I had to look it up.... The name of the company that makes charcoal underwear is called Under-Tec. -
Can you name 1, or 2 things you would love to do once you reach your goal?
Cota129 replied to mstrina27's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
1. I want to be able to run. Not in a race, just run. 2. Be able to walk through a mall, or around town, or around the block, without needing a break every 5 minutes. 3. Walk into a store, find something in my size, and buy it without trying it on because I know it fits. -

I don't post very often, but I had to this time. This is the funniest thread I have ever read!! Thanks for a great morning start!! -
I also got a call from the surgery center who did my surgery. I told them I was self pay and that my surgeon did the repair as part of my banding. I referred them to my doctor, who told them it was part of my self pay fee and was not to be persued with my insurance company. They dropped the matter.

I was told coffee was fine as long as it was not a pot or 2 a day. I drink about 1.5 cups in the morning with sweet and low. My once a week treat, though, is a skinny latte from Starbucks. Yum!!

How did your doctors feel about you getting a Gastric Band?
Cota129 replied to sphynxmomma's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Haven't told my PCP. I was self-pay and my surgeon did all the pre op testing at the office. I didn't really give much thought to asking my primary for her opinion. -
I like Atkins Advantage

I have a card, but will not use it. I will not order off the kids menu because most of the food on it is crap. I order soup, side salads, or an appetizer. sometimes a combo of soup and salad. If I order a meal, I bring most of it home for a couple of more meals. Eating with my band is my business, not the restaurant's. Why make an issue or refuse to go back if they won't accomodate your eating needs? That's ridiculous.

Yazmin, many of us have been where you are. Making the decision to get the band, and then getting it, is huge, life changing, a learning process, and not always the easiest thing to live with at first. I felt not so great the first few weeks and I was so sick of liquids and then mushies. I, too, thought I would have to give up what I like. Honestly, there have been some things that I have had to cut out of my food repetoire. But many of them were the foods that weren't that good for me anyway. I get to eat what I like to eat, but in much smaller amounts. Food is so much better when it is savored and not gobbled. Talk to your doctor NOW. There might be other physical things, like imbalances in chemistry as suggested above, that are making you crash. It's only been 4 months for me, but the changes I have made are so good. Not always easy, but good. If you feel you have to have the band removed, then do it. But you really should give it a few months. Get through the bandster hell part, learn to work with it, give yourself a fair chance. You might be surprised. Good luck.

Great thread!! I love my collarbone, my really nice cheekbones, my newly sharp ankle bones and the veins I can see in my hands. My belly button is now visible without having to move around a middle roll!

When I was 24, which is 26 years ago, I applied for jobs all over the country, found a job at a place I liked, packed up and moved from Michigan to Illinois. It was the hardest thing I ever did. But, it was also the best thing I ever did. I was able to figure out who I was, not who my family thought I should be. I was able to put a difficult past behind me, move forward, and discover all kinds of things about myself. I made wonderful friends, embarked on all kinds of adventures, and became the person I am today. Could I do it again? Probably not. But it was the perfect thing to do when I was single and needed to explore the world. Good luck with your decision.

What is your favorite healthy meal/????
Cota129 replied to too much of me's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have become crazy about spinach salads with whatever meat I have left over on it, sprinkled with a bit of cheddar and then Paul Newman's 3 cheese Balsamic dressing on it. Yum!! -
Can Nurses Take A Course To Learn How To Do Fills?
Cota129 replied to juney1968's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My doctor's nurse does my fills. Why wouldn't they be able to? Nurses do shots and other procedures -
I am tight in the morning, and have never been a breakfast eater. I have an Atkins shake in the morning because it goes down and I can have it on the run. The rest of the day is food

Just banded and feeling awful
Cota129 replied to brisamegeo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Give it a few days. I felt like crap the first few days with soreness and fatigue. At about 4 days, life was much better. Your body was cut into and a piece of something was added. It's just telling you off for causing trauma!! Hang in there. -
My nose piercing was covered with a piece of tape during surgery. Didn't have to take it out

What time of day does your band loosen up?
Cota129 replied to citygirl4616's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My band hasn't made up its mind yet as to when it's going to be tight at a consistent time . Some days I can eat reasonably; other days, I am so tight, hardly anything goes down. I just go with the mood that it's in.... Can't complain, though. I love the way I am looking and feeling!:blushing: -
Ive lost a leg and a brain what about you?
Cota129 replied to chillie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have this list posted in my kitchen. I love it! I have, so far, lost a human leg. My first big goal is an elephant's penis -

Donuts are not worth it....what's your food that's not worth it???
Cota129 replied to blahblahblah's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Pretty much anything with gluten in it is off limits. I also have varying degrees of difficulty with most meat. I can eat much better in the afternoon than in the evening, so my main meal is lunch. -
My doc told me to use children's complete chewables and chewable calcium

Mmmm.....protein

The pain is initially from the gas that is pumped into your belly during surgery. It is also referred pain from your diaphragm due to the surgery. Some ppl have pain for several months, I had that annoying pain for about 6 weeks, everytime I ate . It did clear up by itself and I have not had any problems since. It hurt like the dickens!! Glad it's gone.

Is a 1/2 cup of food keeping you full?
Cota129 replied to Joaquin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My doctor has never told me what amount, i.e., .5 or 1 cup per meal. I am supposed to keep my daily intake to around 1200 calories. I have been told to eat until I feel full, which honestly, doesn't take long. I've done enough weighing and measuring through out my diet career. That is what has often been my downfall. When I watch my family and friends eat (they're all thin), they eat until they are full. That is what I want to do...eat like a "normal" person and not have to weigh and measure.
