Where was her mama/pappa/babysitter/responsible adult when she approaching you? I have three children 27 to 16 yrs old. NEVER have any of them at that age approached a perfect stranger and spoken, period. NEVER! And if they had, there would of been an apology issued to the person, by them, and a gentle lesson given, by me in first approaching strangers and speaking, and second on not commenting on the differences we observe in otheres. Ok, so, try, try to not let this set back take you further back. Try not to let this undo all the hard work you did in losing the weight on your own. So, why were you denied the surgery? And finally, try not to fixate on what a 6 yr old said. I don't believe any malic was intended.

@phx2sxv. Well I had surgery for health first of course, but I love the results I'm getting looks wise. I am so enjoying seeing myself in smaller cute attractive clothing. Hell yes! I love the way I look and I'll shout it from my rooftop. Be very happy and proud about the way you feel and look. The negative Nellie haters, tell them to take several seats!

@MichiganChic. Thanks for the validation. I surprise myself at times. I'll just trip over my feet. While yoga doesn't seem to be my thing, maybe I'll try a class one day soon. You never know.

Gastric Sleeve weight loss Men vs. Women
finediva replied to mns112182's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Well men tend to do most things faster than us right, and no, it's not always a good thing! Seeing how this is so, they should of been the ones who gave birth. You know how some of us labor for 27 plus hours, in my case, three days with my first, they would be in and out of labor and delivery in three hours or less. Ok, I digressed and didn't answer the question. -
@Mel13. Yes, I have been there several times in my lifetime and no, it's not as simple as getting a hobby. You are dealing with day to day minute by minute stressful and emotional situations. Try keep the right foods handy wnd available to you. Take a few minutes every night or every few nights and get stuff ready in containers or baggies. I pretty much live on the road with my job and refuse to be without food from home. I will not stop for fast food, no matter how healthy the options maybe. So, think string cheese, hard boiled eggs, small amounts of nuts, skim milk and unflavored protein powder, grill chicken, ham, half of an apple..... see where I'm going with this? Always have water with you. I don't eat jerky, because of the salt content, but lots of people swear by it. Just try to always be prepared to have a healthy option. Don't give up. Best.

I don't know what happened, but my balance has been really off since I had surgery. I mean, I find myself almost falling or leaning several times a week. My 16 yr old son laughs at me. It's not funny though. I'm extra careful in the shower. I'm afraid to take a yoga class. Afraid that I'll fall out during one of the poses and EMS will have to respond. How embarrassing that would be!

I really want to cheat!
finediva replied to Luann919's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have sex. So wish I had thought of that when i wad detoxifying from caffeine and sugar. So, to me the problem with having the biscuit. ..... what if you don't stop at just one? What if it leads to more biscuits or "other stuff"? Just be careful. Try and keep your eye on your prize. Best. -
Well, that's good to hear. No black clouds allowed. Best on your decision to get healthier.

I really want to cheat!
finediva replied to Luann919's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How long was your pre op diet? Surprised that you are still having carb craving, or are you just focusing on food? -
I'm 5 months out in two days. I've averaged 10 pounds a month. You have averaged 15 pounds a month. Why are you not pleased with that? What number are you looking for? You will not just wake up at goal. This is alot of work and as you stay committed to the process the weight will come off. I lost zero weight in October. I was frustrated and angry, but there was nothing I could do about it, but wait it out. Be happy about your great loss and try to be at peace with the process, even when it's not going the way you want it to. Best.

Everyone keeps asking what I want for Christmas...
finediva replied to fit4life123's topic in Insurance & Financing
Congrats on the approval! All I want for Christmas is to be 170pounds. Sorry, just couldn't help myself. -
also can depend on the size of the drain. For my hernia repair the drain was bigger than the tiny one used with my sleeve surgery. I felt the slight, quick tug when the larger one was removed. Not pain, brief tug. With the sleeve. ..... nothing.

Enjoyed reading alot of the post. Thanks for sharing. Did you have allmthe procedures done at the same time, in one single surgery? I apologize if this question was asked and answered. You look amazing!

