I didn't have to do the cardio visit so I'm not sure what you should expect.

They say hair loss only comes from nutrient deficiency. Not extreme weight loss. And there's no reason to give up now. It's a permanent change. Call your surgeon or dietician and see if they can help. Maybe your not getting enough protein. There could be a lot of variables

What to do with my hands?
samanthar replied to mamaofmatthew's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Food has already let you down! ! If it was your best friend then why would it put your health at risk? This is a big change but it is for the better :-) -
Any couples with young children here who've both had WLS?
samanthar replied to brians34's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I haven't had my surgery yet. But my family is changing along with me. It's there way to show support. I have a 11 year old that is a little overweight and a 7 year old. One of the reasons I'm doing this is to set a good example for my kids. So getting them to figure out how to make it in life (hopefully without having to go through a process like this) would be the one of the greatest things I can do for them. -
Congrats!! I will meet you on the other side in October.

Hi. I am still new to this too. I am going in for my third weigh in this week. Half way there! ! I am super excited. Can't wait to get through the pre op. How far are you in the process?

hernia w/ gastric bypass? anyone?
samanthar replied to *Misty*Raine*'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They found a hiatal hernia when they did my scope. The only pro let I was having good was a little extra acid reflux. And they are planning to fix it when I get my sleeve. -
I have told everybody that I am having surgery. I have found most people are supportive. I had a couple people say why can't you just excercise. And I have told them if that was all it took I would have lost the weight 7 years ago. I have also used my personal life as a way to educate people about wls. People are usually scared of what they don't understand so take the opportunity to explain it to them!!

Congratulations! !

Yeah I'm a little nervous to see what my legs and stomach are going to look like afterwards. I'm sure it won't be the most attractive for a while. But I rather carry around lose skin that I can cover up than the 120 pounds I want to lose.

Just curious. Are you more nervous or excited. I'm personally more excited. I keep thinking about all the things I get to look forward to. I told my husband next year I'm planning a big shopping trip!!

Are your family & friends telling you to stop losing weight?
samanthar replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm still 3 months pre op so I haven't been through this yet. But I have lost 18 pounds since being on my supervised diet, and I have had so many people say ask why I'm doing the surgery if I've already lost that much on my own. I quit telling people because I don't want to have to defend myself anymore. I have lost 30 on my own before but because of other medical problems I gained it all back plus some. Why do people think they know what's better for you? -
Has anybody else lost weight since starting the pre op? I have only followed the eating rules and haven't started the exercise yet and I am down 18 pounds. I have never had the weight come off like this before. I am actually worried they will cancel because I'm doing too good.

Everything for my surgery even the follow ups and skin removal is covered. Thank god. My eval was about the same. Even asked if my family has any addiction problems. Oh boy do they. But I told him I'm not my family, I'm me.

Why i braved this surgery
samanthar replied to AR40's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have two wonderful kids. My son is 11 years old and is 5'5'' and 165 pounds. He's not a typical 11 year old. I know it's hard when your kids get teased and picked on. And everybody wants to protect their kids from it. But I think talking to your kids and telling them what to do if it happens again can be more empowering for them. It's amazing what you can't hide your kids from but also give them the tools to take care of them selves when your not around. -
The psych evaluation was a little scary. Not going to lie. It almost feels like an interrogation. I sat there wondering the whole time if I said something wrong. But just be honest

NEWBIES..... LETS STICK TOGETHER
samanthar replied to pattiecakes79's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi everybody. I am a newbie. I'm planning on having my surgery in October but no exact date yet. I'm super excited that my three month appointment with the surgeon is coming up in a few weeks. Almost half way there. Anybody else for October ? -
Hi everybody. I am 30 years old. Mother of two great kids. They are an 11 year old boy and 7 year old girl. I have been married to my husband for 2 years but have been together for 18! I am a quality technician in a factory. Not the greatest job but not too bad. I love the people I work with. My life is hectic but wouldn't be life without stress and struggles sometimes.
