I know slow & steady wins the race but.....
BitterSweet* replied to MommyMeghan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everytime she calls, answer and tell her you need about 15 minutes to finish having sex with your husband. Don't allow her to respond and before hanging up, throw in some moans for good measure. She sounds like a total Bish and I would turn every single phone call of hers into something sexual and inappropriate. She'll quit calling. Ole' hatefull ass. -

Firming and Toning - Need Help!
BitterSweet* replied to browneyedgirl1981's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Buy weights and do them at home if you don't want to do it at the gym. The jiggles are relentless. Cardio and heavy weights are the only things that have ever worked for me. Honestly, even walking 6 or 7 miles per workout with a weighted vest and doing squats with heavy weight transformed the jiggles on the back of my thighs. I was elated to say the least. -

Sudden stabbing pain in Chest, help!
BitterSweet* replied to nowornever14's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@nowornever14, it sounds like you've already figured things out. Your declaration of not taking anti-reflux meds is your choice and it sounds like you're pretty set in stone about it. Just so you are aware (in case you didn't know), there is such a thing as silent reflux( many people have this condition). You can go day and night never having a single symptom and serious damage is being done. Untreated reflux can cause Barretts Esophageal Cancer. Happens to plenty of folks. I applaud you for wanting to figure out your sleeve, eat healthy, and avoid triggers that will intensify reflux. But just because it doesn't wake you up in the middle of the night doesn't mean it's not happening. Please ask your doctor about this at your next visit and good luck to you. -
Hydration Hype...?
BitterSweet* replied to RichardVST's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Richard, 64 oz of fluids is a baseline amount of hydration that the human body needs period. It is preferable that the 64 oz comes from Water, but the circulatory system and kidneys need the hydration to run efficiently. It has nothing to do with whether you have had sleeve surgery. The reason it is stressed so much with sleeve patients is because you lose the ability to just gulp gallons of liquids rapidly if you do get dehydrated. If all you can do is take small sips, perfectly timed with waiting periods after eating, how in the world could you fix that problem? If you were obese enough to have lost 150 lbs, then you most likely have other underlying medical issues. Heart disease and atherosclerosis for example. Morbidly obese people typically have a history of eating foods extremely high in fat and cholesterol, which causes significant buildup in the arteries over time. When you are dehydrated, so are your cells. Blood does not flow through the body systems as easily as it should. It can get quite sluggish. Slugglish blood flow and arteries with years of damage from a poor diet = higher chances of heart attack and stroke, even as a non-obese person. You've changed the outside of your body. What about the inside? Cholesterol can be lowered but what about the plaque build up in the arteries? That reason alone would keep me sipping all freakin day long. I find your question a bit odd. I get it that you don't trust doctors and feel like what they're saying may be hogwash, but bodily functions are grounded in science, not baffoonery or myths. If you're truly interested in knowing the answer to your question you could do your own research and not ask for others' opinions, especially since every single one you'll get will be scientific......not because of a conspiracy, but because it's the truth. Anyway, congratulations on your weight loss. What you have accomplished is phenomenal and I wish you continued, great success. -

Ankle weights
BitterSweet* replied to mentalistfan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wear ankle weights to work. I wear MBT shoes and do lots of walking. Between the shoes and the weights, it's a good way to just burn extra calories. The only thing that can help your skin be in the best shape possible is to do a lot of cardio and weight training. Lots of squats and lunges with heavy weights. Keep your Protein intake up, stay hydrated with Water, take your Vitamins, and keep your skin mouisturized. Builiding lots of lean muscle will help saggy skin look better. Also, losing weight slower gives your skin a chance to rebound better. As much as we want massive weight loss and we want it to happen quick, that drastic kind of change usually equates to hanging skin. -
Am I missing something? General Sleeve vs. Bypass questions
BitterSweet* replied to KatieD6982's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love when fat judges fat. The obese women in that nutrition class ought to be confident in the decision that they've made, to respect you enough for the decision that you've made regarding your life and health. It irritates me when people all of a sudden become experts. If you are obese and sitting in any class regarding bariatrics, you are not an expert, so please have several seats. If you had all the answers, you wouldn't be fat and in a class getting help for being fat. Please sit back, chill out, and respect other people's decisions. -
You haven't lost confidence. You are flawed like every single one of us. Your mistake regarding the correct Vitamins is not the likely cause of her suggestion for you to discuss things with a psychiatrist; your reaction likely was. You are not perfect today, nor will you be tomorrow or the next day. You are going to make mistakes; that is natural. Even once you have surgery, the learning curve is hard. It takes some figuring out, trials (and mistakes) before you sort of work out exactly what and how much your new stomach can handle. Breathe. Calm yourself as best you can. Become more patient and open to corrections from the professionals trying to help you. I know you must feel like a circus animal jumping through all these hoops, but it has been done before and can be done again. You can do this. Regroup and get back to to it.

Sudden stabbing pain in Chest, help!
BitterSweet* replied to nowornever14's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Go get your gallbladder checked ASAP. You need a liver function test (LFT - which is a blood test) at a bare minimum. If your liver enzymes come back elevated, insist upon an ultrasound. If you no longer have a gallbladder, do the obvious. Call your surgeon. -
@@jessdawn37, a good boob job will run you $2,500 per teet. You'll want both done I presume??!! Lol, so $5k. =) @@butterfyeffect, if you aren't already doing so, incorporate heavy weights with all of the squats and lunges. The lean muscle you'll sculpt will transform and balance your figure.

How would you being halfway to your goal be useless? I'm assuming you mean your weight. You're getting healthy, what's useless about that? If you don't get approved do you intend to continue on your wellness path? -

The heart changes you were diagonsed with are classic for people with undiagnosed sleep apnea; Your OSA diagnosis was very recent, right? No worries, a healthy weight, managed blood pressure and a lot of cardio exercises will help your heart to heal. I think when you first posted about needing a sleep study I commented about heart issues that are typical with OSA. -
Gallbladder out at the same time?

Post VSG Cramping and Gallbladder Issues
BitterSweet* replied to Koofka's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What an experience you've had. Gallbladder disease is no joke and can be a real emergency, quite frankly. My advice is to run from any bariatric surgeon that doesn't do proactive measures before your surgery. Mimimum of a liver function test (LFTs) and an EGD. If either is suspicious for gall disease, an ultrasound should ordered. Doctors are not doing you a favor by omitting those measures before VSG, they're actually doing you a disservice. Knowledge is power. -
Gallbladder out at the same time?
BitterSweet* replied to readyforitnow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@KittyChick, even given a laparascopic procedure a month prior (let alone 9 months) they only cut you open if it fails with the scope - which really doesn't happen. They haven't been cutting people open for gallbladder removal in for 20+ years. It sucks and I know you're pissed about it. Just know this, doctors have to have a reason to remove a healthy organ. If you had no evidence of gall disease and it was removed, your insurance company might have an issue with it. Once it is removed, it's sent to the pathology lab where it is checked for a multitude of things. That pathology report gets sent to your doctor and the findings of gall stones etc, become part of your chart and plays a role in how your insurance gets billed. They do have to have a reason to take it out, even given all of the evidence that WLS patients tend to get gall disease. Who knows, times will likely change and it may become a standard practice. Good luck to you!
