Thank you for the suggestions. I will be writing a list to take with me to the surgeon. -
The process is starting
ambieambs replied to ambieambs's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Finally got an appointment set up for initial consultation with the surgeon. I see him October 2. Let's get this on a roll. I've got a wedding to plan lol. -
I started the beginning process to getting my surgery in the beginning of July. I finally have my initial consultation with the surgeon on October 2. I just got engaged on August 17 of this year. I plan on getting married November 7, 2015. Problem is I am worried that I will not get my surgery in time or not be out far enough and be miserable on my wedding day. I considered getting married before my surgery, but there is a chance that I could lose my health insurance once I get married so I can't do that. This surgery has to come first and it is very important to me. If I want a long healthy life with my fiance then I need this surgery.

Surgery and wedding 2015

I plan on having my mom make my dress so that she will be able to make alterations easier as needed. I am hoping that goes smoothly. Plan on doing a test run with cheap fabric for the dress. -
Surgery and wedding 2015
ambieambs replied to ambieambs's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I don't understand why you would be miserable on your wedding day given that you could be almost a year out. I felt amazing after the first 3 months and at less than 3 months, I didn't feel bad, just not as great as now. Think about all the dress options you'll have. I have not met with the surgeon yet. The first appointment is in October then I will go from there with insurance requirements and then the nutrition classes and every thing else. My surgery will be no sooner than February or March. There is a chance that it could be June or July and that is what I worry about. I am sure I will be fine on my wedding day, but I tend to worry a lot anyway. -
Surgery and wedding 2015
ambieambs replied to ambieambs's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I tried calling insurance company and they are clueless every time I call. They read me what is on the internet that I already know which is I need a referral letter. I will meet with the insurance coordinator on day of surgeon appointment and she will tell me what the requirements are. -
I don't know if this would help at all, but did you have a high bmi the last time that you did see a doctor? If so maybe get the records showing that you do have a history of it. I don't know if it will work or not, but it's worth a try. Good luck. I hope you get approved for your surgery.

Pre-op 6 month diet plan
ambieambs replied to jasminebsn3's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is a good question. I worry if the insurance goes by amount of weight loss. Right now I have been losing a few pounds here and there but it never lasts long so I worry that I will not be able to lose the weight. If anyone has any ideas on a way to lose weight if that is necessary please post it. I am willing to try whatever it takes. -
Lap band or sleeve? Why did you get revision to sleeve?
ambieambs replied to okaykay's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
The surgical weight loss center that I am going through does not even do the lapband anymore. -
Top 10 things you want to be able to do after the surgery
ambieambs replied to mal0712's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have not yet met with my surgeon for initial consultation. I should be expecting a call middle of next week to set up the appointment. Here is my top 10: 1. Be a beautiful bride on my wedding day. 2. Be healthier and take less medications. 3. Have more energy and motivation to live life. 4. Exercise and be active without being in constant pain or feeling like I am going to have a heart attack. 5. Shop for clothing that is not plus size. 6. Feel like I am pretty enough for my boyfriend (he tells me I am perfect just the way I am he just wants me healthy). 7. Not be embarrassed about the way I look in public. 8. Be able to feel comfortable sitting on a chair not feeling like I will break it and wear a seatbelt that is not so tight I can't move. 9. Be able to do things without being breathless. 10. Wear sexy clothing. I am sure there is a lot more that I would love to be able to do. -
patiently/Impatiently Waiting
ambieambs replied to Mzthick1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am playing the waiting game right now but I have not even been able to have an initial consultation with the surgeon yet. I faxed paper work to the office last week so that I can get the process rolling. I called them today and they told me that they received my fax and they will be calling me the middle of next week to schedule my appointment. Why they could not schedule it while I was already on the phone, I have no idea. I want this process moving. -

The process is starting
ambieambs replied to ambieambs's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Thank you iheartz. I am very excited and I would not be able to do this without the support of my family friends and most of all my boyfriend. These forums have helped me out so much. I have the app on my phone so I read through them many times throughout the day. So glad that I can come here for support as well. -
I am just starting the process of weight loss surgery. I have attended a seminar and I have my referral letter. Now I just have to get an appointment to have a bod pod done. A bod pod is something they do here to measure the body fat. After that is done, I can meet with the surgeon. I'm not alone in this. My bf is not only supporting me through it, he is going to go through it with me. I am however very nervous about the idea of surgery and making such a big change, but it is a change that I want and need.