Newbie...Did any of you go through pre-surgery jitters?
finediva replied to MsLGibb's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Doing extensive research before surgery had absolutely nothing to do with my extreme nervousness. I started my research October 2012 and had my consultation April 2014. My surgeon was super impressed with my knowledge about all of the procedures. I was a nervous reck because I was about to have surgery, period! At my third c section, I was more nervous than at my second. New the baby had to come out, but didn't want to be in that OR! Was crying like a big baby. So for my sleeve, I let it be known I needed some anxiety drugs. Don't feel bad about being nervou. That's a very normal reaction. Ask for some anxiety meds. Infact discus it with the anesthesiologist at the pre op visit. Lost of people on this board, including me, was given something to relax before surgery. Best. -
Do you notice how much others eat?
finediva replied to *Lexie*'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@butterfyeffect. I went on a cruise in 2009 and came home 6 pounds heavier after one week. No, not water weight, fat! Took me almost two months to get it off. We ater from the moment we stepped foot on the boat. Had breakfast sent to the room AND, ate breakfast again after leaving the room. Wasn't hungry, but sat down to a 6 course dinner every night at 9pm. That sort of crap is what caused the gain. I look back now and wonder why I ate that much food. I was eating simply because the food was there and I felt it was already paid for. SMH. -
My doctor actually showed her disappointment in my loss at my one month visit. Really? ! At my three month visit she still wasn't happy, telling me no more unflavored protein powder and only one egg for breakfast. Clearly she was not interested in discussing my daily caloric or protein intake. She told me not to worry about either, because I was not an athlete and needed to live off my fat reserve. I left there in tears and completely confused. I have been losing very slowly, but I'm losing. My body is doing it's thing and I've made peace with that. Try to do the same and you will have a much more stressful journey. Best.

finediva replied to MsLGibb's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, yeah! I didn't tell anyone about my surgery, including the person who dropped me off at the hospital entrance. Only said I was going in for ambulatory procedure, so I was playing it off like it was a no big deal day. Once I was with the nurse, I was a complete mess. The crying every few minutes continued until I was given my wonderful valium pills. It's surgery. Not to be nervous, to me, wouldn't be normal. But everyone is different. Best. -
@laurenella82. Yup, during my c sections 16 yrs ago, I felt my doctor cutting me. I said " i can feel that", anesthesiologist gave more medicine. Surgery continues, " I can feel that", my doctor gets pissed off at the anesthesiologist, tells him to do something, and fast. Anesthesiologist says to me, sorry, I'll have to put you to sleep. I get pissed at all of them, and begins begging then not to put me to sleep. Well, you know how this ended. Woke up no longer pregnant.

Caffeine withdrawal headaches. Shoot me now
finediva replied to altraoiche's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So my NUT advised me strongly to start weaning myself off my serious coffee addiction three months before my surgery. Of course I refused to listen. Well, I honestly could not imagine staring in day without my 20ozs cup of specialty brewed in my own kitchen. Ok, so I decided to kick the habit whem I started my two weeks pre op diet. I will make this short and sweet. I suffered. Extra strength Tylenol did not help. Yes, I took several, several times a day. No,, withdrawal did not last 3 to 4 days. By day 5 I simply stayed in my room, in my bed most of the day and tried to sleep of the pain. I think I felt better by day 8 or 9. Of course it's something that of a distant memory now. So, I wish I had taken her advise to gradually wean myself off my 35 year addiction. NUT advise was to mix half decaffeinated with regular and gradually increase the amount of decaffeinated. Best. -
Do you notice how much others eat?
finediva replied to *Lexie*'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes, I notice and I'm appalled by my negative reaction sometimes. I was never a big eaterin public. Would always eat small amounts and take food home or let my kids eat it if they wanted to. But I was a a secret eater, and ate huge amounts in private. While I ate healthy small portions in public or in front of my family, I would binge on junk food in the privacy of my car or when home alone. Of course I then dealt with the shame and remorse that would bring. On another note,I get jealous when I see people just shoveling in food without chewing. I was a super fast eater, I miss that and still struggle to remember to slow down. -
Well who is this nurse that said such a stupid thing to you? I had a drain that was removed on the 11th day. I was getting all geared up for her to tell me to take a deep breath, yada, yada. I was getting ready for some kind of discomfort. Never knew when it came out. She just laughed at my shocked expression. I also had an open hernia repair 13 yrs ago. Had the drain in for 14 days. Remember feeling slight tug when he removed it. No pain. So, try not to worry.

Does anyone else get as much joy as I do when I update my ticker?
finediva replied to CheleLynn45's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get up, pee, get naked, weight. If there is a downward change,Ii grab my tablet and joyously update my ticker. So,yes, yes and yes. Joy, joy, joy!!! -
I had a CAT during surgery. It was put in after I was under and removed before i was aware of it. I was in surgery for 5 1/2hrs. Interestingly enough, I was able to pee ALOT on my own bbefore leaving the hospital.
