What happened to going through Madigan? Are you completely opposed to going to Mexico? Mexico has a Bariatric Center Of Excellence, no different then one in the States.

Anybody have a leak with their sleeve?

How long ago was your surgery? The "Gastric Sleeve Complications Support Group" has a bunch of threads about leaks. Maybe that will help answer some of your questions. -

Yay! Be safe and good luck!!! -
Wear an abdominal binder or some type of shape wear like Spanx. Avoid constipation at all costs so that you aren't straining with BMs, which would cause more pain. Those two things should help. Btw, did they tell you what type of hernias you have? Some bariatric surgeons will only repair hiatal hernias when a VSG is done, and then refer you to a general surgeon for ventral or inguinal hernia repairs.

Abuse of wls..when it's not needed
BitterSweet* replied to Momma_D's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@Momma_D, use your worrisome nature for other causes. Homeless people; rape crisis centers; the AIDS crisis in Sub-Saharan Africa; tutor children after school; volunteer in your community; women's shelter......you get the point. Having this much concern about obese people on your daughter's job is just doing the most. Focus all of that energy into more worthwhile causes; this isn't one of them. People are going to be people no matter what you do or say. There will always be people who abuse and misuse things in this world. I saw someone double dipping at work the other day. Didn't phase me in the least. I also saw a dear friend and coworker get fired for diverting drugs at work. There's nothing I can do about the sh!tt% decisions other people make, even if it makes things harder on me or other folks. Let people live their lives and make their own decisions. You never know what path other people have walked, and those who you feel have abused WLS have to deal with the repercussions, not you. Not you. Let this go and concentrate on restoring your own health and wellness. -
Severe pain and numbness in the feet and legs and thighs and hands after VSG ?
BitterSweet* replied to phantompouch's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The immediate answer is go to the emergency room and contact your surgeon. The short answer is you need a full body MRI. There could be any number of reasons for the symptoms you're having. Your spine needs to be checked and you need blood work done. Radiculopathy can cause the symptoms you're describing so they need to figure out what's going on with your spine. Let us know what happens. -

Already Thinking About Plastic Surgery
BitterSweet* replied to MyssJones's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The best way to get an answer to your question is to attend free plastic surgery consultations. Don't ever pay for one, but start researching while you are saving money and losing weight. The surgeons really need to palpate your fat and skin to determine the density of fat you have in your problematic areas, and the reputable ones will give you an honest opinion about how much weight you need to lose to have an optimal result. Btw, don't ever be fooled by the online pics posted on plastic surgery websites. The surgeons only post their best work online. Go to a consultation and ask for their book of photos, which will have the good, the bad, and the ugly. Work out with weights regularly, stay hydrated, take your Vitamins, and moisturize your skin. It'll give whomever you choose as a surgeon a really good canvas to work with. -
Lol!! A T&A means tonsils and adenoids. By far the worst surgery ever. Did I say ever? I mean it too. @@*Lexie* I have heard that from a lot of people. I guess because I didn't need any muscle work, my experience was probably different. Matter of fact, my plastic surgeon was very impressed with my ripped abs beneath my 5 lbs of fat! @@kimpossible67, the excess skin is pulled down and removed, the muscles are never cut; only stitched back together if separated. The JP drains are placed and tunneled through the mons pubis (yeah, what a surprise that was) and the surgical incision approximated. The belly button is located and then reattached through an incision. You may be fortunate enough to find a plastic surgeon who uses a Q-ball infusion, which will deliver numbing medication inside your surgical area for 3 days.

Suggestion for Dehydration
BitterSweet* replied to Shannon Piper's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The kidneys are intolerable of prolonged dehydration. Push fluids with electrolytes any way that you can manage it. Aside from sleeve surgery, nausea is a sign of dehydration as well. Your blood pressure may be normal, but is your pulse? If this persists and you can't correct the dehydration on your own, it would be best to seek medical care. Good luck and I hope you are feeling better soon. -

Suggestion for Dehydration
BitterSweet* replied to Shannon Piper's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
If you are feeling dehydrated, you do need to consume fluids that contain electrolytes; it'll correct your dehydration better than plain Water can at this point. Once you are back on track, push water as much as you can. @@Elode gave you a very good suggestion and you can also try Powerade Zero. I like the grape and lime flavored ones. -
It depends on your experiences with surgery and how well you tolerate pain. I have had a T&A, wisdom teeth removal (with no anesthesia), C-section, Lap Chole, and finally a tummy tuck and breast lift. I would rate them in the following order of levels of Hell: 5) T&A = 5th level of Hell. Close to the burning pit. 4) C-section 3) Lap Chole 2) Wisdom teeth 1) Tummy tuck and breast lift hurt the least of all five surgeries. Breasts didn't hurt at all and after two days, all I felt was abdominal soreness which lasted for a couple of weeks. A tummy tuck doesn't involve cutting through muscles; the work is more superficial. However, if the upper abdominal muscles are separated from childbearing and or obesity, the surgeon will stitch them closed and that will hurt more. I didn't have that problem, only loose skin. Hope this helps!

Abuse of wls..when it's not needed
BitterSweet* replied to Momma_D's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@Lipstick Lady, discussions are good because I think many of us have (had) the same line of thinking as you did before your epiphany. Sadly, some people never have that "'light bulb moment" and posts like this are eye-openers. This has the potential to be someone's light switch. Btw, I have a confession: I still do sit in judgement of who should and should not wear leggings. It's because my thighs look like hell on wheels so I must judge. It helps me sleep at night. ????????
