  1. Hey Honey Bunny Bookholder Girl! Are you going to be at Red Robin tomorrow night? Lifesaver and Mal and Denver and Me OH MY! ARE going to be there!
  2. Wow Greenie! I think you're a Private Investigator! I didn't even figure that one out. But you're right. If you go back and check on her other posts you'll see this has been the theme. If we're wrong, I apologize, but the evidence is overwhelming.
  3. I find it interesting that you made that decision in such a short amount of time. Let me tell you something about Dr. K. He has saved my life and the lives of many many other obese people. True, his office is old, out dated and not all that attractive, BUT look at the surroundings. He's at the Medical Center of Aurora Professional building. It's a old building! The hospital was the same. I used to work there. As far as I remember, the placement of my band was in not done in his office, it was done in an OR. The appearance of his office really had nothing to do with the surgery I received. I've been an RN for almost 20 years and I know from experience that not every pre-op test is necessary. Absolutely not. Many doctors don't use critical thinking pathways. They don't stop and consider things before they order tests on their patients. They order them because that's what everyone else does. I don't appreciate being the patient of those kinds of doctors. Dr. K thinks before he acts. He does what is vital and necessary for a safe outcome and avoids things that aren't necessary. I appreciate that. Several times, I have had to wait a while in his office. This happens with most physicians. I worked in a very busy pediatric's office. I had to double and triple book patients. When a patient needs to get in to see their doctors, you have to do what you have to do and patients who valuable seeing their physician, don't worry about waiting a little bit. I don't. Lastly, I'm not sure about the unshaven look you speak of. I've never witnessed that. I have only seen Dr. K as a talented, caring, self sacrificing medical professional. Good luck with your band placement with Dr. Synder. I have several friends who have him as their surgeon. One is very unhappy and has only lost 32 lbs in a over a year. She's had several fills and unfills. I hope things go well for you. It's not an easy tool to work, but it's totally doable - if your head is in the right place, you're willing to do the work and you have a surgeon who is skilled, intelligent and caring! I am extremely thrilled with the service I've received from Dr. K, His PA - Tom, Natalie, Mary and Marilyn. They are a good group of people. I had a very difficult situation and they were there for me from the first day! Dr. K bent over backwards for me to get my surgery. I'm not sure, any other doctor would have done the same. Thanks for posting!
  4. Denver, We try to get there just before 7pm... I'll try to not be late. BUT usually those who get there before the others sit on the bench by the hostess area. I'll be there waiting! I met everyone there in October before my first schedule surgery! They had already sat down and the hostess asked who I was there to see! I had no idea anyone's "real names" and I had no idea what anyone looked like. Mal, Michelle and Mare were there! Mare some this lost fat girl and she came and rescued me! I also eat 1 cup of food each meal and nothing between meals until I'm hungry and then it's a piece of fruit. When I eat at RR, I usually eat less than half my meal. I save the rest for later! YUM!!
  5. I love the bunless burger with the lettuce wrap! It's really good and I make it exactly like a real burger with mustard and ketchup. Yum!!! I do the 1 cup test also to see if I need a fill. IF I'm able to remain satiated on 1 cup of food for 4 hours or more, then I am pretty sure I am still in the green zone. When I start getting hungry earlier than 4 hours, I know it's time to get a fill. I've been working really hard to not eat after 4pm. I know that I usually do so well during the day. Then I get home, I'm starving and I eat things I shouldn't be eating. So I have now started - for over a week, to stop eating at 4pm. I take a dinner meal to work with my lunch and I eat that at 330. I need to make it a habit. Three weeks and it should be something I do forever! I wish I had fresh blueberries! They are so good for you!!! I love them on my oatmeal in the morning with almonds or pecans! YUM!!! Well, Gang, tomorrow I'm starting my 21 day Detox eating plan. It's totally vegan, no gluten, no sugar, or white stuff -- white flour, white rice, white pasta. Maybe someone can explain to me why they require no gluten. I haven't figured that one out yet. Is it to decrease inflammation? Good to see your post Marcy! I know how it is to get a little jealous of another's WLS choice! My friend who had VSG last September is down over 250lbs. It's fast! I'd be almost at goal if I had done that! BUT I'm happy with my band, slow and steady wins the race AND I'm learning so much about me! Take Care Our Alaska Sister! dee~
  6. Bella, Shelbi had the same problem. I told her to try really hard to chew eat bite 30 times. Stop and count each time you chew, when you get to 30 then swallow and count to 9 before taking the next very small bite. I would also be careful with things that are a little more sticky or gummy, ie. pasta. Is your fill on this Wednesday? See how it goes tomorrow. Good Luck!!
  7. Dork, Put me down for a 6lb loss! I only have 8.8lbs to make my 20 lbs goal!
  8. Hey Lady! Does that mean you got a date???
  9. Many people have trouble with bread, esp. soft white buns. I am however, able to eat a quarter of a burger, if I want. BUT I always choose the same thing at RR. The Ensenada Chicken Platter. Two lean, grilled chicken breasts, and a salad. I get it without the Tortilla chips on top and with the Fat Free Ranch dressing. They also have French Onion soup that a lot of Banders get. Or the burger in a lettuce wrap instead of a bun. Your burger with the fried egg sounds great! I'd love that!
