- since he said it would be absorbed eventually by my body. AND I know that draining it could cause an infection since I was entering the site. He agreed and we left it alone. I'd say it is about 90% resolved now 5.5 months later. -

Yes, you bought the right one. I eat the McCann's regular. I'll go to King Soopers and see if I can find it. thanks! I have WLS for Dummies. It has some lap band stuff in it. But Dr. K never recommended any specific book to me. -

Hey Girl! Isopure is a clear protein drink you can get at GNC. I drank it on my first day home from the hospital, poured it over crushed ice with a little cranjuice splenda in it. I only like a few of the flavors. Munchkin has an entire case! Some don't like them. I prefered them to the thick ones! To get a ticker, go to Tickerfactory - build your ticker and then come back here and go to your edit signature option - copy and paste the actual ticker, not the code to the signature box. It should work! Good Luck! -

Well, I saw your ticker moving in the right direction! You know Shelbi was punished severly last time she was so naughty on the bench. She spent a long time on the naughty chair thinking about her bad behavior. -

I'm glad you're feeling better! Good! I know that Mayo doesn't have carbs and most blue cheese dressings do not. Some ranch doesn't also. Just check the label. Ketchup has lots of carbs, but mustard doesn't. I prefer Miracle Whip, but changed to Mayo during that time. -

Mal! Did you say you got some instant steel cut oats? I have been busy lately and don't want to end up not eating my oats if I haven't cooked it the night before. Can you tell me the brand of your instant steel cuts? Thanks!!! -

Congrats on that weight loss! I lost 17 the first time and 13 the second... unfortunately I had already gained the 17 back plus more before I lost the 13! It was a vicious cycle back in the pre-bandito life of mine! -

Great Post Green! Popcorn is 100% carbs... so I'd say don't eat it during your preop diet. I have eaten popcorn several times since being banded. I get the Smart Pop and have the single serving as a snack. I call it a slider food for me. It's like chips. I eat one kernel at a time and chew it at least 30 times. It goes down, probably too well for me. I also do no gum - for fear of swallowing it and it gives me gas! I also do no straws due to the gas, but Dr. K didn't tell me not to, I read it somewhere else. I never miss my Diet Pepsi until my daughter is drinking it and I smell it! I do drink Joint Juice that is has a little fizz, but I open it in the morning and pour it over ice and then don't drink it until after dinner. It's totally flat by then and diluted by the melted ice. Have a good day My Green Sister! -

Yup! You got it Girlfriend! That salad of yours looked so good! I hate to get salads out when I'm by myself or the only one eating it because I don't eat much of it and it isn't good the next day, BUT they are great to share with my daughter! I had to do the pre-op diet twice! The first time was over Thanksgiving. I was at work -- happy to be there and my friend brought me a turkey leg her husband had smoked! That was my lunch the next day and it was so good! I never felt hungry -- I felt exhausted like I wanted to sleep constantly for about 5 days, but then I was okay. The second time I did the diet (both times for 14 days each) it was two weeks after Christmas. Hmmm, know you have me thinking about that salad of yours! -

Pardon me, but why didn't you have a big salad? You can have all the veggies you want except for the potatoes! Anyone else, please correct me if I'm wrong. But I lived on huge salads with every veggie available! Squash, tomatoes, cheese, tuna, sunflower seeds, onions, celery, bell peppers... it's all good. You don't have to sacrifice the veggies. Paula told me I could have all the veggies I wanted except for the Potatoes. And believe me Lotza, it is totally worth it! But you have to find the stuff you can eat and eat those things. Don't be hungry, don't allow yourself to sacrifice. The pre-op is not a difficult diet to follow. Truly. You can do this! AND after the post-op period it gets much easier! -

Hi Fatwidow! What time is your surgery? I'll need to give you my name and phone number for you to list it on the pre-op form. Also I'll need your real name so I won't look like a freak asking if I can pick up, "Fatwidow" About being hungry. There is no limit to what you can eat now, just the NO carbs rule. Drinking the Atkins shake is not going to keep you satiated. After banding it will before, it won't. I'd focus on eating solid proteins and veggies rather than drinking the shakes. That's just my opinion... plus there will be plenty of time to drink protein shakes after your surgery. Enjoy those good salads, a nice steak or some of those crunchy pork rinds. I actually loved being able to eat any kind of omelet I wanted! After your banded and through the post-op diet, you can return to your good carbs. I'm not sure about the plane regulations and checking liquids, but maybe you can buy some things here. Like gatorade, Isopure clear protein drinks or the Special k drinks. There is a Super Target, Walmart and Walgreens not far from the hospital. Also there is a Target pretty close to your hotel. Good Luck! Your day is almost here! AND we are scooting over on the bench to make room for all the new Banditos! BTW, are you renting a car? AND we are meeting at the Red Robin on the 16th. It's actually also very close to your hotel! See you soon! hugs, dee~ -

I loved me some hotdogs! I would get one at Cost Co -- without the bun and dip it in mustard! Yummy! I also ate some nuts, like pecans and walnuts. They are low carbs. I love cottage cheese with a little salt and pepper and hot sauce on it. Remember it took me about 5 days before I was back to my normal energy girl? It will cause you to feel exhausted for the first 4-5 days if you've really cut all carbs out of your diet. Anita, you told me several times that was normal and for me to just hang on and it would improve and it did!
