Swim. Next best cardio exercise to running. No pain on the joints and works the whole body. Water aerobics is also great for people in your situation. Hand weights and exercise bands are also things you can do in a chair. Good luck to you.

You've already cleary stated in your post that you're calling your doctor in the morning, which is the right thing to do. I have no idea what your symptoms are related to, but if you are concerned about your appendix, do the following two things. Press on the lower right of your abdomen where the appendix is located. If pressing this area relieves your pain and when you release your hand the pain returns, that is a red flag for a hot appendix; it's called rebound pain. Secondly, and this will sound ridiculous, but stand on one foot and jump once, landing on the same foot. An inflamed appendix will cause discomfort in that right, lower quandrant area. If either of those are positive for you, then you should seek help at an ER. Appendicitis can be very minor if detected early, or can have deadly consequences if it bursts. Good luck to you. -

If my neck sags, I'm definitely getting that fixed with plastics. And I didn't know that about Sharon Osbourne either. Kinda scary. -

@@built2livenotexist and @@Noragretz, thank you for sharing a portion of your lives. Plenty of people can identify with your stories and others on here. I appreciate the capacity both of you have in being open and honest without forcing your way of thinking down other people's throats. This is what adult discussion should look like. -

Tunnel vision is never a good thing. No matter which end of the tunnel you're at. @@Cody's mom, your reality, realizations, and truths are your own. Key word is "your." I can respect every single word you've said in this thread as "your" truth and reality. Why is a differing point of view any less true or valid for someone else? How you have chosen to manage your life, deal with traumatic events, and still feel like a whole, non-fractured human being is amazing. That is simply not everyone's reality. Every person is not able to do that, and that does not make their lives, experiences, or inepth coping skills any less valid than yours. All obese people are not excused-filled, won't hold themselves accountable, lazy human beings. This thread brings to light a common issue that apparently many people on here can relate too. If you can not, that's ok, and bravo to you. Your journey with weight loss will be magical since you don't have to deal with any "head" issues, just butter and cake issues. -

=( So sorry about your complication. I hope it resolves quickly so that you start feeling better soon. You were really smart to trust your feelings and seek medical care. -

Some of your fluid intake should contain electrolytes and try to increase your protein. Good luck with your interviews! -

DID ANYONE ELSE GET A DVT
BitterSweet* replied to dollface36's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes, thank you, I am well aware that the store versions are a different grade. They are however, bettter than nothing. Everyone is at risk for DVTs after surgery, and that risk is compounded by other factors that many obese people have (hypertension and diabetes); some precaution should be taken, especially if you are laying around a lot after surgery - which no one should do! And there's no "fitting" for them. They come in small to x-large and we just eyeball how fat someone's leg is and select the appropriate size! Btw, the trick to putting them on is to slip the plastic bag the hose comes in top of the foot, covering the toes, and put it on like pantyhose. Slip the bag off of the foot through the toe opening and then do the other leg. =) -

Who knows....try your best to stay hydrated. That sounds like a lot of fluid volume loss. I hope you feel better soon. -
The answer to your question is nothing. Expect it to happen and if it doesn't, you are truly one in a million. Shop for a cute wig that mimics your current hair, or get something totally different that you look amazing in. Maximize your Protein, hydration with Water, and take your Vitamins. This is near impossible right after surgery, but it's those rough weeks (if you have them), that causes the hair loss.....it just shows up months later. Whatever happens, just know that it'll grow back. Biotin helps with regrow but it will not change whether your hair will fall out.

DID ANYONE ELSE GET A DVT
BitterSweet* replied to dollface36's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Very common after any surgery. Once you get a DVD you are predisposed to getting them again. If you take any form of birth control of hormonal replacement therapy (sorry, I don't know how old you are!), please let your PCP or OBGYN know that you developed this complication. If you used to smoke before surgery, give it up permanently. Good luck to you, and you were so smart to know what to look for and seek medical help. Btw, to the other posters, those anti-embolic stockings (TED hose) are sold everywhere. You can get them at any drug store or WalMart. They're in the old people aisle. Lol! -
Get liver enzymes (LFTs) drawn to check the health of your gallbladder. If your LFTs are elevated, a gallbladder ultrasound should be done. Typical gallbladder pain is on the right side, but it is possible for referred pain to occur. If you no longer have a gallbladder get pancreatic enzymes drawn. Good luck, I hope they figure things out soon.
-
Complain to your doctor that sometimes you have right sided abdominal pain after you eat. It'll prompt them to check your liver enzymes (LFTs), which helps determine the function of your gallbladder. If your lab result is abnormal, they'll do an ultrasound. If everything looks ok, then you can say, "Oh I guess it was just gas or indigestion!" If they find sludge or stones in your gallbladder, you will have saved yourself from a second surgery and it'll just get removed with the VSG. A little white lie never hurt anybody.

The findings at your appointment are precisely what I thought and mentioned earlier. I'm happy for you that your BP meds were decreased and as you progress on your journey you may no longer need them anymore. That would be fantastic! Keep pushing your fluids as best as you can and move slowly when changing positions. -
Good question.

BitterSweet* replied to TeacherMommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That does sound like orthostatic or positional hypotension. A good way to determine if that's the case (until you go to see your surgeon / PCP), is to check your heart rate in different positions; lying down, sitting on the edge of the bed, and then standing. If your heart rate varies a great deal (like a 30 beat difference between positions), it's likely positional hypotension. Usual cause is dehydration, especially if you don't take meds for hypertension. If you do take meds, they may need to be adjusted.