  10. Okay Ms Mal Let's do Wednesday! August 27th, Red Robin @ Arapahoe & I-25. AT 7pm! Anyone, Everyone Join US!!
  11. Deb! Did you know that Dr. K went on the pre-op diet too!? When we were at the Reunion, he told us that he went on the Pre-op diet and had already lost 9lbs! How cute is that?
  12. My BFF PB's with Salmon too! She said she thinks it's too splintery (I know that is not a real word!) She had to give it up! Did you prepare it in a moist way? Try it with some type of dressing. Sorry to hear this! Oh BTW, how could someone (namely Munchkin!) NOT love Barry Manilow??? Is she insane?
  13. NO! Please don't disown me! I love Barry, but not if it means you'll disown me! I can be a closet Fanilow! Yes! AND we are even eating less than 400 calories together! It sucks! I do believe it was stress induced! My throat and band just closed right up! Due to that huge lump in my throat! That's unfortunate that the drugs didn't alter his personality!! Well, Honey, when you get to goal, we'll have to go and buy you a Hot Sexy Red Dress!
  14. I'm at work, but I wanted to respond to your question quickly. He charges $9,950.00 - total! That's it, NO MORE! Call his office and see if he can get you scheduled! You won't regret it! #303-695-1304.
  15. I bet you wearing all black all of the time was just stunning with your blonde hair!
  16. That's so funny! I am exactly the same way! I remember lines from movies and music... songs that were playing at specific times in the background!!! Funny, huh? How is the soon to be ex doing?
  17. Honey, I do believe a lot of it might have something to do with stress. Last week, when I was having my emotional breakdown, I couldn't eat a thing. I still tracked my food on www.fitday.com, and one day I ate 190 calories for the entire day. It sounds like you're in the same shoes. I do, however, hope it has something to do with stress and once you are able to relax a little, things will improve. I'm going to send you a BIG BIG BIG hug! You know I adore you Munchie-girl! I'm very sorry you're having so many stressful events in your life right now. If there is anything I can do, call!
  18. Hmmm, I loved Hall and Oats, Rick Springfield, Barry Manilow (I know, I know!) Michael Jackson, The Gap Band, Santana, Aerospeedwagon, Air Supply! I was and still am a gigantic nerd!!
  19. Welcome to the Loser's Bench Miss Deb! You know, I had to take Lipitor and Lisinipril after surgery. The nurse at the hospital gave them to me, crushed with an apple juice chaser. The Lisinipril wasn't bad at all, BUT the Lipitor was horrible! Once I was able to eat softs - I just put them in apple sauce. BUT NOW I don't have to take any meds. Try the apple juice and just go really fast! The worst for me, when when I thought I could crush my multivitamin! ARGH! It got caught in between my teeth, under my tongue and everywhere else! I thought I was going to lose it!!! One and only time, I ever did that!!!
  20. Thanks Shel! The LSD is the one that Dr. K has us do pre-operatively. There is so much dicussion about what is best for patients pre-surgery. An Optifast diet, a liquid diet, a low fat diet, or the Low Carb diet. We know the Low Carb is best at shrinking the liver. I'm going to do it for 2 weeks and track my intake and loss for the project. Then the Detox diet for 21 days. My goal, as unreasonable as it is, is to lose 200lbs by my 1- year anniversary. I may fall short, but I'm going to give it all I've got! Remember, it's a race! AND the journey doesn't really matter!!! RIGHT!!! I got fat overnight, I can lose it overnight!!! :crying::biggrin::smile::thumbup::thumbup: (did I mention that I'm delusional?)
  21. I'd love to go to a concert at Red Rocks! I bet you're a blast at a concert, Lap! I had heard that Santana was going to be at Red Rocks, but when I went to purchase the tickets, I found out he's going to be a different venue. I remember Santana when I was in high school! Every prom, every assembly!!! I also wanted to tell you, I think it's a great idea to take pictures of yourself during your journey! Before, during and after! Now that I've lost 100lbs, it is amazing to me to see my before pics. I didn't take nudes, but I took a lot of pics and the difference is finally becoming obvious. I did, however, measure everything! AND I do mean everything! I think I'm going to run up to Vail and have a plastic surgery consult for my upper arms. It's been an issue for years and just is getting worse! I could easily wear a much smaller size if it wasn't for my hideous arms! Life goes on....
  22. How was your night on the town? Did you rock? I loved what you said about the Full Moon! I know working in the Birthplace, we always feared those nights. We also feared 9 mos. post prom! Or 9 months post big winter snow storms! ARGH! Insane!
  23. Munchkin, I read your words and I remembered thinking the same thing. I'm not sure how you feel now that he's out of the house, but I remember when I packed my Camry and headed north. Just me and my 15 y/o daughter. I started my life over again, without any support. I knew not one person, I had no job, no place to live, but I knew I had to get out of that house! His actions had screamed disrespect for over 20 years. After a very very short time, I was able to breathe a sigh of relief. My ex was quite the handy man with everything. There wasn't anything he couldn't do around the house. Now, I find myself fixing the toilet, recaulking the bathtub and installing new locks on my front door. It's tough sometimes, but the stress-free life I now live is worth it all. Remember you deserve someone who is going to love you and respect you. Don't settle for less.
  24. I can do either Wednesday or Thursday. We meet at 7pm at the Red Robin at Arapahoe and I-25. Anyone else? Wednesday or Thursday, Peeps!??? Anita, Mal, Mare, Denise, Rene, Brandy, Bookholder???
