AP Lap Band - The newer 'improved' band. (w/ pics)
Cota129 replied to dustout's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
That's the band I just received. I've heard good things and the surgeon has had good luck with it in the short time he's been using it. -
My surgeon told me that I could have my usual 1.5 cups of coffee in the morning with no problem. I haven't had any yet (5 days post), because it just doesn't sound good. The doc told me no carbonation, though

48 hours until my life changes.

Congratulations!! I've been banded a big 5 days and am already happy with my decision to do this. You will be very happy -

It's 3 days out for me. The pain is much more managable and I can get up and down from bed/chairs with minimal moaning and groaning! I've had vicious bloating and gas. I've been walking around but that didn't seem to help much. Earlier today, I felt well enough that I had my son take me to the store. When we got home, I walked around even more in the neighborhood. Low and behold, it was like the energy fairy laid her wand on me! This evening I feel so good! I even, here's the gross part:heh:, had my first post surgical BM!! Talk about feeling good. The bloating is all the way down now!! I'm having trouble getting all my liquids in. The day of, and the day after, surgery, liquids were going down with no problem. Now I find myself getting very full, quickly, and have had to back way off so I don't get sick. My plan is back to work on Tuesday. I'm pretty sure I'll be going if I keep feeling this good. I hope everything is going well for all the Novembers who have been banded already.

Need help for gas pain
Cota129 replied to cindyg1212's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded 2 days ago. The gas pains can be fairly bad and overwhelming. I use gas-X to help break it up, laying on your side helps it to escape, too. And the big thing is walking. I wander through the house and that seems to help expell the gas, too. All I keep envisioning are all of us November dates walking around letting them rip!! -
Surgery was yesterday. I've been drinking my water, making sure I have protein added to water. In all the post op stuff, it says that we will feel somewhat of a resriction and will have to take tiny sips. I feel no different today being banded as I did 2 days ago not being banded (other than hurting like crazy when I get up)! Liquids go down really easy. The only thing I notice is that I always feel full and don't feel like I'm being deprived. Does the feeling of restriction start when I go to pureed and mushy?

I'm going through my closet for the annual switch from summer clothes to fall/winter clothes. I have a HUGE pile of spring and summer clothes that I plan on NEVER wearing again because they will be too big. I feel so positive about my life change that I just want to give them all away. Has anyone else done this yet?
-
I knew when whatever they gave me during surgery, for pain, would wear off, but I never imagined I would hurt this much. I feel like a punching bag. The good think about today, is that I'm passing gas like crazy! Tomorrow has got to be better.

My surgery was this morning. It went well. I was at the centre about 6:15 and on my way home by 10:30. I did have a huge hiatal hernia, which was repaired. I feel pretty good. Sore when I sit up. The surgeon told me I might be more sore tomorrow when the anesthesia is fully worn off. All in all, not a bad experience

Shadsta83....here I am !! How are you doing tonight? I'm pretty good. A little bitchy and snappy, and my hands and feet are freezing....a sure sign for me that I'm nervous! My surgery is scheduled for 7:30 am, I need to be there by 6:faint: Good luck to you tomorrow!
-
Cool story, wnt2lose. I believe in signs. You sure had a postive one given to you! Congrats on your successful surgery.

In 24 hours, I'll be on my way to surgery and celebrating my rebirthday!! I'm excited, but also feel like I could puke right now. Guess the nerves are starting to creep in

I am looking for a good pair of walking shoes this week-end and was wondering what shoes are recommended. I generally don't wear athletic shoes and am clueless what to look for in a shoe. Thanks for the help

Need HELP gaining Husband's support!
Cota129 replied to minerals13's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I've had that very same question asked today by my mom. My answer was that, over the years, I have tried every tool known to man and they worked temporarily. I look at lapband as a permanent tool that will help me be successful FOREVER!! The only blessing that you need is your own. Do what you think is the best for you. -
I've never been known for my shyness. I go to the pool all summer long with my friends. I don't care what others think.
-
This is so cool!! Thanks for putting it up. Pre- surgery, I have lost almost 10 dozen eggs.
-
Good luck to everyone!! It's our big month!
-
I also have over 100 lb. to lose. I'm not the jealous type....we all have our own paths to follow. The people I want to smack are those like my size 3 best friend who whines that she's getting "fat" because she had to pull out her size 4 jeans every once in a while!! I know extra weight is uncomfortable for anyone, but the little tiny people who complain just kill me!
-
Vitamin Shoppe has all kinds of protein stuff, too
-
I've told very few people. Like anything else that is deeply personal, my decision to have surgery is my business. As my weight loss becomes obvious, my answer will be that I am exercising and watching what I eat.
-
It's nice to know so many are going through the same thing at the same time. This entire forum has given me so much information and peace. One more week for me!!

November 7 for me!!!
-
For the pre-op, I am supposed to get 106 grams of protein a day and no more than 50 carbs. I get most of it from the protein shakes. I can also have soup. The doc recommended Trader Joe soups, but I have discovered that Healthy choice soups have more protein and less carbs. It's my 3rd day of all liquid. I am ready to eat my arm off!

I'm feel so much better knowing others feel the same way I do. My surgery is Nov. 7. Now that I'm on the liquid pre-op diet, I am nervous and sometimes feel like this is just surreal. Am I really doing a surgery to lose weight? I know I am doing the right thing, but I still find myself having doubts. What we are doing is HUGE! We are going to do great. Nerves are ok.