Death and sadness.
ambieambs replied to LindafromFlorida's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I can relate to the pain of losing loved ones. I was watching my uncle die of melanoma cancer and it was so hard to watch knowing he was suffering. One night when we thought we were losing him my grandma broke down and said this can't happen. She said she was supposed to die before him. A few days later my grandma went in for a heart valve replacement and came back out of surgery on life support. I was there with my family holding her hand when she passed. She was my best friend and my world. She died March 19 2010 and I am still lost without her. Not long after we lost her, my uncle finally passed. He passed June 1 2010. My grandma got her wish. She was there in heaven waiting for my uncle when he passed away. I miss them every day but I know they are with me. -
What if I do not get my referral?
ambieambs posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have been thinking about having WLS done for a while now. I talked to my physician when I first decided that I wanted the surgery and he told me he was completely against WLS, but if he has to he will give me the referral. I am afraid he will back out, or not follow through with his part of the steps for me to get the WLS done. I went to a seminar on the 7th and the next day I called my physician's office and scheduled an appointment with him for the 16th of July. I am very nervous about talking to him. -

Thank you! It is a big relief. I am so excited that the process has finally begun. It is no longer just a thought in my mind. -
What if I do not get my referral?
ambieambs replied to ambieambs's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I decided to give my pcp the chance to say yes or no before I found another doctor. I am glad that I did give him that chance. I met with my pcp today and he realized I was serious about having the weight loss surgery when I had a folder full of all of the information that I received from an informational meeting. He sent the referral to the surgeons office and I should be getting a call soon to schedule an appointment. I am so excited. I thought that getting the referral from my doctor was going to be hard. This is it. It is real. I finally have the steps started. -
Looking for a home scale that I can use to track weightloss journey
ambieambs replied to Yasman's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Reading the responses got me looking for a scale for myself. I have just started the process of WLS. I go Wednesday to ask my doctor for a referral letter. I am happy to say that I just ordered the scale that was 26.99 on Groupon. I can't wait until I get it. -
Generating Inspiration
ambieambs replied to I will what I want's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am glad that I found this topic and read it. I am very determined to have wls done, but there are times when I wonder if I can really do it. Reading these inspirations have helped me. One thing that has inspired me is I would like to get married. I feel like I am pretty how I am for the most part, but I have very little energy and it is hard to find clothes that fit me. I can just imagine how it will be trying to find a wedding dress. I want to be smaller and feel great when I get married. I want to dance all night without getting worn out or be short of breath. I also have been having medical issues that scare me. I get extremely painful chest pains, and the doctors do not know why. I am 29 years old and I have a cardiologist. I was hospitalized less than a month ago due to the chest pains, but still no answers to why I have the pains. I am at high risk for heart disease and it runs in my family, so if I do not want to die at an early age this is my only option. -
What if I do not get my referral?
ambieambs replied to ambieambs's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Thank you everyone for your input. I will go to my doctor appointment on the 16th and see what he says. If he does not want to do it, I will just find a doctor who will. -
What if I do not get my referral?
ambieambs replied to ambieambs's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My doctor used to be heavy, but is now average weight. He was able to do it on his own. The very first time that I saw him I swore to never go back, and I found a new doctor. He had walked in the room, introduced himself, then he proceeded to ask me if I realized how overweight I was. I told him yes I was aware and that I was trying my hardest to lose some weight. He looked me straight in the eyes and asked me what I am going to do when I am 50, weigh 500 lbs and cant walk. At the time I was close to 300 lbs and I was about 23 or 24. I ended up having to go back to him because my town is somewhat limited on doctors. I think it is time to go out of town for a new doctor.
