I'm 61 yrs old, I am on disability the past 2 years due to my weight and complications from diabetes, but I was sleeved in Feb. 2014, I dropped weight quickly the first 2 months, thought "this is too easy" weight loss has slowed now but still loosing. I take a Water aerobics class 3 times a week and can now walk a little farther and move alot better..I'm trying to keep up with my grandchildren and I think if I keep at this I will be good to go lots more places that require walking next summer.

Yes I gained 18lbs after surgery, really depressing, but it started coming off quickly after a few days I also was told this was normal. You will feel better soon!

Gibble replied to BeenGym'N's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have sleep apnea and got my C-pap machine about 3-4 weeks before surgery, too. No problems with surgery -

I do Water aerobics 3x's/week. Got there by telling myself that I might be the fattest person there now, but by doing this I won,t always be. I have been doing this for 31/2 months now and finally last Friday I was talking to the instructor and told her I had lost 4 lbs that week and that made 50 lbs since Feb, Got congratulations from her and several others. Really felt good!

I have had problems with this before and after surgery. Call your Dr. there are meds for this that really do help. There's not really any thing else that works.

It took about 2 weeks for me, so if you don't hear soon I would call them. Good Luck and welcome!

My Dr. suggested flat soda when I was nauseated, but I think you could drink it any time, just sip slowly.

I had trouble finding a vitamin with iron in it, finally found centrum makes a chewable which my dietician approved. I was also told to always eat my protien first, and if you eat the right amount you won't be hungry for any thing else. -
GREAT NEW SINGLE LOCATION FOR "STALL TALK!"
Gibble replied to LivingFree!'s topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was stalled for 3 weeks then dropped 7 lbs and now stalled again. I hate this. I worry because I can't seem to get over 32 ozs of Water in, I get bloated and have some increased reflux if I push fluids too much. I count calories and keep track of everything I eat, but I can't get that scale to move. I'm almost 5 months out and down 45 lbs. Good to know others are having the same problems. -

I'm 4 1/2 months post op and can't believe I actually put stuff back on the shelf at the grocery store because I read the labels now and when I compare serving size, calories, and fat I deceide it's not what I need or really want. It's hard seeing all that food on the shelf, but when I think about it I really don't want chips or Cookies, or whatever. I also started a Water aerobics class at the Y and have come to love it! I never exercised before, but now it's part of my day. Just think positive and follow your Dr.s advice and you will be amazed. -

Hi! I'm an RN, worked mostly in Hospice the last 10yrs, but due to complications from my diabetes I no longer work. I was sleeved on Feb. 17 Things have been going well, but recenty slipped back into my old habit of munching while reading or watching TV. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to stop this? -
Mine was my left thigh I had pain and a burning feeling. also thigh felt numb. I was told this was because they had to strap my legs down during surgery, because operating room table was too narrow. 4 mo. later no pain but still some numbness and weakness. Doc also says this could be caused by sciatica.

2 months post op weight gain
Gibble replied to mistymae's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At 3 mos. post op I gained and lost the same 4 lbs over and over for a whole month, I added more exercise, but no luck. Finally the scale started to move again and I've lost another 10. I am 4 1/2 months post-op. My Dr. told me to quit worrying about the scale and concentrate on how much better I felt. Just stick with it and you will see results! -
My family calls me Gibble. A name started by my first grand-daughter. I now have 5 grand children and my weight of 315 lbs was stopping me from doing things with my grands. So I decieded to go for VSG surgery. I'm 61 yrs. old. I am 4 months post op and down 44 lbs, 2 1/2" around my chest and waist. I have a lot more energy and feel alot better. Still having trouble walking for more than 5 min. Not sure if this is due to neuropathy in feet and legs which was present before surgery or the fact that after surgery I had numbness in my left thigh that continues today. Anyway I have found that I can do Water aerobics and go 3x'/week and love it . Never thought I'd say that about exercise, but it's really fun!
