  1. I wish I had no desire! I can't think of anyting, but sex. AND working out just makes it worse!!! The sad part is men are so turned off by me!
  2. No, I just have terrible horniness! Sorry! The more I work out, the more I want -- you know what! The bone!
  3. Pardon me? Smarter? --- you do know who you're talking to, don't you?
  4. As much as I love Puff Mama, I am NOT changing her diapers! That is her DH's job! Sorry, but I have the draw the line some where! BESIDES that, I have the weakest tummy ever! I am the worst nurse when it comes to that kind of stuff. I gag when I see hair in the shower drain AND it's my hair! I'm just pathetic!
  5. I wondered about their return policy. It was The Flirt jeans. Is the Sweetheart a little fuller in the butt and thighs? I need that. I was just telling Jaime today about how trusting you were of me - you didn't know me from Jack, yet you trusted me to take you back to your hotel after your surgery. Bless your little heart, you were so cute back there in recovery -- when we met for the first time face to face.
  6. It's very frustrating being a nurse sometimes! I'm really feeling the frustration right now! A problem I've dealt with in the last 8 years has been the concept that a nurse is a nurse is a nurse! WHAT? NO! This is absolutely not true! I wouldn't want to work on an ICU unit. Not that I don't like adults, I do, but my talent is with neonates. Yet hospitals have no problem assuming if you have a nursing license, you can work with any population, any diagnosis, on any unit. The years of floating were the worst! Let's try taking a Plastic surgeon and tell him, "while you're in there doing that face lift could you also remove that brain tumor?" NOT! Everyone always respects their speciality. But why can't they respect the nurses'? Personally, I would love to be able to move from unit to unit and be completely competant, but I can't and I won't! okay, I'm getting off my soap box now! Munchi, you opened this can of worms and I just reached in!
  7. You know I've always been a one bone kind a gal too!!! One just One! You're good with the exercise, I'm good with the eating... let's just make one person out of us and we'll be successful! We could be the Sheldee~ That's great!!! I had the same thing today! I bought a pair of jeans from Old Navy online. It was during their big jean sale, $9.99 a pair. I got some really cute ones! BUT they are all huge on me!!! Yikes! Really huge! I can pull them off and on without unbuttoning them! Size 22! AND I started at size 32! Don't you love it! I can't believe you're wearing a 12! Mountain, hill, ant hill -- it's all an achievement! AND something to be proud of!! Congrats! that's a great NSV!
  8. Oh My Goodness Brandy, I am sorry you and your hubby went through so much. Poor man. Poor you! I will pray that you will find the energy and time to care for your children and your hubby. I will pray that the results will be good and he will feel better with each day. I will also pray that you will take care of yourself, rest and eat as you should to have the strength to do all that you must do to get through each day. You're such an amazing woman. You have been through so much with your children and your hubby. I have so much respect for you. I hope your tummy is feeling better. And thanks for posting. We were all very concerned. Take care My Dear Friend, Love, dee~
  9. Hey Kidlings! I thinK I did pretty well today! But the eating part is the easy part for me. I just forced myself to eat very very very (smaller than band) meals so that I could eat every 3 hours. I did have to drink a protein drink, but I only drank half - two different times. I also eat a lot of those tiny soy burgers. They have a lot of protein and they are very small. Don't take much space in your tummy. I did my arms today. It was tough. But I am hopeful it will get easier. I had my book with me. I'm sure I looked like a dummy! Thanks Life and Shelbi for posting how your day went! Tomorrow is a new day! Love ya, dee~
  10. I say go with your Mom's advice. Get a second and maybe third opinion. This is your life and you need to feel okay with the diagnosis they are giving you. We both know that medical providers can miss things. They are human. We both also know that sometimes the patient has to be their own advocate. Did I remember that you got the low profile port? Lucky you!! My friend who is at goal can feel and see her port. She's ultra skinny now and buff. She's the one who did BFL.
  11. You are so right AND I have to tell you the feeling that I have now after losing this weight, (even though I'm not near goal) is greater than any feeling I ever had driving a brand new car! AND I'm a real car snob. I love me a new car! BUT this feeling is a million times better!!!
  12. I don't think that's too bad. You do what you have to do to get healthy, right? I used Capital One check loans to purchase my Highlander from Cost Co. and it was extremely simple. Others might want to look into that. I was approved online within an hour and the check was in the mail. For my surgery, I used the monies I got from my divorce. After 22 years of marriage, I felt this was the best way to end it!
