  1. NO problem swallowing. I had a fat lip from the intubation that was kind of bothersome, but that was it. I didn't have a sore throat, but I took sucrets with me, just in case.
  2. Does your bra rub on it? Mine is about 2 inches below the bra. So I have no problem. How about anyone else?
  3. so it's Hib and not Hep! I was thinking Heparin flush -- ha!!
  4. Excellent!! Thanks Munchi! I knew I had spelled that wrong!
  5. The soap is called Hepacleanse (I'm not sure how to spell it) But you can buy it at Walgreens. I got the huge bottle and then I was given one by someone, so I have an extra if you live in town. Also Dr. K places the port slightly to the left, of mid-point, just under the bra.
  6. Oh My Goodness! You really need to talk to that person's supervisor. She should be ashamed of herself and she needs to be called on this! Want me to call? I will.
  7. My Obesity Help name is Iam_with_the_band. I found a shirt at the "Postively Jake" store with a dog on it and it says, "I am with the Band" -- Life is good!
  8. Brandy! That's great! I'm glad to hear you're walking too! Are you going to do the family walk or the 5k? I just bought the cutest hat from the gift shop... it's pink!!! DUH! I have such a huge cranium that I rarely find hats that fit! Now I'll have to fight my daughter for it!
  9. My friend's hubby asked her to marry him at a Dave Matthew's concert. He had the front row hold up a huge banner! It was really sweet!
  10. I was hoping that stupid therapist would have given me some advice or anything, but not!! He probably wasn't even listening to me! Like this morning, he's already called me 4 times AND I'm at work! Yesterday, he called about 10 times before the end of the day! I wanted to scream!!!
  11. My favorite is the New York Super Chunk!!! I love it! I get the kiddie cone when I'm at the B&J shoppe. That way I don't buy the entire pint.
  12. Thanks Mal! I hope I get to see you there too! I'd love to take our picture together! I have been looking for pink tees, a long sleeve one under my shirt would be ideal. I wanted to wear shorts, but my legs are the worst! I bought shorts the other day on sale, but I haven't been brave enough yet. My shoes are so huge now that I've lost 100lbs. It sucks! While I was in Vegas, my ex bought me a new pair of tennis shoes. Maybe they will fit. I better start wearing them, so that they aren't new for the walk. I do remember your sunglasses! You're the coolest! My grandma was such a kid at heart! I need to find something fun for her! We always put those tiny windmils on her grave on her birthday and mother's day. She loved those things! Kisses Mal!
  13. Mal, Only a little over a week left til we do our 5K. You'll be running, I'll be walking and then crawling to the finish! It's okay! It's my first, I just want to finish! Even if it's on my knees! Praying!!! Question: You've done it before, should I dress in layers? Or a long sleeve tee?
  14. You know exactly what you mean about your Mom. My Mom drives me insane sometimes. I do love her to death, but there are times when I want to scream!
  15. Sounds good Bella, but be careful making your band too tight. You do have restriction if you have ever PB'd, slimed or vomited. Also, it's a tight band that can cause problems down the road. Just be careful, you've worked too hard and spent too much to lose your band. You're one of the lucky ones to have a good fill doctor, I think that is half the battle for the out of staters!
  16. Hey girl! Sorry to hear about that fill! I hate how expensive this band business can be! I thought of you and how hard you're working with your trainer, so I got me one! I only have 5 sessions, but it will help get me on track with the weights. I'm so sore from doing the BFL lifting and meeting with my PT twice a week! ARGH! hang in there Sister! Michelle from here told me abou the ice pack and I think it worked wonders for port pain. I had a lot of pain in my port area post op for about a week, so I bought a bunch of cheap bags of frozen peas and used them - they mold easily to your tummy! Get some rest and good luck! BTW, I didn't have any gas pains either! Just a lot of port pain! Welcome to the Loser's Bench!!!
  17. Sounds good Deb! I'm glad you have restriction. I think people forget that it's a lot of us and a little of the band. You deserve the restriction! We all do!!! AND I wanted to thank you for spending the time with me the night we met. You're a very nurturing soul and I appreciate the heart felt chat we had! I heard you honking when you turned the corner - I was behind the tree, so you might not have seen me waving. Can you believe I drove over there? After parking, I realized, I should have walked! It's that old "my feet are going to hurt" mentality! I've got to change my mind to match my body!
  18. Munchi, You and I are in the same place. My divorce is final and has been for over a year, but yet, I still get those late night, been drinking, calls of regret from the ex. They really tear at my soul and I hate it. I wish I was like others when they get divorced... move on and never see or talk to the ex again. There is something to say about taking a stand. I think you have to do the same when your divorce is final, you need to be free of him and be able to find some happiness. You've worked hard to be a healthy weight and it's your time to be cherished and cared for - not abused in any way!
