  1. Unless you have developed a severe allergic reaction to the antibiotics that you're taking, they should not be stopped. An antibiotic course of treatment has to be completed to prevent future resistance to the drugs. What kind of medicine are they practicing over there? The fact that you are now negative for H. Pylori means that the antibiotics are doing exactly what they are designed to do. Why in the world would they advise you to do something that will actually cause you harm? I am so sorry you're going through this and I really think it is time for a second opinion, even if it is just with your PCP initially. Please. You need to speak until you are heard because your recovery is far from normal.
  2. I'm sure everyone will chime in to tell you that the restriction will be felt as your diet advances to purees and soft mechanical. The way to figure out the size of your sleeve is to ask your surgeon what bougie size was used in your surgery. Also, once you begin eating, measure the amount of food before and whatever is leftover. It'll give you a good idea about how many ounces your sleeve can hold.

@@lily0327, yes. That word / company name is hyperlinked and permalinked on this site. My guess is that they pay to advertise here.

Anyone have C Diff post op?

  9. I second what @@emsgirl114 said. My PCP is treating my H. Pylori, not my bariatric surgeon. Btw, if your wife was not tested for H. Pylori, she needs to be at her next follow-up appointment. Bloodwork can detect an infection as well, not just a biopsy from an EGD. Until you know for sure that she is free of it, avoid kissing. Not that you probably feel like it given your unrelenting nausea, but H. Pylori can be transmitted through saliva and it is possible to become reinfected. I did not realize that until my last appointment with my surgeon.

    Sharp pain ????

@@newstartme, Without having bumped yourself - causing a bruise or administration of Lovenox shots into your abdomen, that black and blue color is from bloody drainage. Could simply be residual, old drainage from where your JP drain was after surgery. But black & blue, pain, and swelling would mean an ER trip for me. I hope you feel better soon. Please keep us posted and let us know what happens.

4 Days Post Op...need some HELP!

Good Lawd girl!! Do whatever you feel up to except the smoking. Smoking delays wound healing substantially, and depriving healing tissues of needed oxygen is the last thing that would be on my list. Have sex instead and then go to sleep. Skip the cigarrette(s). Itching is a sign of healing, just as Elode indicated. As long as it's just itching without a rash or blisters, you're good. Don't scratch though! Smooth Moves tea can help with the BM issue and smaller sips of whatever should help with the chest discomfort. The clear Protein drinks may work better for you than the shakes right now. Congratulations on your surgery!

    What happens if...

Are you taking something for reflux? If not, ask your surgeon about that because reflux can cause a lot of nausea. If you are, try taking that med first thing upon waking with just a sip of something and wait 30 minutes or so before trying to consume anything else. Btw, persistent nausea can be caused by dehydration as well. Try changing the temperature of your fluids and definitely add Mio, crystal lite, or Water down some G2 and drink that. I hope you feel better soon.
  18. Ditto. We'd like to hear an update from you @nprcowboy. How are you and how is your wife recovering from her surgery?
  19. I think you're doing fantastic! Try using clothing to measure your success instead of the scale.

    Low blood pressure

@@rhonda2006, if you are taking anti-hypertensives your doctor may need to discontinue them. If you are not taking any BP meds, the following are possible issues that you can discuss with your doctor: Anemia as a result of your hysterectomy or your nutritional intake; dehydration (which is the typical cause). I think people really underestimate how much Fluid intake their bodies need. The standard 64oz simply may not be enough, and if you aren't getting that amount consistently 100% of the time, it doesn't take much to become dehydrated - particularly if you are exercising. My advice is to make an appointment to be seen. When dizziness occurs, syncope (fainting) is not that far behind. And fainting can occur anywhere, even when you are driving, so please follow-up with your doctor. Congratulations on your massive weight loss! That is phenomenal!

Sick and tired of explaining myself...

@@ProjectMe, I think your idea is very sound and if the OP has a family dynamic like that, your solution would probably work. The people in my family are quite dysfunctional. I can only imagine the OP sitting at the table basically being ridiculed and questioned, and I doubt that her discomfort was invisible and oblivious to them, but they still persisted and have done so on other occasions as well. They lack boundaries and if she doesn't have that elder role model in the family to silence this BS, I would squash it myself, and it wouldn't be pleasant.

Sick and tired of explaining myself...

Since everyone already knows and they apparently think free reign of unsolicited opinions accompanies this knowledge of your surgery, I'd opt for a grown up tantrum. And I'd do it at one of the big family functions the minute someone opened their mouths to comment. It's not cool at all and they know better. I wouldn't buy the just trying to help argument from any of them. How much were they "just trying to help" when you used to previously sit at the table with a mound of food on your plate? Did they comment then? Were they concerned and made comments at that time? This is going to eat away at you until you say something and personally, I like adult tantrums, especially if throwing one is out of character for you. We tolerate too much sh!t from family sometimes.
  24. Oh snap! I forgot about the fried chicken. I could smash a 3 piece, spicy, white meat from Popeyes. I could eat all 3 pieces and most of the side, and maybe one bite of the biscuit. LMAO @@kimpossible67 with the chewed candy!