  13. thanks Deb! You're very sweet! I loved being a Diabetic Educator. It was very enjoyable. After doing NICU for so long and having patients who don't talk - (well, not like we do) it was nice having a patient who could give you feedback... even when it wasn't so positive. I always felt like I was helping them getting to know their condition and helping them gain valuable knowledge, which in turn would help them be successful of living a life free of problems. Knowledge is power. I wanted to ask if you use any of the online food logs? I use www.fitday.com and it has really opened my eyes. I use it every single day and log everything that enters my mouth. (I know I'm a nerd) I even log in my calcium chews and fiber chews. Anyway my point is this, it helps me make sure I am getting in enough calories. If you're not, you can stall and it is also possible to get in too many calories of fat without even knowing it. For example yesterday by afternoon I had eaten 52% of my calories from fat. That meant that the rest of the day had to be lean protein and veggies. It helps me adjust my intake. Like Mini said, our bodies do strange things and fluctuate a lot. I know mine does. Yesterday morning, I had lost 5.4 lbs over night, but the day before I had gained 3.2. This morning I gained another 3. It's bizarre and a good reason not to weigh everyday, BUT I can't help myself! Like I said before, I am a scale addict! Mix up your calories a little don't stay too low and make sure your fat intake isn't too high. It should remain around 30% of your total calories.
  14. Funny you should say that! You'd be surprised what can happen with "people you've met on the internet" -- there is a trust here that can't be found other places.
  15. Listen Munchi, I can hear the banjo playing... and Ned Beatty is out there somewhere!
  16. Mini-Girl, 156 is not so bad. Was that a fasting test? Doc rarely to do the GTT anymore. The ADA uses several other ways of diagnosing Type 2 DM. 1. 2 random fastings greater than 126 2. 2 random blood sugars greater than 200. (these are not fastings) 3. 2 hour Oral Glucose Tolerance Test One fasting greater than 126 doesn't mean you're diabetic. Remember that many toothpastes have a lot of glucose in them. IF I check my fasting after I've brushed my teeth, my glucose is always high - i.e. 160's. If I check prior to brushing my teeth it's 80 or less. Anything taken by mouth can affect your glucose, even if it's just meds with water - a fasting can be altered easily. Hang tight and wait and see whta the OGTT says. Weight loss makes a big difference too Mini. As you lose weight, you sugars will improve greatly. I'm glad your lytes are okay. I'm hoping things improve. I love that you're Puff Mama, but you'll always be my Puff Mama to My Heavy DD!
  17. Has anyone heard from Brandy? I've been worried about her and her DH. I hope she posts when she can, I'm sure they are pretty busy getting things settled.
  18. Don't get discouraged yet about the fills. I didn't need my first fill until 8 weeks post op and then I have only had one other. I'm 7.5 months post op and I have only had 2 fills. I know I might be an oddity, but I do have pretty good restriction and I'm losing weight pretty consistently. Tom, the PA in Dr. K's office says that every one is different when it comes to fills and restriction. My last fill was in May and I've been in the green zone since that time.
  19. Thanks Rene! I am so excited! I took my before pics this morning with my swim shorts on and my sports bra! Yikes! It was hideous! BUT I wish I had taken one of those very revealing pics before I got the band! Can you imagine? I'll post some questions later. I'm headed out the door to the pool right now! I gotta get my laps in!
  20. Don't your teeth ever feel furry after a 12 hour shift? Esp on nights! I remember that!! Maybe the nair would work for that!
  21. That's perfect or Puff Mama Heavy DD and the 80 Talking Boobies! Don't you talk to your Boobies? I do! AND I'm not too happy with them right now!!! They went south for the winter and haven't returned!!! IN College I had this really cute frog a lady from church crocheted me. He sat on my bed. My roommate used to make him do the most perverted things ever! I'd return to the room from class and find him violating himself and my other stuffed animals! She turned out to be a congresswoman for the state of NE. Go Figure! I loved that silly girl! BUT I was so embarrassed for my frog!
  22. Yes Munchi, did you find out about your boobies?
  23. BTW, Jeff sent me those flowers when I had my surgery. We sent him this picture to thank him! I forgot to tell you, sometimes my daughter will pose them doing stuff, when I get home from work, I find them on my bed, Marie reading them a story or watching TV or doing something silly. I sometimes have them going up the stairs to her room or in her shower! It's fun!
  24. I love it! You guys sound like my daughter and me! WE can't have real pets, so we have pretend ones! We have a pretend "Raptor" named "Raptee" he's really fat and wants to get a Lap Band, but he doesn't have the money, so he's working extra hours at the cafeteria at Parker Adventist Hospital. We also have all of these stuffed baby cows that we bought before I had my surgery. Actually, my daughter bought me one for when I was having surgery the first time, then the surgery fell through and she bought me another one. Then we were there on Christmas Eve and saw two more in the 99 cent basket, they were discounted because they have anomalies. Marie, she's the brilliant one, she can even read. She has a hoof missing. It's very sad. And then there is Cowie, he has an asymetrical head. Millie is the really mean one. She's really chubby. And then Charlie, he's just a sweetie, but usually ends up crying a lot because Millie is so mean. Here is a picture of them! We also have pumpkin, the cat and Piggy. We're all pretty bizzare, aren't we?
  25. That's hilarious! When I am changing a baby's diaper and they have poo in there, I always say, "Hey, who put poo in your diaper?" Then I'll say to my NNP, "Did you put poo in this diaper?" So one day, she answered back, "you did!" I replied, "hey, I have a hard enough time keeping poo out of my diaper!"