  19. This is a very difficult time for you. We all went through it and right now I'm dealing with a prolonged plateau - and it makes me wish I never told anyone about my surgery. So few people even recognize I lost weight and I have a feeling most of the time that if they didn't know about my surgery, they wouldn't have ever noticed. It's frustrating. I do want to say, that I loved your lipstick the other evening. I wanted to mention it and didn't get a chance. So pretty!
  20. I think you should go with the one that looks the best on you. If grey isn't your color, I think you should go with the more expensive one. Do you think there would be any other occasional to wear it? Even if not, sometimes we have to just say, "WTH" or whatever and go with the best! I say, you work hard for your money, you deserve something nice! Those people are scary! I have to wonder what is wrong with them! Maybe you should ask the attorney if you do some kind of mediation. I know that would truly suck being in the same room with them, but if it would work to avoid court it might be worth it!
  21. Yeah, this prolonged PMS without the M is really getting old! AND my weight won't move! I think the best for you is to sit and talk to your doctor about things. Ask him if he'll let you start Metformin. Let us know what he says. Wow! Size 8!!! You are such a success story! Congrats!!! Doesn't that feel good? I love when that happens! I have a pair of jeans I've been avoiding! I might need to try them!! You're so sweet! Thanks! My double chin is still here, but I think it's getting a little smaller! It's true! You do look amazing! Thanks Sister! BUT I have a feeling that your weight loss has really affected your vision! HA!
  22. Deb (sitting) Dee and Denvergirl at Atlanta Bread Company. It was so nice meeting Deb! She's a Sweetpea! We had a great little dinner! Soup and sandwiches!
  23. Many times hypoglycemia is a precursor to Type 2. I watched my blood sugars get higher and higher before starting the metformin. And then I started it and they stabilized pretty well. After surgery, I was hitting 40's so I stopped taking it. I really miss not ovulating now. I need to figure out a way to get back on it and not have lows. I can't handle these 3 week PMS events. I am thinking you possibly could have converted just prior to surgery and the numbers you're seeing now are much improved. We won't ever know, however, I agree that the surgery is going to make things much better for you. If you had converted, you probably had just converted prior to surgery. I'm not sure why the ADA recommends not doing the OGTT now. I agree, it is really the only way of obtaining the true values. I dealt with this problem daily as a DM Case Manager and there were patients who got angry with their diagnosis and demand OGTT's. I totally agreed with them.
  24. I'm wondering if your sugars were much higher before your surgery. Is it possible that you had already converted to Type 2 without knowing it? When was the last time you had an OGTT? Just a thought, Mini. The Metformin will help get things in order for you. They say it doesn't cause you have have lows, but it could, so just keep an eye on your values. I had patients who hit some lows while on it.
  25. My doctor is very "pro-meds" I hate that about him, but I did agree with the introduction of metformin. I have confess, he wanted me on 1000mg twice a day, but I refused and took 500mg twice a day. My problem however turned out to be my fastings and never my 2 hour postprandial. So I just took 1000mg at bedtime and my fastings were always less than 100. If I ate a meal of carbs without protein at all, i.e. white pasta with veggies, the highest my sugar would be was 170's. I remember once making these turkey meatballs from scratch with sage and rosemary. I checked my sugar 2 hours pp and it was 400 and I freaked. I then realized I hadn't washed my hands well. I washed my hands and rechecked and it was 98. The oils from the sage and rosemary was still on my hands! ANYWAY, I think metformin is good. I took it for my PCOS - and my blood sugars. Sometimes I think I need to get on it again because I am not ovulating. I have had PMS for almost 3 weeks and I am sick of it! I say, start the metformin and check your blood sugars regularly. Esp. check your fasting everyday and at least one 2 hour pp. My fave was the key lime cheesecake. Honestly, however, I am not a dessert person. I am a carb girl - i.e. bread! rice! pasta! potatoes! I could easily give up the cheesecakes and ice creams. I remember that episode. She was babysitting Miranda's little guy. AND she had to buy a new vib. It was actually a personal massager. Do you remember how big it was? AND how when she was in the store all the other ladies were asking her opinion? That happened to me at Fascinations. I was there and I had three ladies ask me for my opinion. Anyway, when Miranda came home and found that huge vib in the bouncer chair, she said, "that better be new!" I say go with the one you'll feel most comfortable wearing. Its' true you can always tape the girls up and out! My friend does it all of the time! Thanks so much for posting this. I couldn't remember the time, we agreed upon. ALSO, I'd love to go to a holiday get together/potluck at your house! How sweet of you to open your home like that! Hey Lifesaver! How's BFL going? AND how was your free day? AND your hike? Thanks Brandy for letting me know about your port. After working out with the weights I felt some strange feelings - but of course it's probably my muscles thinking, "what the heck?" "this is new!" Love ya, dee~
